Drugs, Guns and more found during Traffic Stop in Bedford County
A traffic violation lead Bedford County deputies to arrest all four passengers in a vehicle with multiple charges, the seizure of two loaded handguns (with one being reported as stolen), $1,181 in cash, and approximately 45 grams of crack cocaine. Deputy Chris Morton of the BCSO stopped a vehicle on North Cannon Blvd. Saturday evening for running a red light. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Nathaniel Markeith Key and was arrested for driving on revoked license. University of Tennessee to Host Farmers Market Workshops
Farmers interesting in selling products at farmers markets will have a chance to learn more about marketing at workshops in Tennessee this winter. In addition to marketing, other topics will include social media and email, grants and microloans, recordkeeping, requirements for basic types of food that can be made and sold at farmers markets and an overview of new food safety regulations. Two more people have died from injuries received in the accident that first took the life of a 7-year-old Coffee County boy. The three-vehicle crash occurred on the Dinah Shore Boulevard in Winchester New Year’s Eve morning around 11:30 a.m. Authorities now say that Mary Jane Parks, 83, of Winchester died from her injuries on Friday afternoon. New Law Says You only have to Renew Your Drivers License every 8 Years
Tennessee drivers who renew their licenses this year won’t have to go through the process again for eight years. The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security says the change from five years includes all classifications of driver licenses and identification licenses, including commercial driver licenses and motorcycle licenses. 19 Tornados Hit Tennessee in 2015
Weather officials say 19 touched down in Tennessee last year, marking the state’s lowest total since 2007. The National Weather Service said Saturday that one tornado struck the state in April and two touched down in May of 2015. A record-setting nine tornados hit the state in July. According to the weather service, the highest number of tornados to strike Tennessee in July was four in 1980. An outbreak in December produced seven tornados, the most ever in that month. Great News–Stolen Jewelry Recovered from Coffee County Burglary Returned to Owner
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department has recovered items stolen earlier this year in a burglary that took place in the Fredonia area in the county. Investigator Kelly Smith says that over $15,000 in jewelry has been given back to the owner of the property. Smith says he got a lead in the case when Patrick Dwayne Billions pawned guns and tools at a store in Manchester. The items were stolen out of Limestone County Alabama.
