4/17/12 — Fred Clayton Wiser, Jr.

Graveside services for Mr. Fred Clayton Wiser, Jr., age 82, of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Farris Chapel Methodist Cemetery in Winchester.

 Mr. Wiser passed away on Sunday, April 15 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

4/17/12 — Gloria Mae Smith Vickers

Graveside services for Mrs. Gloria Mae Smith Vickers, age 67 of Manchester will be conducted Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Farrar Hill Cemetery with Bro. Tony Buchanan officiating.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, from 10:30 AM till 12:30 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Vickers passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.

She was born January 21, 1945 in Franklin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Jesse and Myrtle Jones Smith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her Grandchildren. She was a member of Christian Life Church in Tullahoma and attended Center Grove Baptist Church in Rock Spring, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Vickers and three brothers, Charles, J. T. and Samuel Smith.

Mrs. Vickers is survived by one son, Randy Smithson of Manchester; one daughter, Dr. Lisa Brooks and her husband Duane, of Rock Spring, Georgia; two brothers, Robert Smith and his wife, Wanda of Tullahoma and Albert Smith and his wife, Pam of Tullahoma; three sisters, Hazel O’Neal and her husband, Doug of Normandy and Della and Marie Smith, both of Kentucky; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center Grove Baptist Church, Rock Springs, Georgia

4/17/12 — Jessie Dean Teat Burchett

Jessie Dean Teat Burchett, age 95, passed away April 14, 2012 Southern Tennessee Medical Center.

Ms. Burchett was born June 20, 1916 in Franklin County to the late Jim and Sallie Evans Teat.

In her early years she worked at what was known as “the silk mill”. Several years later she moved to Nashville and worked as a beautician in the Cain Sloan Department Store and then worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company until she retired in 1995.

Upon her retirement she returned to Franklin County to care for her elderly mother. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, gardening and playing cards with her many friends, for whom she often served as their “Taxi Driver”.

She was an active member of the Franklin County Senior Citizens organization and faithfully attended the Winchester Church of Christ until her health began to fail.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Burchett is preceded in death by her brother, J.R. “Peaches” Teat and her faithful four legged companion, a Boston Terrier.

No immediate family survives Ms. Burchett but she does leave behind her two close friends, Jean Jones and Margaret Custer.

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 2pm from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Boggess officiating.

Interment will follow at the Winchester City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

4/16/12 — Cecil Wayne Shahan,

Cecil Wayne Shahan, age 86 of Winchester, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Willows at Winchester.

He was born August 29, 1925 in Franklin County; the son of the late J.S. and Oma (Nave) Shahan.

He was employed by Armstrong World Industries as a machine operator. He served his country in the US Army and was a Veteran of World War II.

Mr. Shahan was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (Holemon).

Surviving are son, Michael Shahan of Winchester, TN, daughter, Patricia Shahan of Winchester, TN, sister, Betty Jane Shahan of Ashland City, TN, and brother-in-law, Lewis Holemon, Jr.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday at Winchester Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Winchester.

4/17/12 — Jean Olive Gonzalez

Jean Olive Gonzalez, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday, April 15th, 2012 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma, at the age of 88. Ms. Gonzalez was born in Buffalo, New York to the late William and Dorothy Harris.

She was a homemaker and a member of The Tullahoma Senior Citizens Club and was active in the Meals On Wheels of Coffee County.

In addition to her parents Ms. Gonzalez is preceded in death by her husband, Leopold Gonzalez; three brothers, Robert, Frank, and William Harris.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Forrester and husband David of Columbia, TN; two grandchildren, Lauri Brown of Tullahoma, David Leavitt of Nashville; and three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Leavitt, Kayla Brown, and Abby Leavitt.

Visitation will be held at Kilgore Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17th at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at 3:00 p.m. in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Stan Breeden officiating.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

4/17/12 — MARILYN RUSSELL BRAZIER

MARILYN RUSSELL BRAZIER, age 60, of Tullahoma,Tenn., formerly of Franklin County, departed this life on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at her residence. 

She was a homemaker.  Mrs. Brazier was a member of the Harmony Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Brazier, Sr., daughters; Lesley Brazier and Jennifer (Chris) Brown all of Tullahoma, sons, Kenneth (Vicki) Brazier, Jr. and Gerald Brazier all of Manchester, brothers; James L. Russell, Joe L. Russell both of Estill Springs, Hugh L. Russell, Jr. of Winchester, Richard L. Russell and Patrick L. Russell both of Tullahoma. Grandchildren; Robbie Miller of Monteagle, Tyler Grieser and Britny Brazier both of Manchester, Jason Brazier and Christian Brazier both of Tullahoma. 

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, prior to the Service at 2:00 P.M., with Bro. William Pritchett officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Harmony Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

4/17/12 — Tammy Craig Davis

Tammy Craig Davis age 52, of Hillsboro, Graduated to Glory April 14, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side.

Ms. Davis was born on November 24, 1959 in Coffee County, Tennessee to the late James and Mary Sue Craig. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one son, Derrick Davis.

Ms. Davis is survived by her husband of 36 years Walter Davis of Hillsboro; son, Draper (Jenny) Davis Manchester; grandsons, Hayden and Dylan Davis of Manchester; granddaughter, Madison Kirksey of Hillsboro and one great-grandson; brothers, Tim Craig, Stanley Sanson, Ronald Sanson, Gary Sanson; sisters, Ram Womack, Clemmie Conn, Gail Gipson, Lucy Bennett; a host nieces, nephews and loved ones. 

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 1pm from the Decherd Church of God in Decherd.

Interment will follow in Mt. Garner Cemetery with Hayden Davis, Dylan Davis, Jody Watson, Johnny Watson, Travis Bowlin and Dennis Bowlin serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Madison Kirksey.

Visitation will be Monday, April 16, 2012 from 5-8pm at the Decherd Church of God.

4/15/12 — Lois Sanders Scroggins

Ms. Lois Sanders Scroggins, age 91, of Tullahoma, passed away Friday at the LifeCare Center of Tullahoma.

A native of Oklahoma City, OK, she was the daughter of the late Doc and Lena Sanders.

She was a retired ball sewer at Wilson’s Sporting Goods and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Franklin Scroggins in 1977.

She is survived by her son, Gerald (Brenda) Scroggins of Shelbyville, one granddaughter; Glenda (Tim) Maupin of Bradyville, one great grandson; Jason (Katie) McGee, one great granddaughter; Betty Horsley, four great great grandsons; Thomas and James McGee, and Alex and Tucker Horsley.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, April 15, 2011 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Moore County with Bro. Wayne Smith officiating.

4/16/12 — Floyd Clayton Meeks

Mr. Floyd Clayton Meeks age 68 of Tracy City, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2012.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Dessie Meeks, and his parents James and Delia Meeks.

Survivors include his children Rhonda (Charles) Mclain of Henagar, AL; and Norman (Carolyn) Meeks of Tracy City; grandchildren Kyle and CJ Mclain, and Cody and Samuel Meeks; Brothers and sisters Bud, Clay, Martin, Wilson, Linda, and Mary Meeks.

Mr. Meeks was a member of First Baptist Church, Tracy City.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ben Curtis officiating.

Burial will be in Gregg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

4/12/12 — Opal Hazen

Ms. Opal Hazen age 93 of Monteagle past away on April 12, 2012 at Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Ms. Hazen was the wife of the late R.C. Hazen and the daughter of Cassius and Gertrude Moore Hill of Marlette, MI.

Survivors include her daughters Linda (Bill) Anderson of Monteagle, and Carol (Larry) Short of Smyrna; 2 grandsons Gregory Short of Columbia, MD and Steve Short of Smyrna, TN; great- grandson Jeffery Short; sister Audrey (Ken) Morgan of Fulton, MO; and numerous Nieces and nephews.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
