Awards Banquet Held For Red Raider Football
WMSR Thunder Radio presented the annual Red Raider award. The award is given to a deserving player who not only does things the right on the field but also the classroom and outside of school. This year’s winner was Offensive Lineman Tyler King. Also the Gateway Tire and Service Center-Thunder Radio MVP was awarded to QB Peyton Meeker.
Motlow Basketball Drops Games In Alabama
Both the Bucks and Lady Bucks of Motlow suffered defeats last Wednesday in Gadsden, AL against Gadsden State. The Lady Bucks (3-3) fell 82-50, while the 19th ranked Bucks (5-1) dropped their first game in an 82-65 decision to the Cardinals. Reports indicate the home team shot close to 40 free throws in the second half. Both teams host Lawson State tomorrow night starting at 5:30pm at Copperweld Arena.
Vanderbilt Sports Update
De’Mon Brooks scored 19 points and Davidson beat Vanderbilt 75-62 on Thursday in the first round of the Old Spice Classic.
Nik Cochran and Jake Cohen added 14 points each for Davidson (2-2).
Kedren Johnson had a career-high 28 points for Vanderbilt (1-2).
Things did not get any better for the Dores on Friday as Devin Price and Isaiah Morton scored 13 points each and Marist beat Vanderbilt 50-33 in a consolation round game Friday at the Old Spice Classic.
Vanderbilt closed out its trip to the Old Spice Classic by routing UTEP 73-49 Sunday afternoon at HP Field House.
Kedren Johnson led the Commodores (2-3) with 17 points. Rod Odom added 16 points and Kyle Fuller finished with 14.
With the victory, Vanderbilt ends a three-game losing streak and finishes in seventh place at the Old Spice Classic. The Commodores will host Villanova on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. CT
Jordan Rodgers threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns, and Zac Stacy ran for a season-high 180 yards and two scores as Vanderbilt defeated Wake Forest 55-21 on Saturday.
It was Vanderbilt’s sixth straight victory, the school’s longest winning streak since 1955.
Vanderbilt (8-4) scored touchdowns on four of its first five possessions to take a 28-7 lead at halftime and never looked back. Wesley Tate added two scores, and Jordan Matthews had 10 catches for 144 yards in the first half, including a 64-yard touchdown reception from Rodgers.
More Motlow Players Sign To Continue Play At 4-Year Schools
J.C. Bonny and Kerrell Davis will play for the Troy University Trojans in Troy, Ala. next year, while Sean Gardner will be a member of the Arkansas State University Red Wolves, located in Jonesboro, Ark.
Troy is currently 2-2 on the season, with wins over Mississippi State and UT-Chattanooga. The Trojans will play in Murfreesboro at MTSU on Feb. 9. Arkansas State is 2-1 so far, including a triple-overtime win over UT-Martin. The Red Wolves will visit Murphy Center and MTSU on Feb. 7.

Coffee Co. Sweeps Grundy Co. In Basketball
Last night (Nov. 20, 2012) at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym the Coffee County Lady Raiders beat Grundy County 53-36 to improve to 2-2 on the year.
Alaina Lusk was strong down low for Coffee County with 14 and received the Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game. Ginny Clayborne also had 14.
After a brief announcement about the gym being named in honor of former principal and coach Joe Frank Patch the boy’s game began. The Raiders ran away with their first win of the year beating Grundy County 64-40. The Raiders went on a 20-5 in the 4th quarter to secure the win. Lucas Crismond pumped in 19 to lead four Coffee County players in double figures; Lance Crismond with 14, player of the game Addison Carter had 10 and Anthony Jackson also finished with 10.
Coffee County will host Shelbyville on Tuesday at the “The Patch”.

Coffee Co. Drops Games In Woodbury
In high school basketball last night in Woodbury it was Cannon County hosting Coffee County. The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Raiders 58-42. The gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game was Ginny Clayborne who scored 19 on the night.
Coffee Co. is now 1-2 on the year.
The folks from Woodbury would celebrate two wins as their boys knocked off Coffee County 50-41.
Lance Crismond the Player of the Game had another big night for the Raiders scoring a game-high 13 points.
The Raiders fall to 0-3 on the year.
Coffee County will play their first home game of the year at the newly renovated Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium tonight as Grundy County comes to Manchester for a 6pm tip-off. The games will heard live on Thunder Radio.

Motlow Player Signs To Play At Arkansas St
One of those players is Sean Gardner of Collierville, Tenn. who plays at Motlow College and move onto Arkansas St next season.
Gardner is a 6-4, 185-pound guard who is currently averaging a team-leading 16.0 points to go with 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists for the Bucks.
