People are finding a new way to get high and it has found its way to Manchester. A new very strong form of marijuana (DABS) was recently found by Manchester Police at Bonnaroo. DABS are doses of cannabis concentrates that used to mostly refer to butane hash oil. The concentrate can be up to 80% THC, the active psychoactive compound in cannabis, but usually range between 50 and 75%. Three people were arrested at Bonnaroo for possession of DABS.
DABS are mostly smoked through certain types of electronic cigarettes or a Bong because they can heat the drug.
DABS started in California and Colorado and has been slowly moving eastward as word spread on the Internet and other sources.
DABS come from marijuana but is a lot more powerful than the normal “joint” smoked by users. Heated Butane gas is used to extract the sticky oil from the plant.
Manchester Police have a couple of jars that were seized as well as small containers of the gooey liquid, the cases look like something lip balm would come in.
Manchester Police Chief Mark Yother says, “I am afraid that this product is here to stay and that we will be seeing more of DABS in the coming days.
A fear that some police officers in the area that we talk to are afraid that this could become as dangerous as or more dangerous than methamphetamines.
During Bonnaroo Manchester Police seized dabs in 42 electronic cigarettes, 197 rubber containers, two glass jars and three larger containers, and 106 plastic bags containing five grams of marijuana in each and a plastic-wrapped pound of pot, the report states. Officers also seized more than $14,000 in cash and 16 grams of psychedelic mushrooms.
