A man on a backhoe was digging near the roadway on Asbury Road about 2:15 Sunday afternoon and struck a natural gas line. The gas line was not ruptured, but the Hillsboro Fire Department was dispatched for precaution. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Deputies blocked Asbury Road between Hickerson Road and Grosch Road. ERPUD was called to resolve the problem. We do not know at this time if any fines will be levied. Everyone is reminded to call 811 before digging.
