7/6/12 — Robert C. Thomas

Mr. Robert C. Thomas age 85 of Monteagle passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, in Golden Living Center in Winchester.

He was a retired carpenter, having built many homes on the mountain with his brother, David. Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran and was an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teddy Thomas; son, Robert “Bobby” Thomas; daughter, Johnnie Lee Maxwell.

Survivors include his daughter, Angela Thomas; grandchildren, Stephanie Kopek, Christopher Kopek, Phillip and Eric Lewis; brothers, Carlton Thomas and David Thomas both of Monteagle; sister, Charlene Lowrie, Monteagle.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with his nephew, Reverend Charles David Thomas and Claude Hoback officiating.

Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends Thursday 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

7/4/12 — Jeffery “Jeff” Burks

Jeffery “Jeff” Burks age 43, of Huntland passed away July 2, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Burks was the owner and operator of American Detail. He loved spending time outdoors hiking and being in the country. Mr. Burks was an avid NASCAR fan. He will be remembered by his family and a good and loving, husband, son, brother and uncle.

Mr. Burks is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Burks.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Partin Burks of Huntland; mother, Dot Hart of Winchester; sister, Angela Cooley of Winchester; niece, Madyson Damron of Winchester; nephew, Tristan Cooley of Winchester.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 11:00am with Bro. John Partin and Bro. L.Z. Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Rodney Davis, Keith Davis, Brace Williams, Robert Sullivan, Robert Hutto and Mike Partin serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 5-9pm from Watson-North Funeral Home.

7/5/12 — Mary Jane Haley Teal

Mary Jane Haley Teal, age 75 of  Manchester, TN, passed away on July 2, 2012 at the Manchester Health Care  Center.
She retired from Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) after  serving many years as a Engineering Assistant and was a member of the New Union  Church of Christ.
She was born in Coffee County, TN to her parents, the late  Alonzo Haley and Elva Ferrell Haley. Mrs. Teal was also preceded in death by her  daughter, Martha Teal Holt and brother, John Kendall Haley.
She is survived by  her loving husband, Ray Teal of Manchester, TN; son, Stan Teal and his wife  Chandra of Tullahoma, TN; daughter, Anita Teal Royster and her husband Ron of  Manchester, TN; three brothers, Wayne Haley (Helen), David Haley (Linda)  and  Jerry Haley; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey R. Teal (Rachel), Jonathon  R. Teal (Jan), Joseph R. Teal, Elizabeth Faulkner-Rhyne (Stewart), Emma F. Holt,  Karla A. Royster and Samuel E. Royster; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin R.  Teal and Aubreek Teal; son-in-law, Michael Holt; sister-in-law, Pat Haley;and a  host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 5,  2012 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will  follow at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home. Burial  will be on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Gnat Hill Cemetery.

7/4/12 — Heisey Keele

Heisey Keele , age 84 of Manchester, TN, passed  away on July 2, 2012 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
He retired  after 30 years as a Maintenance Engineer with Cutter Laboratories, Inc. in  Chattanooga.
He was born in Manchester, TN to his parents, the late Zackery  Taylor Keele and Lillian Agnes Jones Keele.
He was also preceded in death by his  sisters, Sadie Clouse, Leona Wilhelm, L.C. Vickers, Olsen Shelton and infant  sister Elvie Keele; and brothers, Ellis Keele, Oscar Keele, Bart Keele and  Leighton Keele.
Heisey will fondly be remembered as one who loved his family and  enjoyed his music. He was a member of the Forest Mill Baptist Church.
He is  survived by his wife, Jewell Parks Keele of Manchester, TN; sons, Stanley W.  Keele and his wife Kathy of Manchester,   Joe M. Keele and his wife  Charlotte of Hillsboro   and   Gary A. Keele and his wife  Rhonda of Decatur, TN; seven grandchildren, Jeffery W. Keele, Jennifer Nogodula,  Julie Keele, Wesley Keele, Maggie Millraney, Taylor Keele and Hunter Keele; four  great-grandchildren, Jaydee Nogodula, Jenslee Nogodula, Riley Keele and Audrey  Keele; his friends and musicians at the Coffee County Senior Citizens; and a  host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, July  3, 2012 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The Funeral Service will be conducted on  Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home. 
Entombment will follow at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

7/6/12 — Jerry Wayne Riddle

Jerry Wayne Riddle, age 67 of Huntland, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012, in Elora, Tennessee.

He was born January 14, 1945 in Tullahoma; the son of the late Clifford and Roberta (Hodge) Riddle.

He worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Highway Department and served his country in the US Army in Vietnam.

Surviving are sons, Justin (Amanda Gifford) Riddle of Huntland, TN, Clint Riddle of Huntland, TN and Clifford Riddle of Springfield, MO, daughter, Heather Braun of Willard, MO, brother, John Riddle of Louisville, KY, sister, Sheila Riddle of Phoenix, AZ; and grandchildren, Ben Braun, Amber Thomason, Alex Riddle and Robert Dudley.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 323 Neal St., Huntland.

7/4/12 — Gladys Sue Berryhill

Gladys Sue Berryhill, age 86 of Decherd, Tennessee passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012, at her home.

She was born June 1, 1926 in Decherd; the daughter of the late John Edward and Mary Ann (Walls) Penny.

She was employed by JC Penney as a sales clerk and loved shopping and dancing.

Mrs. Berryhill was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Hop Berryhill, brother, John Thomas Penny, sister, Lelia Mae Limbaugh.

Surviving are son, Billy (Diane) Whitfield of Murfreesboro, TN, daughters, Janice (Daniel) Rowbottom of Maple Valley, WA and Brenda Hixson of Decherd, TN, brothers, Nelson Penny of Decherd, TN and Donald (Helen) Penny of Decherd, TN; grandchildren, Major Hixson, Troy Hixson, Lisa Rowbottom, Douglas Rowbottom, Stacie Whitfield, Carey Hight, and Jennifer Loftis and nine great-grandchildren. special niece, Sharon Penny as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.

Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester.

7/2/12 — DAVID JOSEPH STUBBLEFIELD

DAVID JOSEPH STUBBLEFIELD, age 50, of Manchester, departed this life on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville following a brief illness.

Mr. Stubblefield was formerly a resident of Illinois for many years and a graduate of Franklin County High School.

He was a truck driver for over twenty years.  Mr. Stubblefield enjoyed fishing in his spare time.  He was a loving son, brother, and father.

Mr. Stubblefield is survived by his daughter, Jessica Stubblefield of Madison, Tenn., mother, Margaret Stubblefield of Winchester and father, Chester (Liz) Stubblefield of Tullahoma, sisters; Mary Russell of Winchester and Cassandra Stubblefield of Smyrna, Tenn.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Monday, July 02, 2012 at the Abundant Life Church, Winchester, Tenn. with Pastor Jerry Jochem officiating.

7/6/12 — Margaret Dorothy Jean Garner

Margaret Dorothy Jean Garner, age 78 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

She was born July 13, 1933 in Tullahoma; the daughter of the late Cecil Benjamin and Emma Idella (Nelson) Clubs.

She was a beautician at Jean’s Beauty Shop for eighteen years.

Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by brother, Doris Clubs, sisters, Irene Woodward, Francis Detrick and Ruthy Harris and great-grandchild, Madison Glenn Tate.

Surviving are husband, Bobby Joe Garner, son, Benjamin Edward Garner of Peoria, IL, daughters, Amy (Richard) Moulton of Layton, UT, Linda (Mitchell) Bradford of Tullahoma, TN, Candy (Darrel) Davis of Tremont, IL and Teresa (Randy) Thome of Washington, IL; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Blackburn and Norma Jean Garner; twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and her three little dogs, Bam Bam, Squirt and Baby.

A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Bishop Joel Davenport officiating.

Interment will be in O’Dear Cemetery, Sewanee, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester.

7/5/12 — Carlton Leroy Garner Jr.

Mr. Carlton Leroy Garner Jr., age 81, of Tullahoma, passed away Sunday at McArthur Manor in Manchester.

He is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina and is the son of the late Carlton Leon and Lalla Griffith Garner Sr. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Garner.

He attended 1st United Methodist Church in Tullahoma, was a US Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean War and was a retired Engineer at A.E.D.C. and was a graduate of North Carolina State University.

The family request that memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Janet Cunningham of Tullahoma, Mari Jane Garner of Hillsboro, Sharon (Clay) Thomas of Lynchburg, grandchildren, Allison and Ryan Cunningham, Erin and Katie Thomas, brother in law, Bill (Sylvia) Caldwell of Charlotte, NC and sister in law, Ann Garner Watrous of Ashville, NC.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00AM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.

A Private Family Burial will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

7/5/12 — Katherine Riddle Stewart Cates

Mrs. Katherine Riddle Stewart Cates, age 83, passed away Monday at Harton Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of the Awalt Community, in Franklin County; she was the daughter of the late Tobe and Dovie Smith Stewart.

She was a retired CNA from the LifeCare Center of Tullahoma and was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; George E. Cates and her former husband, Orville Riddle, two brothers; A.C. Stewart and Dalton Stewart, and one daughter; Carole Davis Bearden Moore.

She is survived by two daughters; Nancy (Bob) Lawrence of Tullahoma, Sarah (Steve) McPherson of Vance, AL, one son; Terry Riddle of Tullahoma, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grand children, and 2 great great grandchildren, and her beloved dog Twiggy.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Thursday, at 10:00AM, at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma with Bro. Billy Ray Painter officiating.

The family suggests that donations be made to the Tullahoma Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 807, Tullahoma, TN. 37388.
