Golf Teams Compete At Home

At Willowbrook yesterday (Aug. 23, 2012) the Coffee County golf teams hosted Warren and White Counties in 9-hole boy’s and girl’s matches.
In girls play Megan Kriz led the Lady Raiders to one win with a score of 43 followed by Hollee Sadler shooting 44 for a team score of 87. White County picked up two wins with team score of 79 and Warren County came in with 92.
The Raider boys playing without Andy Stout who’s been under the weather shot a score of 160. White County had the low score of 152 and the Warren County had a 159. Tennessee Tech signee AJ Wilkerson of White Co. shot an impressive 32, 4-under par for the overall low round.
Coffee County was led by Justin Mooneyham with a 38 with teammates Kyle Johnson shooting 39, Matt Johnson 41 and Garrett Adams and Jacob Prater tying at 42.
The two teams travel to Sparta on Monday.

Kayakers Coming To Tennessee

Twin Falls at Rock Island

The World Cup Freestyle Kayak competition is coming to Tennessee this weekend. Kayakers from 17 countries are making their way to Rock Island for the competition this weekend. The competition starts today (Aug. 24, 2012) and runs through Sunday at the Twin Falls area. Next week the competition moves to the Pigeon River in upper East Tennessee.

Coffee Co. Middle Wins The Cup

In the battle for the Coffee Cup on Tuesday night at Carden-Jarrell field as Coffee Co. Middle took on Tullahoma Middle in football action.
The Raiders saw Malik Bean give Tullahoma an early lead on a TD run. After that the Raiders dominated the game scoring on 3 of its first 4 offensive plays going onto win the “Cup” 30-6. Reese Pratt was named the Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game with 2 TD runs and several tackles.
Tyrese Mcgee scored from 68 yards out and Garrett Eldridge caught a TD pass from Grant Sadler for the other scores.
Coffee Middle has a big road game at Harris Middle in Shelbyville Tuesday night (Aug. 28, 2012) at 6:30pm.

Raider Golfers Keep On Winning

The Coffee County High School golf teams saw action yesterday at Henry Horton State Park. It was a 3-way 18 hole match against Franklin County and Shelbyville.
In boys play the Raiders got 2 more wins beating the Rebels and the Eagles, 323- FC-352 and SCHS 367. Kyle Johnson was low man for Coffee County with a 77 followed by his brother Matt with a 79. The other two scores for the Raiders were Andy Stout win an 80 and Garrett Adams shooting 87.
In girls play Coffee County defeated Shelbyville 174-231. Hollee Sadler shot 84 for the Lady Raiders and Devin Green shot 90.
The boys record climbed to 39-16 and girls improved to 27-9.
The teams play at home Thursday afternoon at Willowbrook.

Coffee Co. Soccer Girls Get Win

Yesterday afternoon (Aug. 21, 2102) the Coffee Co. girls soccer team beat St Andrews-Sewanee 5-1. Katie Reid had a hat trick with 3 goals and Tasha Anderson added two more in the Coffee Co. win.

Coffee County Wins Again In Volleyball

In Fayetteville yesterday at the new city high school Coffee Co. volleyballers picked up a 3-0 win, 25-8, 25-8 and 25-13. The JV also won 2-0, 25-12 and 25-14. The ladies are back in action on Thursday in big District 6-AAA matchup at Cumberland County.

Fisher Signs Contract Extension With Predators.

Center Mike Fisher has agreed to a 2-year contract extension with the Nashville Predators.
General manager David Poile announced the $8.4 million deal at a fan event Monday night. Fisher was already under contract for the upcoming season with a $3 million salary and a salary-cap hit of $4.2 million.

New Head Baseball Coach At Coffee County

Coffee County Central High School Athletic Director Richard Skipper announced Tuesday that Brent Whitlock will be the new head baseball coach at Coffee County High School. Whitlock was serving as an assistant at Riverdale. He played at Warren County and played college ball at Birmingham Southern.
Whitlock replaces Chase Jones, who resigned Aug. 1 and became the new head baseball coach at Grundy County High School.

Volleyball Opens For Coffee County

The Coffee County girl’s volleyball team started their season last night with a match against Grundy County. After losing the first set 27-25 the Lady Raiders got it going winning 3 in a row 25-21, 25-21 and 25-13 for the win. The JV also won 25-18 and 16-25 and 15-5. Coffee Co. plays at the new Fayetteville high school today (Aug. 21, 2012)

Yesterday (Aug. 20, 2012) at the Bear Trace golf course in Winchester the Coffee County Junior Varsity boy’s golf team took on the Franklin County JV and the Huntland varsity.
The Raiders claimed a victory over Huntland 214-271 in the 9-hole match and Franklin County picked up 2 wins shooting 192.
Hayden Proffitt had the low score for Coffee County with a 47.
