Manchester Receives State Funding

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer on Wednesday announced Safe Routes to School funding for the City of Manchester totaling $26,900.
The City of Manchester will utilize the Safe Routes to School funds for a School Activity Plan for Westwood Elementary and Westwood Middle Schools. This award will fund educational programs and promotional activities to encourage walking and biking as a practical and healthy initiative for approximately 920 students.
Since 2005, the Safe Routes to School grants have funded improvement projects at 167 schools across Tennessee.
