Mr. Michael Rodgers Collier, age 84, of Tullahoma, TN., passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN.
He was the son of the late Elkin Rodgers and Lula Barnard Collier.
He was a United States Army Veteran, having served his Country in the Korean Conflict and receiving a Bronze Star for his military service. Mr. Collier had a love for flying and aviation, was an award winning model airplane enthusiast, and enjoyed gardening. Over the years he had coached little league baseball and helped with Boy Scouts in Tullahoma. He was a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and received his Masters Degree from UTSI. He was retired from AEDC, where he had worked as an Engineer, but had also worked for GE in Indianapolis, Boeing at Eglin Field Airforce Base in Florida, Vandenberg Airforce Base in California, Seattle, WA., and New Orleans, LA.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter in law Tami Collier.
He is survived by his wife Betty Collier of Tullahoma, two sons Mike Collier of Chattanooga, TN., Steve (Andre) of Crossville, TN., daughter Carole (Tim) Sharp of Hartselle, AL., grandchildren Pete Sharp, Drew Collier, T.J. Wilson, Brian Sharp, two brothers Joe (Judy) Collier of Arab, AL., and David (Kathy) Collier of Kennesaw, GA., nephews Jeff and Joey Collier, and aunt Mary Collier.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 4 PM until 7 PM in the Chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will begin at 11 AM on Monday, December 22, 2014, in the Chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Purdue officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to FUMC of Tullahoma, or a charity of your choice.
