04-22-12 Chad Harrison Crabtree

Funeral services for Chad Harrison Crabtree, age 17, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Westwood Junior High School in Manchester with Bro. Coy Hathcock officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 PM on Saturday, April 21 at Manchester Funeral Home.  The body will lie in state on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until time of service at Westwood Junior High School.  Chad passed away on Thursday, April 19 at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital following a long and courageous battle with leukemia.

 

Chad was born on January 1, 1995 in New Mexico, the son of Greg (Caroline) Crabtree and Shannon (Jack Glasgow) O’Kelley, both of Manchester.  He was an honors student, who was actively involved in the Beta Club and performing arts while at Westwood Junior High.  He was known for his love of dancing, to include break dancing and especially moon walking, after his admiration for the late Michael Jackson.  He also loved video gaming and his Ipad.

 

Chad was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Phillip O’Kelley.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by the love of his life and his best friend, Briana Salsbury, who was by his side through the good and the bad; two brothers, Casey Vickers and Hank Crabtree; one sister, Jaxen Glasgow, all of Manchester; maternal grandmother, Charlotte O’Kelley of Manchester; paternal grandparents, Dale and Lisa Crabtree of Winchester; and a host of family and friends.

 

Greg and Shannon want to acknowledge Chad’s extended family to include Jason (Amy) Vickers, who played an important role in Chad’s life, and their children, Preston Vickers and Nick Vaughn; Jason’s father, David (Cindee) Vickers, and Jason’s mother, Debbie (Felix) Nunley.

Chad’s last wish was for new televisions for every room on the 6th floor at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, which was granted by the Make A Wish Foundation.

04-22-12 Betty Sue Mayton Tway

Betty  Sue  Mayton Tway, age 72 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on April 19, 2012 at the Middle TN Medical Center in Murfreesboro.

She was a former restaurant owner and operator in Manchester and a homemaker.

She was born on January 15, 1940 in Manchester to her parents, the late Allen Mayton and Nora Cox Mayton.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Mayton Duncan of Manchester;  four children, James Douglas “J.D.” Curtis (Mary) of Beeville, TX,    Edward Dewain Curtis of Benton, Arkansas,    Dala Yvonne Reeves (Todd) of Benton, Arkansas   and Elizabeth Drew “Beth” Reunard of Beebe, Arkansas; special friend, Tollie C. Lee of Manchester; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 6:00 p.m.   until    9:00 p.m. and also on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Sunday at 3:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the Blantons.

4/20/12 — Marion Henry Rees

Mr. Marion Henry Rees 86 of Flat Creek died Wednesday, April 18th at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

He was born October 3, 1925 in Moore County.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II; Owner of Rees Metalcraft which manufactured steps and other products for the mobile home industry. He was a lifelong, faithful member of the Flat Creek Church of Christ where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Elder.

He was the son of the late Felix and Elma Sanders Rees. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Rees.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Mai Burrum Rees of Flat Creek; a son, Eddie Allen Rees, a brother, Felix Clayton (Billie) Rees of Tullahoma; two grandchildren, Cynthia (Cindy) Roberts of Lebanon and Riley Jane Rees; two great grandchildren, Keliegh Grace Roberts and Joe Braydon Roberts.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 20th at Hillcrest Funeral Home Marvin Whitworth officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Friday prior to the service.

4/19/12 — Linda Jane Carr Kesler

,  age 65, of Winchester,Tenn.passed away suddenly at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. 

Ms. Kesler was employed for approximately 22 years as a sewing machine operator at Tennessee Apparel before becoming disabled.  Her hobby was crocheting. 

She is survived by her son, Jimmy “Butch” Meadows, Jr. and wife, Leslie of Tullahoma, Tenn., daughters; Jimmie DeEtta Douglas of Manchester, Terri Lee Kesler of Lynchburg, Linda (Kenneth) Reese of Estill Springs, her boyfriend of twenty years, Don Pete Watkins, of Winchester. Sister, Willie Overcast, brothers; Jesse James Carr, Jr. and Louis Wayne Carr, all of Tullahoma,Tenn.  8-grandchildren and 5-great-grandchildren.  

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

4/20/12 — Gladys Bell Brown Newsome

Mrs. Gladys Bell Brown Newsome age 92 of Monteagle, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012,at The Bridge in Monteagle.

A native of Rutherford County, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late George Emerson Brown and Mary Ella Aylor Brown and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Newsome; daughters, Betty Cook and Nell Cornelison; grandson, Charles Cook.

Survivors include her children, Buford (O’Dea) Newsome, Monteagle, Cordell (Debbie) Newsome, Tracy City, Ruth (Tony) Bailey, Monteagle, Rebecca Newsome, Monteagle; grandchildren, Carol Thomas, Reuben Newsome, Clay Newsome, Heather Brown, Nat Newsome, Ricky Cornelison, Edward, Cornelison, Walter Cook, Lisa Taylor and Tonya Kimbro; 23 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Wayne Simpson officiating.

Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home.

4/19/12 — Tammy Walls Wooten

Tammy Walls Wooten, age 44 of Cowan, passes away April 17, 2012 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center.

Ms. Wooten is preceded in death by her father, Jack Walls and grandfather, Calvin Walls.

She is survived by her daughters, Shalee and Tamaria Wooten of Cowan; sons, Justin Wooten of Ohio and Jeremy Wooten of Cowan; mother Odus Walls Hart of Decherd, TN; grandmother, Julia  M. Walls.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 2pm from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home. 

 Interment will follow in Watson-North Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Thursday from 12pm until time of service.

4/20/12 — George Leroy Huey

George Leroy Huey, of Lynchburg, passed this life Tuesday, April 17th at Lynchburg Nursing Center at the age of 75.

Mr. Huey was born in DuBois, PA.

He worked as a mechanic for Ford Motor Company and was of the Baptist faith. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Huey loved to race cars, pull tractors and work on lawn mowers.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Huey.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19th from 5:00-8:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 20th, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be at Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville, TN.

4/18/12 — David Windell Kiningham

David Windell Kiningham, age 72 of Cowan passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at Southern TN Medical Center.

He was born Aug 17, 1939 to the late Herman Cowan Kiningham and Nola Bea Williams Kiningham.

He was the business manager for Russell Barnett Chrysler Dodge dealership and was a member of Cowan First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by  two brothers, Thomas Cowan Kiningham and John Allen Kiningham.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Guyear Kiningham; daughters,  Dr. Kinsley Kelley Kiningham of Nashville and Lisa Kiningham Jernigan of Cowan; stepdaughter, Crystal Stovall (Erik) Pearson of Cowan; stepson, Major James Gordon (Crystal) Stovall of Navarre, FL; brother, James Nolan Kiningham and wife, Ethel Knoer Kiningham of Cowan; grandchildren, Emily Jernigan, Ryan Jernigan, Andrew Pearson, James Pearson and Malia Stovall; sisters-in-law, Sue Hoots Kiningham and Mary Merle Kiningham, both of Cowan; nieces, Lynda Kiningham Fernander and Tammy Kiningham Sullivan; great nephews,  Jon Fernander, Matthew Sullivan and Jamie Sullivan.

Visitation is 5-8 PM Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Tim Brown and Rev. Harry Green officiating.

4/21/12 — Betty J. Tipton

Betty  J.Tipton, age 75 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on April 13, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Winchester, TN.

She was a retired Pastor; a former member of the Tried Stone Evangelistic Temple; and past president of Michigan Aglow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Allen and Cynthia Jones Allen; brothers, Harold Allen and Earl Allen; and son, Randall Allen Noe.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lee R. Tipton of Manchester, TN; children, Francene Posey and her husband Roger of Estill Springs, TN,  Teresa Romanoff and her husband Alec of Franklin, TN  and Billie DeWitt and her husband Jeffrey of Grand Blanc, MI; sisters, Lorene Maxwell, Blanche Posey and Hellen Bumgartner; brothers, John Allen, Paul Childers, B.C. Allen and Gary Allen; ten grandchildren, Rebbecca Noe, Rachel Noe, Andrea Noe, Ryan Noe, Craig Morea, Lisa Duby, Cory DeWitt, Jill Johnson, Brittany Maddox and Mandilyn Maddox; ten great-grandchildren, Samuel Morea, Cole Morea, Erica DeWitt, Emilee DeWitt, Eryn Johnson and Evan Johnson, Samantha Duby, Analise Duby, Abigail Duby and Trinity Duby; daughter-in-law, Patricia Noe; and a host of friends.

4/19/12 — Homer Lee Mathis

Homer Lee Mathis, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, April 16th, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center, at the age of 75.

Mr. Mathis was born to the late Floyd and Lota Mae Mathis and was a member of the Vine Street Church of God.

He worked as a self employed carpet installer.

He is survived by his wife, Jenell Mathis; two daughters, Patricia Allen of Tullahoma, Tracey Wellman and husband Robert of Tullahoma; one son, Terry Mathis of Tullahoma; one brother, Cecil Mathis also of Tullahoma; four grandchildren, Nacole Hullett, Brittany Haggard, Ryan Wellman, and Tyler Wellman; four great-grandchildren, Ally Haggard, Kyler Haggard, Lestat Wellman, and Zach Fletcher.

Visitation will be held at Kilgore Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 18th from 5:00-9:00pm.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 19th at 11:00am, in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Eddie Blazer, Bro. James Hart, and Bro. R.B. Bewley officiating.
