Lady Raiders Win Big in Sparta

The Lady Raiders bounced back strong after Monday’s loss to Baylor with a District 6-AAA win at White County.
Senior Catcher Chelsea Howell led Coffee Co. to a 9-1 win with 3 hits, knocking in 4, and scoring twice.  She was named the Gateway Tire Player of the Game. Taylor Gullett scored 3 runs and had 3 hits.  Alaina Lusk picked up the win in her first pitching start this season.
Coffee Co. will co-host the Riverdale tournament Thursday through Saturday.

The Lady Raiders play Marion Co. at 4pm Thursday and Scottsboro, Ala at 8pm. The Scottsboro game will be live on Thunder Radio.

High School Soccer: Siegel 2 Coffee County 1

Coffee County’s soccer team fell to Siegel 2-1 Tuesday night.  The Raider led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a Ricky Ramirez goal (assisted by Baltazar Barrera).
Despite the loss, Coach Andy Escue praised Goaltender David Morgan on his effort.  The coach also noted that Tuesday night’s performance against Siegel was stronger than last year’s.

Preds Fall Short To Blues

Brian Elliott made 24 saves for his third straight shutout and Jamie Langenbrunner broke a scoreless tie in the second period to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 3-0 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.
St. Louis, which improved to 30-4-4 at home, has an NHL-leading 105 points – two ahead of the New York Rangers in the battle for the President’s Trophy. St. Louis leads Vancouver by four points in the Western Conference standings.
Nashville, which needs one point to earn a playoff spot, snapped a two-game winning streak.

Raiders Win Cookeville

After falling 7-0 to Cookeville on Monday night the Coffee County baseball team traveled to Cookeville last night. The Raiders played very well and beat the Cavs 6-4. Justin Cooper was the winning pitcher.
Coffee County plays at Siegel in the Warrior Classic on Thursday.

Motlow Wins Doubleheader

The Motlow Bucks brought out the heavy lumber Monday afternoon in Pulaski, exploding for 32 runs in a 14-6, 18-7 sweep of Martin Methodist in a baseball doubleheader.

The Bucks (21-13, 4-8) will return to TCCAA conference play this weekend when they travel to Chattanooga to face the Chattanooga State Tigers (27-9, 9-3) in a three-game series. Friday’s single game begins at 1 p.m. central time, with Saturday’s doubleheader scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Kenneth Perkey was the hitting star for the Bucks in game one Monday afternoon, slamming two home runs and driving in four.

Game two was basically over after the Bucks scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning.

Cavs Knock Off Raiders

Last night the Coffee County Red Raider baseball team got its District 6-AAA play underway for the season hosting Cookeville. The Cavs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and went onto beat the Raiders 7-0.
Zach Holder made an outstanding diving catch to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game.
Coffee Co. will travel to play Cookeville again today.

Lady Raider Lose For First Time

Yesterday afternoon in Chattanooga the Lady Raider softball team took on Baylor and it was not a good road trip. Coffee County committed several errors leading to many Baylor runs. Coffee County lost its first game of the year 11-1 to Baylor.
The Lady Raiders are back in action tonight in District 6-AAA play at White County. Hear the game live on Thunder Radio starting at 6:30pm.

Motlow Gives Columbia First Loss In TCCAA Play

The Motlow Bucks ended Columbia State’s 10-game conference winning streak Sunday afternoon, handing the Chargers a 4-1 loss in the first game of a doubleheader at the Driver Baseball Complex. Columbia captured game two 10-2. The Bucks are now (19-13, 4-8).

Preds Blow Past Chicago In Windy City

Even with their top point producer sidelined by an injury, the Nashville Predators had plenty of offense. And they had in Pekka Rinne goal Sunday night. That combination helped them rout the Chicago Blackhawks 6-1 and move into fourth place in the Western Conference.

The victory gave the Predators 96 points, one more than Detroit and four more than the sixth-place Blackhawks, who had their five-game winning streak snapped. It also gave Nashville a 4-0-1 record against Chicago this season.

Nashville’s Martin Erat, who has tied a career high with 57 points, was scratched because of an upper-body injury after logging 19 minutes Saturday night in a win over Winnipeg.

Matt Halischuk, Andrei Kostitsyn, Patric Hornqvist, Francis Bouillon, Shea Weber and Mike Fisher scored for the Predators, who matched their season high with the six goals.

Coffee County Gets Soccer Win

The Coffee County soccer team played at Franklin County in its most recent match. The Raiders picked up a 2-0 win over the Rebels.
Both goals were scored in the second half. Freshman Abilene Barrera scored his first career goal for the Raiders (assisted by Ricky Ramirez), and Ramirez scored his second goal of the 2012 season (assisted by Pedro Martinez). Josh Jones got his second shutout of the season in goal.
Coffee County will play at Siegel on tomorrow.
