Charles Perry was baling hay on Goose Pond Road Thursday afternoon when he said he looked around at the baler, it was on fire. Perry and neighbors attempted to extinguish the fire, but it spread to the grass in the nearby field. The New Union Fire Department was called to the scene and went to work on the field fire. The Forestry division was also notified. The bailer was a total loss along with several round bales of hay.
