Tee Times Announced for Tuesday’s Golf State Championship

TSSAAThe Tee Times and Pairing for next week’s TSSAA State Golf Tournament are posted.   Lady Raiders tee off the 1st tee at: 8:30, 8:40 and 8:50 AM on Tuesday.  Savannah Quick will be in a foursome that tees off at 8:30 AM.  The foursome containing Sophie Vinson will tee off right behind Quick at 8:40, while Teagan Perry’s foursome will go off at 8:50.  The Coffee County Lady Raiders will be looking to improve on their state runner-up finish from last season.  Additionally, individual medalist honors are on the line for this talented trio of Lady Raiders.  You can find a complete listing of tee times, plus a link to live scoring for the event at: http://golf.tssaa.org/pairings.cfm?id=201502

Coffee County’s John Parigger is scheduled to begin his state title bid on the 10th tee at 9:50 AM.  Parigger will be competing for an individual state title in his first ever appearance at the state tournament.  “I am very excited” said Parigger following Monday’s region tournament performance.  When asked about any nervousness about playing in the state tournament, Parigger said: “Playing(at Willowbrook) will really help.”  For a complete listing of the boys tee times, you can see the listing at: http://golf.tssaa.org/pairings.cfm?id=201501

CCMS Soccer Team Completes Unbeaten Regular Season on Wednesday

The Coffee County Middle School Lady Raider soccer team closed out another unbeaten regular season on Wednesday with a 6 to 1 over North Franklin in Winchester. The Lady Raiders roared out to a 4 to 1 halftime lead on a pair of goals by Marley Perry along with single goals from Alexis Rayman and Journey Arnold. Julia Duncan got a pair of second half goals as she ran her season total up to 15. Coffee County will be the number 1 seed in the CTS Tournament coming up on Saturday, October 3rd. The CTC Tournament will be held in Tullahoma.  The JV Conference Tournament will be held on Saturday at Warren County

District 8AAA All District Golf Team Honors Several Raiders

The golf coaches of District 8AAA have announced the members of the 2015 District 8AAA All District teams. As is expected, both Coffee County teams are well represented as a total of 6 golfers were named to the squads. For the boys, Austin Farris, Hayden Proffitt and John Parigger were named to the squad. Elliot Smith of Shelbyville and Jack Uselton of Tullahoma were the Co-Players of the year. Tullahoma coach Barry Bishop was selected as the boys coach of the year.

For the girls, the state qualifying team of Savannah Quick, Teagan Perry and Sophie Vinson were members of the 6 person team. Malia Stovall of Franklin County was named the girl’s player of the year. Coffee County’s Mike Ray was named the girls coach of the year. The Lady Raider team, along with John Parigger, have qualified for next week’s state tournament to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday at Willowbrook.

CHS Cross Country Teams Post Strong Showing on Tuesday

The Coffee County CHS Cross Country teams got a total of 5 Top 25 finishes in the Arrowhead Ranch Meet in Normandy on Tuesday. James Lynn finished in 2nd place in the boys race, while Andy Rosson was 11th and Bradley Kishpaugh was 19th. Makenzie Morgan finished in 13th place while Byanka Woods came in 24th place for the girls. Other finishers for Coffee County were Neil Slone on 30th, Edgar Marceleno in 37th, Ben Reid in 47th and Moises Ramirez in 78th place in the boys heat. In the girls heat, Katie Folke finished 27th while Jasmine Farrar was 40th.

The Raiders and Lady Raiders will travel to Sewanee on Thursday, October 1st, for a meet at St. Andrews-Sewanee. The Coffee County Middle School runners will compete in the sectional cross country meet on Saturday at Sharp Springs Park in Smyrna.

Coffee County Volleyball Gets Impressive Win over Lincoln County on Tuesday

The Lady Raider volleyball team is not ready to give up their 2014 district crown just yet.   An incredible night at the net led the CHS volleyball team to a 4 set win over Lincoln County on Tuesday night in a huge district win at home for the Lady Raiders. Coach Andrew Taylor called the win the best match of the season for Coffee County as the Lady Raiders scored 50 kills and registered 13 blocks on his front line. In the back, the Lady Raiders got 67 digs and 36 assists to set up the front line offense. The Lady Raiders powered out to a 2 set lead winning the first 2 sets 25-20 and 25-22. The Lady Falcons clawed their way back into the match by winning the 3rd set 25-20 before Coffee County slammed the door in the 4th set with a 25 to 20 win.
Up front, Aerial Williams was the big star as she had 13 kills and 4 blocks on the night. Diana Davis added 9 kills while Kaylee Skipper added 8. Grace Spellings and Peyton Nicoll each had 4 blocks for Coffee County. On the back end, Davis and Maddie Taylor each had 13 digs while Nicoll added 12. Taylor had 18 assists and Nicoll added 17. Davis led the team in aces with 3. With the win, Coffee County improved to 8 and 2 in district play and into sole possession of 2nd place in the district.
The Lady Raiders are back in action on Thursday night as they play host to district leading Columbia in the final regular season home game of the year. A straight set win for Coffee County would draw the Lady Raiders into a tie with Columbia. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym.

Coffee Middle Football Hammers Warren County on 8th Grade Night

The Coffee County Middle School football team rolled up 436 yards of total offense on 22 offensive plays on Tuesday night in a 42 to 12 dismantling of Warren County on 8th grade night.  Coffee County scored 6 touchdowns on the night, the shortest scoring play registering 50 yards as the Red Raiders got the benefit of several big plays.  Tanner Hulvey scored 3 TD’s in the 1st half on a pair of 63 yard carries and one carry of 67 yards.  He finished the night with 193 yards on just the 3 touchdown runs and added a pair of 2 point conversions.

Brandon Jernigan scored twice in the 2nd half on runs of 79 and 50 yards, and Hayden Skipper had a 64 yard TD run on the first offensive play of the game.  Jernigan ended the night with 4 carries for 133 yards while Skipper finished with 4 carries for 76 yards.  The win improved Coffee County’s record to 6 and 1 overall and 4 and 1 in conference play.  The Red Raiders travel to White County next Tuesday for their regular season finale.  That game kicks off at 6:30

CHS Soccer Fights to a 1 to 1 Draw at Community on Tuesday

The Coffee County Central High School soccer team fought to a 1 to 1 draw in Unionville on Tuesday night in a non-district friendly with Community.  Caitlin Moore had the lone goal for Coffee County as she continued her hot scoring pace of the last few games.  The JV Lady Raiders also settled for a draw as they tied Community’s JV 4 to 4.  After the varsity draw, the Lady Raiders record stands at 7-7-2 on the season.     The Lady Raiders are back in action at home on Thursday as they play host to Cascade for Senior Night.  That match begins at 6:00 PM

CHS Volleyball Splits Pair of Matches at Warren County on Monday

VolleyballsThe Coffee County CHS volleyball team split a pair of matches in Warren County on Monday as a warm up to a busy week.  In the first match, Coffee County controlled the first set before service errors allowed the home standing Lady Pioneers to scratch out a 25 to 23 come from behind win.  Warren County closed out the best of 3 match with a 25 to 20 win in the second set to earn the sweep.  The Lady Raiders were forced to take on Tullahoma immediately following the Warren County match and the Lady Raiders took out their frustrations of the Lady Cats.  Coffee dominated in all aspects in the 2 set sweep of Tullahoma winning by set scores of 25-15 and 25 to 11.  The Lady Raiders host 2 pivotal district games this week as they welcome the top 2 teams in the district to the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym.  2nd place Lincoln County visits on Tuesday while district leading Columbia comes to town on Thursday.  Both matches begin at 6:00 PM.

CCMS Soccer Drops Warren County 5 to 1 on Monday

Journey Arnold got the scoring started off a feed from Duncan at the 5 minute mark to set the tone for the match for Coffee County. Coffee County stretched the lead to 2 to 0 off a corner kick from Jenna Garretson that Warren County inadvertently deflected into the net. The rout appeared to be on at the 25 minute mark as Duncan scored her 1st goal but a late goal by Warren County sent the match to the half at 3 to 1. The Lady Raiders matched Warren County’s physical play in the 2nd half as Duncan found the back of the net twice in the final 15 minutes to register her 2nd hat trick on the year. With the win, the Lady Raiders improved to 8-0-1 on the season. Coffee County hosts North Franklin on Wednesday at 5:00 PM in a friendly as the Lady Raiders look to complete their second straight unbeaten regular season.

Lady Raider Golf Team Wins 3rd Straight Region Title to Advance to State Tournament

For the 3rd straight season, the Coffee County Lady Raider golf team is Region 4AAA champions.  The Lady Raiders outdistanced 5 region qualifying teams on Monday at the Region 4AAA Golf Tournament in Tullahoma to make their 3rd straight trip to the TSSAA state golf tournament next week.  Savannah Quick fired a 79 to tie for 2nd lowest score on the day and Sophie Vinson carded an 80 for 4th medalist as the Lady Raiders outdistanced 2nd place Riverdale by 6 strokes.  Teagan Perry shot an 88 to round out the Lady Raiders scoring.  The Lady Raiders, who are the defending state runner-up, will open state tournament play on Tuesday, September 29th at Manchester’s Willowbrook Golf Club.

The Red Raider golfers finished in 2nd place behind region champion Tullahoma on Monday as their team score of 323 was 11 strokes back of the Wildcats.  John Parigger was the low scorer for Coffee County as he carded a 77 on the day.  Austin Farris, Samuel Prater and Reid Lawrence all came in at 82 while senior Hayden Proffitt ended his senior season with a long putt on the 18th green to finish at 87.  Parigger was the 4th medalist in the region and qualified for next week’s state tournament.  Parigger was quick to thank “my teammates, Coach Ray and especially my parents for all the support.  I also want to thank all my friends, fellow competitors and anyone else who has helped me get to get better.”  The Coffee County golf teams are coached by Mike Ray and Marshall Gilliam.
