Grant Money for Coffee County Joint Industrial Park
Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd have announced that 15 communities will receive $5.7 million in site development grants to prepare economic development sites for marketing. One of those grants was awarded to the Coffee County Joint Industrial Park. The grant is in the amount of $163,350, which will go for the clearing of 16.5 acres of the 48.62-acre Select TN site. The grants assist communities in finalizing infrastructure and engineering improvements for project-ready certified sites. County Schools Teen Expo receives donation from University of Tennessee
Kaitlyn Thornton, 2011 graduate of Coffee County Central High School, 2015 graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and current graduate student at UTK and employee of the UT Athletic Department recently provided the Coffee County Schools Teen Expo program with a much needed and appreciated donation. Man Flees from Deputy in High Speed Pursuit
On Thursday night Coffee County Deputy Lee Marcom attempted to stop a man driving a silver 4-door car on Lyndell Bell Road in Manchester for reckless driving. The deputy states the man refused to stop and took off at a high rate of speed passing several vehicles on curvy roads while it was raining, placing those drivers at risk of serious injury or death. Grundy County Woman Arrested On Child Neglect, Endangerment Charges
An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Grundy County woman, who is charged with the aggravated neglect and endangerment of her son when he was an infant. At the request of 12th District Attorney General Michael Taylor, TBI Special Agents joined investigators with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office on November 22, 2013, in investigating allegations of child endangerment and neglect of a male infant. Homicide Investigation Continues in Grundy County
Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum says a search warrant was recently carried out at 287 W. Pickett Road in Coalmont. The warrant involves the homicide case of Samantha Chandler. Chandler’s body was discovered in the Ross Creek area on May 1, with wounds sufficient to open an inquiry. Sheriff Shrum had previously that they suspect foul play just by some of the things that was at the scene. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducted the search with GCSO assisting. A Tullahoma man was transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville after being injured in pickup/motorcycle crash earlier this week. According to an accident report by Tullahoma Police Officer Tyler Walls, Stephen Groves Yates, 46, of Quail Drive Tullahoma was riding his 2010 Honda motorcycle when he collided with 2006 Ford pickup operated by James Wade Frazier, 44, of Allen Street, Tullahoma.
