Olivia Vinson was the leading scorer for Coffee County as she had 15 points. Sophie McIntruff added 7 points and Addi Sartain chipped in 6.
Brady Wright of CCMS basketball

Ryan Hartman scored twice and the Nashville Predators topped the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night, 4-1. It’s Nashville’s ninth victory of the season with wins coming directly following each of its three losses to date.
As of late, the Predators have been calling for more secondary scoring from their bottom three lines. A pair from Hartman, and another from Calle Jarnkrok in the third, went a long way toward solving that problem, and it led to another win in the process.
“It feels like the last few games, everyone’s kind of been gripping the stick a little bit because we knew we had to contribute,” Hartman said. “Tonight, we talked about it – just get that off your mind, just play hard, move your feet, take the body, and opportunities are going to come out of that.”
Reilly Smith gave Vegas the first lead when he beat Juuse Saros on the power play for a 1-0 advantage after 20 minutes, but the second period belonged to Hartman.
Halfway through the stanza, the Preds winger scored one of the prettier goals of the season, when he dangled around a Vegas defender and then beat Malcolm Subban on the backhand for his second of the campaign. Just 57 seconds later, Kevin Fiala found Hartman again, and his one-time shot found twine once more to give the Preds a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
“He had great moves tonight,” Fiala said of Hartman. “I just put it on his tape the first time and he made a great move.”
In the final frame, Kyle Turris found Jarnkrok to finish off a 2-on-1, and Viktor Arvidsson was awarded an empty-net goal late in regulation to seal the win, Nashville’s fourth at home to close out the season’s first month.
“We’ve been talking about our starts at home and our overall games at home,” Hartman said. “We weren’t really happy with ourselves after one [period], that was pretty obvious in the locker room afterward. After the first few shifts, we started picking things up and getting chances and moving our feet a little more. We did a good job in the second period and that carried into the third period.”
As of 10 p.m. CT on Tuesday, the Preds found themselves not only first in their division, but also atop the League standings as their October slate came to a close. And while they’re just 12 games in with another five-plus months to go, it’s a good start for a team that believes they can do great things.
“We’re a more experienced group,” Turris said. “I know we’re young, but I feel like we’re experienced after the last couple of years we’ve had. We just can’t lose two in a row in this League.”
You Have to Have Hart:
For a moment, it seemed plausible that Filip Forsberg had dressed as Ryan Hartman for Halloween.
However, it was indeed No. 38 himself who brought the house down on Tuesday with a goal worthy of League-wide praise, before he got another less than a minute later.
“Unbelievable,” forward Colton Sissons said of his teammate’s first marker. “I need to take a page out of his book and watch some video on it because it was a spectacular goal.”
Hartman’s teammates were as impressed as anyone with his first two-goal game in Nashville, but more importantly, his head coach saw a player who has the ability to put the puck in the net with regularity show signs of doing just that.
“It was really good to see him get going,” Preds Head Coach Peter Laviolette said of Hartman. “It’s been a little bit of a difficult summer for him. He got a little banged up in training camp and had to take a little more time off. There’s been a few games where he had an impact in earlier in the season and then has gone quiet for a little bit, but he had a really good game, especially on the rush.”
Notes:
Hartman scored twice in 57 seconds, but the Preds record for fastest two goals by the same player belongs to Scott Hartnell who had two in 23 seconds back in February of 2007.
With a goal in the third period, Viktor Arvidsson (5g-2a) is now on a five-game point streak.
Kevin Fiala now has four career points (1g-3a) against Vegas.
Defenseman Matt Irwin appeared in his first game of the season for Nashville, logging three hits in 11:16 of ice time.
The Predators will now jet off to Tampa Bay for a meeting with the Lightning on Thursday before returning home to host Boston on Saturday for Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Bridgestone Arena.
For the 2018 Football Playoffs, TSSAA will begin offering digital tickets for all playoff games through GoFan, the official digital ticketing partner of the TSSAA.
“Today’s spectators have come to expect conveniences like online and mobile ticketing and the ability to pay with a credit or debit card,” said Bernard Childress, Executive Director of TSSAA. “Our use of GoFan for digital ticketing the past few years at state championship events has been well received.”
Digital tickets sold through the GoFan platform will be “mobile-only” tickets, which means the digital ticket must be shown at the gate on the purchaser’s smartphone. Gatekeepers will simply tap the patron’s phone screen to validate the tickets.
Digital tickets may be purchased by visiting TSSAAsports.com or GoFan.co.
Credit card processing and service fees are paid by the purchaser, which means schools receive 100% of the ticket price and pay nothing to use the service. GoFan is a service of Huddle Tickets, which has provided no-cost ticket stock to TSSAA and it’s member schools for the past seven years.
Digital tickets will be available for sale online soon after each round of the playoffs is set. Participating schools can share the online ticket links through social media platforms, as well as email and text message campaigns.

Tournament MVP Alexandra Rouse scored the game-winning goal, her second of the game, just past the 71-minute mark to lead the Motlow State Community College Lady Bucks to a 3-2 victory over Southwest Tennessee and the TCCAA/Region VII Tournament championship Friday afternoon at St. George’s School in Collierville.
Motlow (11-4-2) advances to the NJCAA Central District Tournament, to be held in Godfrey, Illinois beginning Nov. 1. The Lady Bucks will face the host team, Lewis & Clark College, on the Trailblazers home pitch at a time yet to be announced. Prior to the trip, Motlow will host the Martin Methodist College JV Tuesday at 6pm at Tullahoma’s soccer field behind East Middle School.
The dramatic come-from-behind win, after the Lady Bucks trailed 3-2 early in the second half, came on the heels of a grueling 1-0 overtime win over Dyersburg State in Thursday’s tournament semifinals. Sophomore Tyler Feaster kicked the game-winning goal at the 98-minute mark to advance Motlow into the tournament finals.
Megan Blunhoefer got the Lady Bucks on the scoreboard first Friday, scoring an unassisted goal at 22:23 minutes. The Lady Saluqis bounced right back though, with Katie Smith scoring the first of her two goals five minutes later.
Smith scored her second goal two-and-a-half minutes into the second half, giving Southwest the 2-1 lead. The advantage didn’t last long though as Rouse scored just 45 seconds later to tie the contest at 2-2 and set the stage for her game winner.
Emily Bryant went the distance for Motlow at goal keeper, saving three Southwest shots at the goal. Motlow outshot the Lady Saluqis 18-7, including 11-5 in the second half, with Rouse, Feaster and Blunhoefer keeping the pressure on with 12 shots combined.
Rouse, from Oak Ridge, was named the tournament Most Valuable Player, while classmate Emily Vallejo, from Nashville, was named the league’s Freshman of the Year. Sophomore Natalie Feaster from Franklin County was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year. Natalie Feaster, Tyler Feaster, Kayla Moultry and Keely Smith were each named the All-TCCAA team.
Head Coach Andy Lyon, who built the new Motlow soccer program from scratch after being hired in September 2016, was named the TCCAA/Region VII Coach of the Year.
The Lady Bucks will face a significant challenge at the Central District Tournament. Lewis & Clark is undefeated and currently ranked No. 6 in the latest NJCAA poll. The Trailblazers have shut out 12 of the 16 opponents they have faced, after advancing to the national tournament last season.
