On Wednesday evening Dr Joey Vaughn current Deputy Director of Coffee County schools accepted a job offer from the Manchester Board of Education to become the new Manchester City school’s director.
Current Director of Schools Lee Wilkerson will be going on leave with pay on Feb. 16 until the end of his contract in June.
Dr. Vaughn and the Board of Education agreed on a contract that pays him a yearly salary of $117,000 with a starting date of Feb. 1.
Vaughn said he was humbled by this opportunity:
Before he began this school term as Deputy Director of Coffee County Schools, he was principal at Coffee County High School. Vaughn started his education career as an eighth-grade history teacher at Coffee County Middle School and was an administrator for Manchester Schools.
