Construction Accident Takes The Life Of a Shelbyville Man

A Shelbyville man was killed in a construction accident in Brentwood Tuesday morning. It happened around 11 a.m. at a home in the 1800 block of Windstone Boulevard. Number of Uninsured People in Tennessee Hits 10-Year Low

A new University of Tennessee report says the number of uninsured people in Tennessee has hit a 10-year low. Media cited the study in reporting that the number of people without health insurance shrunk about 25 percent in the first year of the health insurance marketplace, which was implemented under the federal Affordable Care Act. There is still an estimated 472,008 people without insurance in the state, or about 7.2 percent of the population. After dropping for six years in a row, the latest figures show the preterm birth rate in Tennessee inched back up in 2013. Longtime Coffee County Public Defender Campbell Smoot Found Deceased

B. Campbell Smoot of Tullahoma, public defender for the 14th Judicial District, which serves Coffee County died Tuesday morning at his Moore County home. A co-worker discovered his body after he failed to show up for work early Tuesday. Although no foul play was immediately suspected, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called to the scene. Coffee County Man Who Allegedly Cannibalized a Woman’s Body Was In Court Tuesday

On Tuesday, Gregory Scott Hale the man accused of murdering a woman and beheading her was in court. Hale’s case was bound over to the January term of the Coffee County Grand Jury. Hale, 37, of Pete Sain Road, Summitville was arrested June 8 for murdering Lisa Marie Hyder of Pikeville at his residence on or about June 6. Authorities were tipped off when he was seeking help to dispose of her body. Hyder according to the arrest warrant was beheaded and the rest of her body was dismembered. Drivers Continue To See Falling Prices At The Pump

Motorists continue enjoying the lowest gas prices in four years. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded dropped for the 52nd consecutive day on Sunday, falling 45 cents since September 26th. During that same period, gas prices fell 45 cents in Tennessee.
