Less Deaths On Tennessee Roadways
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says fewer traffic-related deaths are being reported on roadways so far this year. WBIR-TV reports that that as of Aug. 11, there had been 50 fewer deaths than reported last year in the same time frame. THP Lt. Don Boshears said the state is on track to have fewer traffic deaths than it recorded in 1963. Data from the Department of Safety and Homeland Security and the Department of Transportation show there were 961 traffic deaths in Tennessee in 2014. Georgia Man Arrested After Drugs Found In His Car at a Manchester Motel
On Saturday (August 8, 2015) Deputy Phillip Smith of the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department says someone called the jail stating that a Douglas Christian was at the Sleep Inn in Manchester selling heroin. Deputy Smith called Investigator James Sherrill. Sherrill called the complainant back and was advised that Christian may have the narcotics in the trunk of his car, if they were not with him in his room. Person Takes Breathing Strips Without Paying
Tullahoma Police are searching for someone with an apparent breathing problem. Loss prevention personnel at the Kroger Store on North Jackson Street reported that an unidentified white female wearing a pink ball cap entered the store on Aug. 7 and took 31 boxes of Breath Right Strips. Over half of Tennessee residents take part in outdoor recreation each year, according to the Outdoor Industry Association. Among them are hunters and anglers who consider themselves conservative, yet support an EPA clean water policy that has been described as controversial. Two Women Arrested On Several Charges
A Tullahoma woman and a Belvidere woman were arrested Sunday after they were allegedly found to be in possession of items taken from a vehicle at a local motel. According to warrants obtained by Officer Cody Brandon of Tullahoma, an individual reported that her vehicle had been broken into and items were taken. Tullahoma Man Jailed On Sex Charges
Jarrett Austin Kitts of Princeton Street in Tullahoma is free on a $10,000 bond after being arrested on sexual battery by an authority figure. According to a report taken by Officer Sam Campbell, on July 23 a woman met the officer at the Tullahoma Police Department to report a case of sexual battery of a juvenile. Kitts, 36, was arrested on Sunday Aug. 9. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail on a charge of sexual contact with a minor by an authority figure.
