The Coffee County Sheriff’s Dept. and area police officers are beefing up patrols on roadways to make sure people are wearing their seat belts. This will be part of the National Click or Ticket campaign, which is running now through June 5. According to the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, 86 percent of Tennesseans regularly wear their seat belts. Tennessee reached its highest seat belt use rate in 2014, but with that being said the Governor’s Highway Safety Office says that more than half of traffic fatalities are unrestrained.
