Coffee County High School Will Host 4th Annual Team Up To Tackle Breast Cancer Event
October 17th is going to be the 4th Annual Team Up to Tackle Breast Cancer event at the home football game versus Lincoln County at 7 p.m. Farm Bureau Insurance is sponsoring the event of the night by purchasing pink jerseys for the football team to wear during the game. The jerseys will be auctioned off during the night at a silent auction with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. The Motlow College Foundation and the Motlow STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) outreach program invite the public to attend the annual October Skies Motlow College Star Party on Motlow’s Moore County campus. The program is free and begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Regions Bank parking lot. Drowning Takes The Life of a 63 Year-old man
A 63-year-old man’s body was found in the Duck River early Monday morning. According to the Shelbyville Times-Gazette, a passerby discovered William Harris’ body floating in the river located off Hopkins Bridge Road, near the Riverview Primitive Campground, around 7:30 a.m. Authorities said there were no obvious signs of foul play. Cookbook Available Through Motlow
The Motlow College honors program is currently selling cookbooks as its final fundraiser for the academic year, according to Dr. Scott Cook, associate professor of history and honors program advisor. The cookbook, titled “Food For Thought,” is a compilation of recipes from honors program students and faculty, and contains approximately 250 recipes. The cost is $15 per copy and pre-orders will be accepted until Friday, Oct. 3. The book can be ordered by contacting an honors student or Dr. Cook. Suspicious Package Reported At The Jiffy Burger–UPDATE
A suspicious package was found at a Manchester business on Monday afternoon. Adayna Pennington an employee at the Jiffy Burger on the Hillsboro Blvd witnessed a man acting strangely walking around in the parking lot carrying a clipboard. Pennington said the man walked to his SUV and came back toward the business carrying what appeared to be an ammo box and placed outside near the backside of the building. Sex Offender Arrested For Kidnapping
A Tullahoma man is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a $500,000 bond after he allegedly kidnapped two children. 46 year old Larry Aubrey Price of Old Tullahoma Hwy was arrested Sunday on the kidnapping charge. In warrants obtained by Manchester Police Capt. Victor Jones, the custodial caregiver of the children allowed Price to take the two children to the store. Gas Prices Down In Coffee County
Gas prices remained relatively stagnant last week, falling a mere three hundredths of a cent nationwide. Refinery outages in both Canada and Texas have caused the steady decline in gasoline to come to a halt and even spike in some markets. 23,000 Have Signed Up For The Tennessee Promise
Registration of Tennessee high school seniors in the state’s “Tennessee Promise” program stands at nearly 23-thousand. That from numbers released by the Tennessee Board of Regents late last week. There is a November 1st deadline to apply for the Tennessee Promise scholarship. Dr. MaryLou Apple, president of Motlow College, says it’s a unique scholarship available beginning with this year’s high school seniors. Apple says college hopefuls can get more information from several application and information sessions at Motlow College campuses.
