The speed of the Tullahoma forwards, coupled with several missed scoring opportunities sent the Coffee County CHS soccer team down to a 5 to 1 defeat on Thursday night in Tullahoma. A pair of Wildcat goals by Shannon Reagan in the 7th and 17th minutes put Tullahoma ahead 2 to 0 at the half. The Lady Raiders got several excellent scoring opportunities in the first half but could not capitalize. Lady Raider keeper Ali Shelton kept the Lady Raiders in the match with a beautiful save at the 38 minute mark, one of at least a half dozen on the match.
After encouraging his team to be more aggressive in the second half, Lady Raider head coach David Amado saw his team do exactly that. Junior Holli Smithson centered a pass to Allie Amado in the box which Amado drilled home in the 48th minute to cut the Coffee County deficit to 1 goal. Tullahoma added a goal in the 55th minute to stretch the lead back to 2 just ahead of a pair of excellent Lady Raider scoring chances in the 58th and 61st minutes which Coffee County could not convert. Tullahoma added 2 late goals in the last 10 minutes to make an otherwise close match seem like a blow out. Coffee County will return to the pitch on Saturday in the Franklin County Tournament in Winchester. The Lady Raiders will take on Blackman at 9 AM and DeKalb County at 3:40 PM on Saturday.
