The Winchester Police Department needs to alert the public about dangerous synthetic drugs that have been distributed to youth in the community. Over the last two weeks, they have responded to at least 11 overdoses, one death, life threatening injuries, and one serious accident pertaining to the following two synthetic drugs. Report: TN Diverts Majority of Tobacco Tax to Unrelated Programs

Tennessee collected $400 million last year from its tax on tobacco and the settlement made with cigarette companies in the 1990s, and spent only $5 million of that, a little more than 1 percent, on tobacco prevention programs. That’s significantly lower than the recommended spending by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), which is $75 million annually. A Tullahoma man was arrested Dec. 21 for possession of drugs after deputies went to a residence in Tullahoma Village. According to a report by Coffee County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Reed, officers went to serve a warrant, but when they arrived they smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the apartment. Local Teenager Escapes from Youth Center in East Tennessee

Isaiah Tyler Vaughn, an 18-year-old of 2474 Old Tullahoma Highway, Manchester escaped from Mountain View Youth Development Center in Dandridge, TN on Saturday night. He was apprehended after he allegedly stole a vehicle about two miles away. Two others who broke through a wall along with him were also apprehended. There was a motor vehicle crash on Monday morning at mile-marker 113 on Interstate 24 in Coffee County. According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, it was a single vehicle crash. A Yukon pulling a trailer driven by David Hett age 56. The vehicle was traveling east bound and attempted to pass another vehicle. Lewisburg Man Arrested for Sex Crimes that Allegedly took place in Coffee County

Shane Kyle Sanders Jr., 25, of Lewisburg was booked last week on sex crimes. His arrest came after indictments were issued by the January 2014 term of the Coffee County Grand Jury. The alleged activity occurred in September 2013. According to the four count indictment, Sanders is accused of soliciting a minor to engage in sexual activity.
