THOMAS E. DODSON, age 70, of Decherd, Tenn., departed this life on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., with his loving family at his side he was called to his eternal home. Mr. Dodson was born in Winchester, Tenn., to the late Herman Lloyd Dodson and Ruby Mae Bryant Dodson on Sept. 7, 1946. He was a member of the Decherd Church of God. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid baseball fan especially of the New York Yankees. He loved his family and spending time with his grand-children.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dodson was preceded in death by his brothers; Jimmy, Sam, Michael, Stanley, and John Dodson and sister, Ruby Mae Dodson. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Wilma Dodson of Decherd, Tenn., sons; Jeff Dodson and wife, Kandy of Tullahoma, Tenn, Timothy Dodson and wife, Kimberly, of Cseyville, Ill., and Jamie Dodson of Decherd, Tenn., brothers; Robert Dodson of Crossville, Tenn., Richard Dodson and Paul Dodson of Cohutta, Ga., Ricky Dodson of Jacksonville, Fla., sisters; Bessie and June Dodson of Ocala, Fla., 8-grandchildren and 4-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mr. Dodson is scheduled for 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening Oct. 18, in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bishop Timothy Greer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd with military honors bestowed.
