Preds Trying To Get Rinne On Cover Of NHL13

Pekka Rinne

Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne is certainly a fan favorite in Nashville, but his popularity in the NHL is growing as a finalist to be on the cover of the EA Sports video game “NHL13.”
EA Sports started a 60-player bracket contest online for fans to vote for the next cover star of their video game. After a month of voting, it’s down to Rinne and Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux ga roo.
The team was eliminated in the playoffs last month, but since then the team has embarked on an aggressive online campaign to get fans to vote online. Voting ended yesterday and the winner will be announced at the NHL awards show on June 20.

Battle On For Titans Starting QB Spot

Matt Hasselbeck

Tennessee’s Matt Hasselbeck knows only too well how quickly a starting job can be lost. He is the player the Titans tried to replace with Peyton Manning in March.
Hasselbeck also likes to compete.
Good thing since the Titans kicked their quarterback battle into a new gear with their first on-field training activities this week. The Titans are letting Hasselbeck and Jake Locker, the eighth pick overall in 2011, compete to be the starting quarterback this season. The veteran got the ball first in team drills this week.
Coach Mike Munchak said Friday they will split snaps 50-50 while both will work with as many players as possible. Munchak says he hopes to know which man he wants as his starter by the Titans’ third preseason game in August.
