Visitation with the family of Mr. Floyd Marshall Stevens, age 65, of Hillsboro, will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel.
There will be no services.
Mr. Stevens passed away suddenly at Medical Center of Manchester on October 8, 2012.
Mr. Stevens was born in Manchester, TN, the son of the late Floyd Stevens and Arlie Mae Johnson Barnes.
He was a retired heavy machine operator at Tennessee Corrections Academy. He loved doing dozer work. Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart for injuries while in service. He voluntarily served two tours. He was of the Nazarene faith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stevens was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Crabtree, and special family members, Quinton and Villa Baker.
He is survived by his only child, Amy (Jason) Vickers of Manchester; a longtime dog companion, “Kimo”; his girlfriend, Laney Cunningham; one brother, Michael Stevens of Tullahoma; one sister, June (R.L.) Dodd of Manchester; three grandsons, Case (Kelsey) Vickers, Nick “Pate” Vaughn, and Preston Vickers; one great granddaughter, Emery “Peanut” Vickers; with special recognition of Cason Abed and a host of family and special, close friends.
