Saturday afternoon at the Copperweld Arena the Motlow Lady Bucks lost their TCCAA game to Vol St, 63-45. Chelsey Wiseman scored 14 of her 17 in the 2nd half to lead Motlow.
In men’s action it was all Motlow as they defeated Volunteer St 90-66. The Bucks had 13 players score with 4 going for double-figures. J.C. Bonny led the Bucks with 16 off the bench. DeVante Jones added 13 and teammates Raul Tutton Jr and Michael Tomlin scoring 10 each.
The two teams will play at Gadsden State on Wednesday night.

Dooley Done

Derek Dooley

Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart believes Derek Dooley improved Tennessee football during his three-year tenure as the Volunteers’ coach.
Dooley just didn’t improve the Vols enough to keep his job.
The 44-year-old Dooley was fired Sunday after posting a 15-21 record that lacked wins over ranked opponents and Southeastern Conference foes. Dooley was 4-19 in SEC games and 0-15 against Top 25 teams. Tennessee (4-7, 0-7 SEC) is 1-14 in the SEC over the last two years.
Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney will coach the Vols’ season finale.
Dooley had four years left on his contract, which includes a $5 million buyout.

Vanderbilt Sports Update

E.J. Singler scored 22 points and Oregon dominated Vanderbilt in a 74-48 victory Friday night in college basketball.
Kyle Fuller scored 17 points to pace the Commodores (1-1), who lost Coach Kevin Stallings to an ejection with 15:57 to play after he was whistled for a pair of technical fouls. Kedren Johnson added 14 points for Vanderbilt.
Vandy will host Davidson Thanksgiving day at 1pm on Thunder Radio.

The Vanderbilt Commodores ended years of frustration at the hands of their in-state rival Tennessee with one of their best football victories in decades.
In-state rival Tennessee had won 34 of the past 35 games in this series coming into this game. The Commodores (7-4, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) also snapped a 14-game skid against Tennessee at home with their first win in Nashville since 1982 and the most points they’ve scored against the Vols since a 51-7 win in 1923.
The Vols (4-7, 0-7) haven’t had three straight losing seasons since 1909-11. They also will miss out on a bowl game in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1976-1978.

Other football scores:
MTSU 20 South Alabama 12
Alabama 49 Western Carolina 0

Westwood Wins In Boy’s Basketball

The Westwood Rockets defeated the Moore County 42-28. Carlos Medina led the Rockets with 15pts followed by Jakota Alexander and Sigmund Duke with 8pts each.
