Manchester Police Sergeant Devin DeFord responded to McDonald’s on the Hillsboro Highway early Friday morning in reference to a possible impaired driver in the drive-thru. DeFord made contact with the driver and says the man allegedly had a very strong odor of intoxicant, slurred speech and was very aggressive towards the officer. The man identified as Jeremy Neal age 35 of Kefauver St Manchester was asked several times to get out of the vehicle and apparently refused and also refused any field sobriety tests. Neal was placed in a holding cell while officers obtained a search warrant for his blood, upon obtaining the warrant the officers went to get the subject from the holding cell and he became physical with officers swinging and allegedly striking one officer before being taken to the ground and handcuffed for transport to Unity Medical Center. Once at Unity, Neal supposedly refused to walk into the hospital and had to be carried.
Neal was charged with assault, violation of complied consent law, disorderly conduct and driving under the influence. Bond was set at $11,500 and a court date of June 7, 2016.
