A murder trial scheduled to start Jan. 3, 2013 in Coffee County Circuit Court of a Winchester man has been rescheduled until Feb. 13, 2013. 42-year-old Marcus Wade of Elm Street Winchester is charged with the October 2010 murder of 50-year-old Richard Wayne Elliott of Estill Springs and 34-year-old Timothy Wayne Gill of Winchester in the Quality Inn motel on North Jackson Street in Tullahoma. A motion to delay the case was heard Friday before Coffee County Circuit Court Judge Craig Johnson. The delay was requested after assistant district attorney Jason Ponder underwent surgery.
According to the Billy Cook, an investigator with the Coffee County District Attorney’s office, Elliott and Gill had been staying in a room in the motel for a couple of month to a month and a half. On Oct. 30, 2010, a friend of Elliott’s went to the motel room to meet him as he did not show up for a planned meeting and found the bodies.
After extensive investigation by Cook and Tullahoma Police investigators, Wade was indicted by the April term of the Coffee County Grand Jury on charges of two counts of first degree felony murder, two counts of premeditated first degree murder and especially aggravated robbery. He was arrested on the charges May 11, 2012 after being named in sealed indictments. Tullahoma attorney Bobby Carter represents Wade.
Prosecuting the case will be Assistant District Attorneys Jason Ponder, Marla Holloway and Felicia Walkup.
