9/8/12 — Horace Willard Reed

Funeral Services for Mr. Horace Willard Reed, age 88, of Bradyville will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10 AM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Bro. Doyle Sadler and Bro. Joe Herbert Sissom officiating.

Burial will follow at Gilley Hill Cemetery in Cannon County.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, September 7, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Reed passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Mr. Reed was born March 1, 1924 in Hollow Springs, Tennessee, the son of the late Joe N. and Elsie Sissom Reed.

He was a WW II veteran serving as a Seaman First Class in the U. S. Navy. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from MTSC. Mr. Reed worked as a Timekeeper in the Payroll Department of AEDC for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Robert Reed and one sister, Bonnie Ewing.

Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Nila Spry Reed of Bradyville; one son, Terry Reed of Manchester; one daughter, Carolyn Willis and her husband, Jim of Christiana; one sister, Grace Morgan of Greenwood, Indiana and two grandsons, John Willis of Bradyville and James Willis of Christiana.

9/5/12 — RALPH DOUGLAS REESE

RALPH DOUGLAS REESE AGE 82, OF LYNCHBURG PASSED AWAY ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 3, 2012 AT HIS RESIDENCE.

A NATIVE OF MOORE COUNTY, HE WAS A SON OF THE LATE LEE AND DORA PHILPOT REESE.

HE WAS RETIRED FROM CATAPILLAR TRACTOR IN AURORA,IL. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH OF CHRIST AT CEDAR LANE, #509 FARRIS CREEK LODGE AND LYNCHBURG OES #492.

THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2012 FROM 5 – 8 P.M. AT LYNCHBURG FUNERAL HOME.

SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 5, 2012 AT 1:30 P.M. AT THE LYNCHBURG FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL WITH BRO. PAT ALLISON AND BRO. STEVE HOVATER OFFICIATING.

MR. REESE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 44 YEARS BETTY REESE OF LYNCHBURG.SONS; MICKY JOE ( JILL) REESE AND RICKY DOUGLAS REESE BOTH OF SHELBYVILLE. 9/8/12 — Jimmy Wayne Norton

Memorial services for Mr. Jimmy Wayne  Norton, age 54, of Manchester, will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday,  September 8, 2012 at New Life Church in Manchester. 

Mr. Norton passed away on Monday,  September 3 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in  Nashville.

Mr. Norton was born in Manchester, TN,  the son of the late Jesse and Alice Rogers Norton. 

He was owner/operator of Norton Lawn and  Landscape in Manchester and also operated Little Duck River Kennel.  He enjoyed collecting knives and  arrowheads.  He coached his  daughters’ softball team, The Blue Devils.  Jimmy also enjoyed tropical fish.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Norton  was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe  Norton.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of  35 years, Cathy Clabough Norton of Manchester; two daughters, Jamie (Kevin)  Welsh of Indianapolis, IN and Terri (Michael Partin) Millraney of Manchester;  In-laws, Gene and Carolyn Clabough of Manchester; 10 grandchildren, Michael  Allen Partin, Jr., Marissa Partin, Jordan Welsh, Kaleigh Partin, Kaylee  Millraney, Hannah Bryce, Jordyn Norton, Evan Norton, Kevin Welsh, III, and  Kaitlin Welsh; two aunts, Dorthy Lackey and Bobbie Sue Stem; and several  cousins.

9/7/12 — Lloyd “Button” Eliga McCormick

Funeral Services for Mr. Lloyd “Button” Eliga McCormick, age 57, of Manchester will be held Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11 AM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

Burial will follow at Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. McCormick passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Medical Center of Manchester.

Mr. McCormick was born May 22, 1955 in Coffee County, Tennessee, the son of the late William Lloyd McCormick and Geraldine Cagle Vincent of Manchester.

He was a U S Army Veteran and worked as a Technician.  He enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Dawn Marie Martinsen.

In addition to his mother, “Button” is survived by his step-father, William W. Vincent of Manchester; one brother, Billy Robert McCormick of Manchester; three sisters, Julie Louise Trammell, Tammy C. Stratton and Gina Lynn Swoape and her husband, Ralph, all of Manchester; seven nieces, Misty D. McCormick of Tullahoma, Jennifer L. Trammell of Florida, Christy L. Trammell of Manchester, Shirley F. Trammell of Tullahoma, Amber R. Stratton of Manchester, Tiffany N. McCormick of Florida and Jessica D. Swoape of Manchester; and two nephews, Joshua E. Swoape and Dylan H. C. McCormick, both of Manchester.

9/6/12 — Melanie Jean Simmons

Melanie  Jean Simmons, age 58 of Hillsboro,  Tennessee, passed away on September 3, 2012 with her loving family by her side. 
She was preceded in death by her father, the late Walter   Simmons.
Melanie will be fondly remembered as one who loved her family and  friends, and one who loved to paint, draw, quilt, write poetry, sing in the  choir and participate in the Special Olympics. Melanie was a member of the  Hillcrest Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 
She is survived by her mother, Aleta Maie Carter Simmons of Hillsboro, TN;  sisters, Dianne (Ross) Reed of Hillsboro, TN,     Sharon  Greenfield of Murfreesboro   and Cathey Pressley of Hillsboro;  nephews, Stephen Reed, Jason (Tracey) Reed, Josh Greenfield, Dustin (Jessica)  Presley; nieces, Amber Greenfield, Cindy (Jason) Ford and Mandy (Shane) Strunk;  and a host of friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from  5:00 p.m.  until  8:00 p.m.
The Funeral Service will be conducted on  Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home  with Pastor Bobby Rushing officiating.
Burial wil follow at the Simmons Cemetery  in Hillsboro.

9/6/12 —Edsell Caldwell, Sr.

Edsell Caldwell, Sr. age 63 of Decherd, Tennessee passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012, at his home.

He was born November 10, 1948 in Sparta, Tennessee.

Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Caldwell.

Surviving are wife, Linda Sue Adams Caldwell; mother, Dovie Williams Hillis; sons, Lloyd Caldwell of Decherd, TN and Edsell Caldwell, Jr. of Louisiana; brothers, Freddie Lee Caldwell of Manchester, TN, Robert Lee Caldwell of Kentucky and Doug Caldwell of Ohio, sisters, Frances Caldwell of Kentucky, Dorothy Dean Caldwell of Manchester, TN, Mary Ann Caldwell of Manchester, TN and Jo Caldwell of Ohio.

A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.

Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave. NW, Winchester.

9/5/12 — Aubrey Lee Spry

Graveside services for Mr. Aubrey Lee  Spry, age 80, of Manchester, will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday,  September 5, 2012 at Ragsdale Cemetery. 

Mr. Spry passed away Sunday morning at his  residence.

Mr. Spry was born in Manchester, TN,  the son of the late Harvey and Nora Spry.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons,  Floyd and Kenny Spry; one daughter, Verna Humphrey; one brother, Allen Spry; and  one sister, Ruby Spry.

He is  survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Ann Spry of Manchester; one son, Aubrey Lee “JuneBug” Spry, Jr.; two daughters, Ruthie Spry and Tammy Lester, both of  Manchester; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great  grandchildren.

9/4/12 — Clarence Williams Sanders

Clarence Williams Sanders, age 83 of Winchester, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center Skilled Care.

Mr. Sanders is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence William & Rosa Bean Sanders; step-son, Paul Steele; son, Jerry Sanders; brothers, Jim Sanders and David Sanders.

He is survived by his companion/care taker, Corrine Stewart Sanders; children, Joe Sanders of Pikeville, Rose (Bob) Pickett of Fayetteville,  and Terry (Pam) Sanders of Decherd; grandchildren, Jerrill Sanders, David Sanders, Karen Delgado, Kimberly Sanders, Kayla Watts, and Lexie Sanders; great grandchildren, Nathan Watts, Hayden Delgado, Ethan Delgado, Brooklyn Sanders, and Jordan Sanders;  sister, Marie Herring of Kingsport, TN; step-brother, Harold Smith of South Pittsburg and step-sister, Edna Holt of Bridgeport, AL.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Monday, September 3, 2012.

Interment will follow at Owens Chapel Cemetery.

9/6/12 — James Almon Steele

James Almon Steele age 87 of Winchester, passed away August 31, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Steele was an active member of the Winchester Holiness Church. He enjoyed playing and spending quality time with his best friend Rocky who also passed away by his side.
Mr. Steele is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Miller Steele; wife, Beatrice Steele; brothers, Jethro Steele and Melvin Steele.
He is survived by his son, John H. (Glenda) Steele of North Carolina; daughters, Margaret (John) Anaszewski of Indiana, and Dorothy (Phil) Scholtz of Illinois; grandchildren, Holly Steele, John Steele, Jennifer Steele, Tammy Anaszewski, Eddie Anasewski and Danny Winebrenner; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Mandelyn, Jackson, Peyton, Jacob, Lauren; brothers, Tom (Barbara) Steele, William (Linda) Steele , Herman (Pauline) Steele all of Winchester.
Funeral service for Mr. Steele will be conducted Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 1pm from the Winchester Holiness Church with Bro. Junior Stephens and Pastor David Maples.
Interment will follow in the Winchester Holiness Church Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife.

9/4/12 — Etta Ruth Brooks Cooley

Mrs. Etta Ruth Brooks Cooley 80, of Tullahoma passed August 30, 2012 at her residence.

She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, evangelist, mentor, and a spiritual mother fell asleep on Thursday, August 30, 2012.
The third of thirteen children, she was born on November 24, 1931 to Lillie Martin Brooks and John Leslie Brooks in Tullahoma, Tennessee.  She grew into a beautiful young woman and was united in holy matrimony to William C. Cooley, Jr.

She is survived by husband, William C. Cooley, Jr.
Five children,  Charles Michael Cooley,  James Edward (Lee) Cooley, Paul Allen (Marilyn) Cooley, Pamela Diane Cooley Smith and Vincent Jay (Deborah) Cooley.
Four Brothers– Lillard Russell (Virginia) Brooks, Don Lee Brooks, Elder Billy Joe (Barbara) Brooks and Enoch Melvin “Butch” (Vera)Brooks.
Twelve grandchildren and Twenty- six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She loved her family dearly and provided guidance and wisdom typical of women in biblical days.  She accepted Christ in His fullness as a young mother and dedicated the remainder of her life to stewardship, evangelism, mentoring and service to the Lord’s people.

Her life was enriched by nine brothers and three sisters:  Ruthie Bell Brooks Bynote (deceased), Louie O’ Neal Brooks (deceased), Hazel Dement Brooks (deceased), Gladys Brooks Stamps (deceased), Edwin Howard Brooks (deceased), John Edwin (Nelson )Brooks (deceased), Bobby Ward Brooks (deceased),  Bettie Lou Brooks (deceased)

Visitation- Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church with Funeral Services  to follow at 1:00p.m with Bishop Gaillard officiating and Bishop Vincent Cooley as Eulogist.
