Funeral services for Mr. Gene Morgan, Jr. “Sonny”, age 69, will be conducted on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend Don Seeders officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
Gene Elemuel Morgan, Jr. also known as Sonny, was called home to our Lord on Sunday, October 16, 2016. Born to Lucille and Gene Elemuel Morgan, Sr. on June 27, 1947 in Chattanooga, TN. Sonny graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1966. He worked as an iron worker until April 1967 and joined the U.S. Navy, serving until February 1971. He is a graduate of Motlow State Community College and was also a Freemason. Before moving to South Carolina, he was employed at Arnold Engineering and Morrison Knudson. He traveled abroad on mission trips to build churches, and loved to fish, hunt, and golf.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gene Elemuel Morgan, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Virginia Dybal Morgan; his daughters Gina Meline (Jeremy) and Melissa Deuermeyer (Jason); step-daughter Angelia Beattie (Mike); step-son Aaron Morgan (Jennifer); grandchildren Lyndsey Beattie, Ethan Andrews, Thomas Morgan, Leah Deuermeyer, and Elizabeth Meline; his mother, Lucille Prater; sisters, Suzanne Brandon and Mary Jo O’Neal, as well as countless nieces and nephews.
