The Coffee County Middle School volleyball team traveled to Warren County on Thursday for a semifinal match-up in the CTC Postseason Tournament.  The Lady Raiders fought hard, but came up short in the match-up with Warren County.  The Lady Raiders fell by set scores of 20-25 and 20-25.

“We got beat, but (we) fought so hard” said Lady Raider coach Tori Taylor speaking about her team’s performance.  Coffee County finished the season with a record of 11 and 6 and finished the regular season and the tournament in 3^rd place.

The Coffee County CHS volleyball team welcomed Eagleville to the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym on Wednesday for a game in front of the student body.  In a season of phenomenal performances, Amanda Mukai became the 2^nd Lady Raider in as many weeks to set a new career record.  In the process, Coffee County swept Eagleville in straight sets 25-8, 25-20 and 25-23.

Mukai led the Lady Raiders in aces with 5 to become the career leader in service aces for the Coffee County program.  Mukai finished the match with 193 aces in her career passing Cameron Davis who owned the previous record with 189.  Kiya Ferrell added 3 aces as Coffee County finished with 12.  The Lady Raiders also got an amazing 30 kills as they finished the match with a strong hitting percentage of 27.8%.  Keelie Hillis led Coffee County in kills with 9.  Keri Munn added 8 kills while Ferrell finished with 6.  Munn led the team in blocks with 4 while Mukai also led the team in assists with 17.  Ferrell was the team leader in digs with 8 while Abigail Parker and Sarah West each had 6.

The Lady Raiders are back in action on Thursday when they travel to McMinnville to take on Warren County.  Opening serve is set for 4:30 PM.  Coach Andrew Taylor will be a guest on Saturday’s Coffee Coaches Show to talk about the season.  The Coffee Coaches Show is broadcast live each Saturday morning from 10 to 11 AM from the showroom of Al White Ford/Lincoln.  The Coffee Coaches Show is heard exclusively on Thunder Radio.

The Coffee County Elementary Cross Country League will hold their 3^rd race of the season on Thursday afternoon in Manchester.  The league is made up of 2 elementary schools in Tullahoma, both Manchester City School system elementary schools and all 6 elementary schools in the Coffee County School system.

Thursday’s 1 mile race will be held at the Manchester Soccer Park located on McMinnville Hwy directly across the street from J&G Pizza and Steak House.  The boys’ race will start at 4 PM with the girls’ race to follow.  The race is hosted by the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department.

The Coffee County Middle School football team traveled to Sparta on Tuesday night to take on White County.  The Red Raiders put their 4 game winning streak on the line as they needed a win to clinch a berth in the CTC Championship Game.  After falling behind early, the Red Raiders rallied to capture a 14 to 6 win.

White County got on the board first in the 1^st quarter when the White County quarterback scrambled in from 12 yards out to put the Warriors on top 6 to 0.  After a failed 2 point attempt, White County carried that lead deep into the 2^nd quarter.  Coffee Middle drove the ball to the 1 before a quarterback sneak by Cole Pippenger was stopped as time expired in the half.

In the 3^rd quarter, Jackson Shemwell hit Pippenger on a 30 pass completion down to the 1 yard line and Blayne Myers rumbled in for the touchdown on the next play.  After an Ethan Hargrove point after kick, Coffee Middle led 7 to 6.  In the 4^th quarter, Myers added an insurance score on a 4 yard run and Hargrove hit his 2^nd PAT kick to ice the win.

The win improves the Red Raiders to 5 and 1 in conference play and advances them to the CTC Championship Game on October 5^th.  Coffee County will earn a rematch with Tullahoma at Wilkins Stadium in Tullahoma.  Game time has not been determined but Thunder Radio will be on hand to bring you the broadcast of that game as part of the 1^st National Bank Hometown Sports Series.

The Coffee County Middle School volleyball team opened up play in the CTC Tournament on Tuesday night at Warren County.  Entering the tournament as the #3 seed, the Lady Raiders squared off against Harris.  The Lady Raiders kept their season alive with a straight set win over the Eaglettes.  Coffee Middle won by set scores of 25-15 and 25-15.

The Lady Raiders passed the ball well offensively and executed a strong service game to get the win.  Brayden Tomberlin led the Lady Raiders in kills on the match.

The Lady Raiders will return to Warren County on Thursday night for a semifinal matchup with Warren County.  Opening serve is scheduled for 5:30 PM.

The Westwood football team wrapped up their season on Tuesday night as they welcomed Community to Dyer-Bouldin Field.  The Rockets honored their 8^th graders with a pregame ceremony prior to the contest.  Due to injuries on the Community squad, Coach Chad Dyer agreed to a JV game with the Vikings.  Each team got a touchdown in the first half and that is how the game ended as Westwood and Community tied at 8.

Corey Stoval had the Westwood touchdown as he scored from 25 yards out.  Caiden Warren added the 2 point conversion on a run.  The 2 teams’ defenses combined to shut each other out in the 2^nd half as Westwood settled for a tie on 8^th Grade Night.  In the pregame, the 13 members of the Rockets 8^th grade class were honored.
