Locker Will Be Titans Starter

The Tennessee Titans reportedly will start quarterback Jake Locker in their Sept. 9 season opener against the New England Patriots, according to The Tennessean.
Locker went 4 of 11 for 21 yards in his first NFL start Friday night, a 30-7 win at Tampa Bay.
Locker was the team’s No. 1 draft in 2011.
The Titans host the Cardnials Thursday night on Thunder Radio

At one time during the 1st quarter of Friday’s football game Coffee County led Shelbyville 7-6 but after that the Eagles took over.
The Coffee County Central High Red Raiders had a difficult stopping the high powered offence as they fell to the Golden Eagles 41-7 Friday night at Carden-Jarrell field in Manchester.
Junior tailback Deangelo Rozier scored the Raider lone TD on a seven-yard touchdown scamper. David Morgan added the point after to give CHS a 7-6 lead with 3:41 remaining in the first quarter.
Rozier finished the game with 27 carries for 114 yards. QB Peyton Meeker 18-23 for 127 and 2 INT’s.
MTSU commitment Marquis Morton led the offensive attack for the Golden Eagles getting 100 yards on just 13 totes all in the first half.

Chris Johnson ran for two touchdowns and Rob Bironas kicked three field goals as the Tennessee Titans capitalized on some early turnovers to earn a 30-7 preseason victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday night.
Tennessee second-year quarterback Jake Locker didn’t have an ideal outing in his first NFL start, completing 4 of 11 for 21 yards and an interception.
The Titans play at home Thursday night at 7pm as the Arizona Cardinals and you’ll hear the game live on Thunder Radio.

Another Record For Coffee County Golf

It their first home match of the year both Coffee County golf teams got wins, the boys picked up 3 wins and the girls got 2 wins yesterday. The Raider boys shot all time team low for 9-holes from the back tees with a 1-over 145. Earlier this week the team shot an all time low for 18 holes. Lincoln County shot 176, Cannon County 195 and Grundy County had a 236.
Andy Stout shot an impressive 3-under 33, Kyle Johnson 1-under 35, Garrett Adams 1-over 37 and Matt Johnson had a 40.
In girls play Coffee County shot 88 with Hollee Sadler leading the way with a 43 and Devin Green chipping in with a score of 45. Lincoln County shot 106 and Grundy County came in with a 122. Cannon County does not have a girls team.
The boy’s team is now 37-16 on the year and the girls improved to 26-9.

The Tennessee Titans are hosting a diaper drive for an area non-profit organization during an upcoming preseason game.
The drive, which benefits Nurses for Newborns, will be held on August 23 as the Titans take on the Arizona Cardinals.
Fans are asked to bring diapers, sizes three to five, as well as baby wipes, baby food, formula and digital thermometers.
Nurses for Newborns is a non-profit organization that provides nurse home visits to at-risk mothers and babies in Tennessee and Missouri.
The non-profit organization will keep the donated items on hand to distribute to families in need.

Jake Locker finally makes his first NFL start Friday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he’s definitely looking forward to something he expects to be a lot of fun.
The Tennessee Titans just hope he plays well enough to make take the decision on their starting quarterback out of their hands.
Coach Mike Munchak says the Titans are running out of time to pick between Locker, the eighth pick overall in 2011, and veteran Matt Hasselbeck, who led Tennessee to an unexpected 9-7 record last season. The Titans have been splitting the work in practice between the quarterbacks.

Media and Coaches Pick Raiders To Have Good Season

This week a media day event was held in Warren County with coaches for District 6AAA football in attendence.
The coaches are picking the Cookeville Cavaliers to win the District title this year.
The coaches are picking Coffee County to finish second, followed by White County, Warren County and Cumberland County.
The media poll was little different as it showed Cookeville and Coffee County tied for the top spot, White County in third place, and Warren County and Cumberland County tied for fourth.
The season kicks off Friday night on Thunder Radio as Coffee County will host Shelbyville. The Friday Night Thunder pre-game show starts at 6pm and kickoff at 7pm.

Football Championships Will Remain In Cookeville

The TSSAA Board of Control this week voted to keep the state football championship games at Cookeville for the next four years.
Cookeville has hosted the Blue Cross Bowl for the last two years, with the games being played at Tennessee Tech University.
The games will be played there through 2016.

Coffee County Golf Teams Keep It Rolling

Matt Johnson chips it close at Lincoln County

In high school golf yesterday (Aug. 14, 2012) Coffee County traveled to Fayetteville to take on Lincoln County and Shelbyville in a 9-hole 3-way match.
In boys play the Raiders defeated the Falcons and the Eagles 156-163-176. Kyle Johnson led Coffee County with a 36, followed by Andy Stout with a 39, Garrett Adams 40 and Matt Johnson shot 41.
The Lady Raiders also picked up two more wins with a team score of 86 to Lincoln County’s 102 and Shelbyville’s 107. Devin Green and Hollee Sadler both shot 43 for Coffee County.
The Raider JV team picked up a win over Lincoln County. Eli Clutter and Hayden Proffit each shot 51.
Coffee Co. will finally play its first home match on Thursday hosting Lincoln and Grundy Counties.
The varsity boy’s team is now 34-16 with girl’s moving to 24-9.

Coffee Middle Now 2-0 On The Year

Last night in middle school football action at Carden-Jarrell Field in Manchester Coffee County hosted Jasper Middle.
The Raiders jumped to an early lead of 22-0 after recovering 4 of 5 onside kicks in the first quarter. Coffee County went onto win 34-8.
The Raiders will host Tullahoma next Tuesday night at 6:30pm and you’ll hear it live on Thunder Radio.
