A horseback riding accident occurred Sunday afternoon at the end of Blanton Chapel Road near Normandy Lake. Megan Meeker of Manchester was kicked by a horse and was brought out of the area by four-wheeler. It was thought she suffered a broken leg. She was transported to an area hospital where it was determined that there was no break. Megan was treated for bruising and released.
As the first victim was being treated, a second call came in for the same area. Another female was reported to have fallen from a horse and had broken bones. This occurred just off Lyndell Bell Road at the lake where horse ridding is permitted on TVA property. The woman, reportedly from the Sixteenth Model Road area, was in an extremely rough area and the Rescue Squad was paged out. The squad along with Coffee County EMS went to the victim, stabilized her and brought her back to the awaiting Ambulance. She was then transferred to Airevac and air lifted to Vanderbilt for treatment of a compound fracture of the leg.
