8/16/12 — Becky Newsome

Becky Newsome, age 55 of Monteagle, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at her nieces home.

Becky attended Tracy City Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gladys Newsome, sisters, Betty Cook and Nell Cornelison, nephew, Charles Cook.

Survivors include her brothers, Buford (O’Dear) Newsome, Monteagle, TN; Cordell (Debbie) Newsome, Tracy City, TN; sister, Ruth (Tony) Bailey, Monteagle, TN; nieces & nephews, Tonya Kimbro, Heather Brewer, Carol Thomas, Reuben Newsome, Clay Newsome, Nat Newsome, Ricky & Edward Cornelison, Walter Cook, and Lisa Taylor.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the Monteagle Cemetery with Minister Carl Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.

8/13/12 — Cheryl Seats

Cheryl Seats age 66, of Winchester, passed away August 13, 2012 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center.

Ms. Seats is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Reba Nelson.

She is survived by her companion of 8yrs, David Wiseman; children, Sandy (Tom) Satterfield of Austin, TX, Tim (Brenda) Wright of Winchester, TN, Randy Wright of St. Petersburg, FL and Eddie Wright of Vancouver, Washington; grandchildren, Jennifer, Kimberly, Zachary, Hope, Vince, Brandon, Chris, Cheryl, Rita and Phillip; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Jessie, Sean, Connor; siblings, Barbara, Debbie, Richard, Bill, Bobby and Mike; a host of nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

8/17/12 — Joe Byron Mansfield

Joe Byron Mansfield, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, August 13th, 2012 at his residence, at the age of 82.

Mr. Mansfield was born in Palmersville, TN to the late Sylvester Atlas “Beck” Mansfield and Ada Adell Ross Mansfield and was a Steward and member of Walnut Grove Methodist Church in South Fulton, TN.  He served in the United States Navy, was also a member of the A.E.M.T.C. Union and the American Legion Post 43. He was formerly employed at Union Carbide located in Padukah, KY and was a power dispatcher for A.E.D.C.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mansfield is preceded in death by two brothers, Ross Mansfield and Billy Mansfield.

He is survived by his wife, Clareda Mansfield; one daughter, Terri Mansfield Bainbridge of Nashville; three sons, Joel Mansfield and wife Brenda, Tim Mansfield and wife Viva, and Jonny Mansfield and wife Karen all of Tullahoma; one brother, Bobby Mansfield and wife Patsy of Martin, TN; three sisters, Sherry Ross and husband Paul of Greenfield, TN, Jerry Sandvig of Fort Myers, FL, Judy Cody and husband Tom of ME; five grandchildren, James Mansfield, Laurie Perry, Amanda Wright, Sarah Mansfield, and Dustin Mansfield; six great-grandchildren, Will, Emalee, Samuel, Andrew, Hayley, and Landon.

Visitation will be held at Kilgore Funeral Home on Thursday, August 16th, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm.

Funeral Services are Friday, August 17th, 2012 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Jimmy Wright and Bro. Jimmy Hodge officiating.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

8/18/12 — Kathryn Ruth “Kathy” Morgret

Kathryn Ruth “Kathy” Morgret of Tullahoma died on Sunday, July 8th, 2012 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma, at the age of 66.

Kathy was a long-time member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tullahoma.

She was born Kathryn Ruth Fischer on October 10, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Kathy attended Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati through 1962 and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1963. She received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Washington in 1970, and a law degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 1977. She practiced law in Seattle, in Roundup, Montana, and in Hardin, Montana.

Following the death of her first husband, Clarke Baylis, in 1988, Kathy retired from the practice of law, moved to Tullahoma and in 1990 married Charles Morgret. An avid needlecrafter, in 1991 Kathy cofounded (with Susan Lazear) the Crafts Forum on CompuServe, a pioneering online community promoting collaboration and nurturing friendship among craft artists around the nation and the world ever since. With the help of a dedicated volunteer staff, she actively managed the Crafts Forum (now hosted on ForumsAmerica) until 2009.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Lueders.

She is survived by her beloved husband Charles “Chuck” Morgret of Tullahoma, father Henry Fischer of Poulsbo, WA, sister Peggy Kent of Poulsbo, WA, sister Suzanne Reynolds and her husband Dennis of Port Townsend, WA, mother-in-law Violet Berrie of Everett, PA, sister-in-law Teryl Shryack and her husband Steve of Worland, WY, brother-in-law Victor Kreider Morgret and his wife Michelle of Annville, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Coffee County Lannom Memorial Public Library, 312 N. Collins St., Tullahoma, TN 37388; or Franklin County Humane Society, P. O. Box 187, Winchester, TN 37398.

A memorial service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 18, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tullahoma, 3536 New Manchester Highway, Tullahoma, TN.

8/15/12 — David Matthew (Matt) Milner, Sr.

David Matthew (Matt) Milner, Sr. age 30 of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his brother Timothy Brandon Milner, and his maternal grandparents Jesse Earl Sr. and Willie Mae Pack.

Survivors include his loving wife Trish Milner; parents Steven and Debra Milner, Corpus Christi, TX; children David Matthew Milner Jr., Chelsea McGrath, and Austin McGrath; brother Edward Milner; niece Naomi Milner Nashville, TN; grandparents Joe and Naomi Milner, Sewanee, TN; father and mother in law Butch and Flo East, Corpus Christi, TX; cousins April, Joe III., Angela, Anna, Casey, Boone, Clea, Josh, Sara, and Rachael; life brothers and the Four Stars in Texas

Services will be 4:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Steve Owenby officiating.

Burial will follow in Monteagle Cemetery.

8/18/12 — James Christopher Clews

Mr. James Christopher Clews, age 51, of Normandy, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church on Blanton Chapel Road in Manchester.

Mr. Clews was born in Pompano Beach, FL, the son of the late John Christopher Clews and Barbara Ann (Eugene) Christian Armstrong of Manchester.

He made a living doing what he enjoyed, which was landscaping and lawn work. He also enjoyed raising German Shepherd puppies.

In addition to his father, Mr. Clews was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Clews.

Along with his mother and step father, Mr. Clews is also survived by his loving wife, Lorna Clews of Normandy; his father-in-law, Warren Mann; one sister, Brenda (Everette) Herbs of Manchester; and niece, Suzanne Herbs and nephews, J.J. Herbs, David Biddy and Keaton Mann.

8/17/12 — Joe Milton Jones

Joe Milton Jones, age 79 of Belvidere, passed away Friday August 10, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

He was a native of Lincoln County and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He later retired from Wilton Corporation following more than thirty years of service. He also worked for Franklin County Waste management. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union and Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Vera Smith Jones and his father, Elmer Andrew Jones; a brother Eli Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Willene Shockley Jones of Belvidere; daughter, Debbie Jones Smith of Belvidere; sons, Joe Steven Jones and Jeff Jones, both of Belvidere, Barry (Brenda) Jones of Fayetteville; Jason (Ashley) Jones of Hillsboro; sisters, Wilma Foster of Fayetteville, Linda (Bill) Poarch, also of Fayetteville, Jean Jackson of Belvidere; brothers, Earl Jones of Fayetteville, Ray (Becky) Jones of Belvidere; grandchildren Christina Smith (Pete) Sirten, Larry (Brandie) Smith, Nicolas Smith, James Morris, Sheena (David) Thompson, Christopher Smith, Gregory (Leslie) Jones, Savanna Jones, Holly Jones and Miranda White; great-grandchildren, Abriella Hershman and Carson Thompson.

The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Friday August 17, 2012.

Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Flintville with friends and family members serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-9 and Friday evening 4-9 at Watson-North Funeral Home.

9/14/12 — Terry Ray Shinkel

Memorial services for Mr. Terry Ray  Shinkel, age 55, of Hillsboro, will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday,  September 14, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel. 

Visition with the family will be from  9:00 AM until time of services. 

Mr.  Shinkel passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical  Center in Nashville, following a long battle with  leukemia.

Mr. Shinkel was born in Saginaw,  Michigan, the son of the late Myron Shinkel and Joyce Milwrick Shinkel.  He was employed as a dock manager for  General Motors and attended St. Mark’s Catholic  Church.

In addition to his father, Terry was  also preceded in death by a sister, Dolores. 

He is survived by his wife, Sue Shinkel  of Hillsboro; one son, Jamie Shinkel of Riverdale, MI; two daughters, Lisa  (Ronnie) George of Springhill, TN and Sara (Dennis) Brooks of Lebanon; three  brothers, Albert, Lee, and Butch Shinkel; three sisters, Pat, Jenny, and  Joyce-Ann; three grandchildren, Abby, Nate, and Jake George; and several nieces,  nephews, and cousins.

8/15/12 — Forest Ramsey Wilson, Jr.

 

Mr. Forest Ramsey Wilson, Jr. age 78 of McMinnville, TN, died Monday, August 13, 2012, at N.H.C. Health Care in McMinnville, TN.

He was born June 30, 1934, in Warren County, TN, was retired machine designer, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents Forest and Alma Bratcher Wilson.

Survivors include his wife Betty Tittsworth Wilson, McMinnville, TN, daughter Vicky Wilson Spellings and husband George, Manchester, TN, grandchildren Ryan Jones, Nashville, TN, and Jonathan (Carrie) Jones, Jackson, TN, great-grandchildren Audrey, Jeremiah, and Jonathan Jones, sister Shirley (Ray) Durham, Manchester, TN, niece and nephew Shelia and Michael Durham, and brother-in-law James Tittsworth, McMinnville, TN.

Funeral service is 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Brenton Cox will officiate.

Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

The Wilson Family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

8/14/12 — Jack Easter Green

Jack Easter Green age 70 of Sewanee passed away August 12, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Thomas and Gladys Jane Green, his loving wife Alice Jean Green, brothers John Henry Green, and Richard Douglas Green, sister Floy Ann Caldwell.

Survivors include his children Charles A. Green of Sewanee, Angela Christine McAdams of Acworth, GA, and Mary Jane Green of Sewanee; brothers and sisters; Jim Green, Sue Lappin, Frances Lappin, and Pete Green all of Sewanee, Diane Vandiver of Florida; 4 grandchildren, several nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Thomas George officiating.

Burial will be in O’Dear Cemetery with full military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Monday 5–9 P.M. at the funeral home.
