Lela Humphries Morris Honey, age 80 of Hunltand, passed away December 25, 2015 at Tranquility Hospice in Marietta, GA. A native of Jacksboro, TX she was a 1952 graduate of Mineral Wells High School. Following high school she met her first husband, Dennis Morris and they made their home in Chicago until 1960 when they relocated to the Pleasant Ridge community near Huntland. For the past 2 years she made her home with her daughter and son-in law in Marietta, GA when her health began to fail. She was a long-time and faithful member of Maxwell Baptist Church and loved gardening, sewing. She was an excellent cook and a woman who will be remembered as a “valiant warrior” who survived many years of kidney disease and a person with a pure heart and the strongest of strong traditional values. Mrs. Honey is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Esther Leatherwood and her father, Ivey Jay Humphries; brother, Dennis E. Morris; husband, Leland Honey; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Kevin) Roth of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Jonathan Morris, David Morris, Cristy Blankenship, Anna Morris, Courtney Gass, Rebekah Morris and Catie Whorton; great grandchildren, Asher & Luke Blankenship. A celebration of life will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Robertson of the Maxwell Baptist Church officiating DEC 28. 05:00 PM – 08:00 PM
at Watson-North Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Huntland with friends and family members serving as pallbearers.
