The Westwood Rockets playing their 2nd game of the week picked up a win on Thursday night at Moore County, 16-12. Jakota Alexander and Lucas Ramsey scored TD’s for the Rockets. Austin Harmon and Thomas Millaway each had 2pt conversions.

North Gets Win Over Coffee County Middle School In Football
Homecoming did not go as planned for Coffee County Middle School. The Raiders hosted North Franklin County as Carden-Jarrell Field on Tuesday night (Sept. 11, 2012) falling 24-6. Coffee County scored its only TD of the night with about 2 minutes left in the game when QB Grant Sadler connected with RB Reese Pratt for a 17 yard touchdown.
The middle school Raiders play at Warren County next Wednesday afternoon at 12:30pm, a game you’ll hear live on Thunder Radio.
Coffee County Volleyball Falls At Sparta
Coffee County was back on the volleyball court last night in Sparta. White County dropped the Lady Raiders to 0-2 in district play and 7-7 overall with 3 sets to one win. The Lady Raiders won set one 25-14 and then lost three in a row; 25-27, 14-25 and 22-25.
Kelsey Munn was named the Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game.
Coffee County will play at home tomorrow night as Cumberland County comes to Manchester.

Westwood Football Comes Up Just Short

Westwood Tied In Soccer Match
The Westwood Middle School Lady Rocket Soccer team played an outstanding home game against Warren County Monday night. Kursten Hawkins and Makenzie Anderson each scored two goals and Ashley Woods prevented a penalty kick in the final minutes of the game. The final score was a 4-4 draw. The Lady Rockets play again today at Webb.
Coffee County Golf Teams Play For District Championships
In what was expected to be a very close boy’s tournament turned out to be that way. White Co. won the championship with a score of 315. Cookeville was a close 2nd with a 317 and Coffee Co. came in 3rd place with a 318. The top three teams move onto to play in the Region 3-AAA tournament Thursday at Harrison Bay State Park just outside Chattanooga.
The Red Raiders were led by Andy Stout who finished 4th overall with a 77. Matt Johnson scored a 79 followed by Kyle Johnson’s 80 and Garrett Adams’ 82.
On the girls side the Lady Raider also qualified for regions by finishing 3rd. Devin Green led Coffee Co. with a 92 and Hollee Sadler had a 95. Warren Co. won the district championship followed by Cookeville.
Coffee County Volleyball Drops Game At Home
Coffee County led 2 sets to zero last night (Sept. 10, 2012) in girls volleyball over Lincoln County. The Lady Raiders saw the Lady Falcons tie the match and send it to a deciding 5th set. Coffee County just could not pull out the win falling to winless Lincoln County 15-12 in the final game. Coffee County is now 7-6 on the year.
Brooke Carter was named the Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game. She had 7 kills, 6 assists, 7 aces and one block.
The Lady Raiders play at White County today and are at home Thursday against Cumberland County and Thunder Radio will broadcast that match.

Coffee County Looking For Swimmers
Attention students at Coffee Co. High School. Those interested in being a part of the swim team you must meet a few requirements in order to join this team – Athletes must be able to effectively perform competitive swimming freestyle including turns during our try out sessions and have a working knowledge of at least one other competitive swimming stroke. Athletes must attend the regular season try outs on Sept 11th and 13th at the Manchester Recreation Center from 3:30 to 5:00pm each day. Failure to attend both try out days will prevent you from joining this team. Athletes must turn in mandatory physical forms by the beginning of the try out on Sept 11th (tomorrow). Athletes must have passed all classes during the previous school year. Any athlete who is currently on a Fall sports team at CCCHS will be allowed to try out on the first day after their current season ends. These swimmers must get approval for this prior to the first try-out day which is tomorrow by speaking with Coach Lana Ray about their situation.
There is a MANDATORY PARENT that must be attended. The meeting is set on September 24th at 7:00pm in the CHS Library. All swimmers and at least one parent must be at the meeting.
Practice begins promptly at 3:30pm on Monday through Thursday beginning on October 9, 2012.
