Credit Card Fraud In Tullahoma

Police are investing a fraud case totaling $16,197.36 at Kroger in Tullahoma on Jan. 6. Service Manager Jon Stephenson reported to Officer Tommy Elliott that two black males entered the store on Jan. 4 and made four fraudulent credit card transactions. The funds were loaded onto American Express gift cards. Stephenson stated that he believed that the same two men conducted similar frauds in Shelbyville and Decherd stores in Tennessee along with two Kroger stores in Huntsville, Ala. Jury Selection Begins In Pearman

Jury selection begins Monday in the trial of Jacob Pearman, the man accused of murdering his wife Carla Pearman, formally Carla Dillard of Manchester. The murder took place in their home in Murfreesboro on Valentine’s Day in 2013. He’s also accused of aggravated child abuse of Carla’s son. Judge David Bragg has granted a request that the jury be sequestered. That means the jurors will stay in a place all together and not be able to consume any media. Drug Bust In Franklin County

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office personnel recently charged a Fayetteville, TN. man with Manufacture/Delivery, Sell of a Schedule IV (Xanax) and Possession of Schedule IV. A report filed by Deputy Martin Tyler stated that contact was made with Bradley C. Smith of 127 South Lincoln Rd., Fayetteville, TN. and an agreement was reached for Mr. Smith to deliver 22 Xanax pills to a location in Franklin County. Once Mr. Smith arrived at the previously determined location he was placed in custody by Sheriff’s Office personnel and transported to the Franklin County Jail where he was booked on a $30,000 bond....

Two Pets Die and One Person Hurt In Tullahoma Fire

Fire heavily damaged a house on Ovoca Road Wednesday afternoon. The Tullahoma Fire Department was called to 1203 Ovoca around 1 p.m. where they found flames coming from the front of the home of Gerald Gibson and family. According to Fire Chief Richard Shasteen, the fire was started by a 5-year-old playing with a lighter who set a bedroom on fire and then the rest of the house caught fire. 2nd Lowest Number Of Traffic Deaths On Tennessee Roadways Since 1963

State officials say 961 people died on Tennessee roadways last year, the second lowest number since 1963 and only the fifth time traffic deaths have dipped below 1,000 since that year. It is also a 3.4 percent decrease in traffic-related deaths from 2013 when 995 people were killed. THP Col. Tracy Trott credits DUI and seat belt enforcement for the decline in traffic-related deaths. Troopers arrested 2,000 more people in 2014 than in 2013 for suspicion of DUI. Smyrna Student Has Tuberculosis, Several Others To Be Tested

Authorities say they will test nearly 100 people at a Middle Tennessee school for tuberculosis after a student tested positive for the disease. Dr. Lori MacDonald, medical officer for the state’s Mid-Cumberland region, told The Daily News Journal the Rutherford County student who tested positive had a “very low” bacteria count and it is unlikely there would be any more positive cases.
