9/29/12 — Edward J. Kosowski

Edward  J. Kosowski, age 88 of Fayetteville and husband of Sarah Russell, passed away at his home September 25, 2012.

A native of Chicago, IL, he was a veteran of WW II and fought in the battle of Hurricane Forest.  Following his military service he worked in the Chicago area as a physical therapist, sheet metal fabricator and in various sales positions.  Upon his retirement in 1992 he moved to Cookeville, TN and in 2006 he moved to Lincoln County with his wife.  He attended Victory Pentecostal Church, was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.  He will be remembered by those who knew him as a very intelligent man and as a walking encyclopedia with the correct answer to any question.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Russell of Fayetteville; daughter, Karen Kosowski of Chicago; sons, Edward J. Kosowski of Denver, CO and Steven Kosowski of California; step-daughter, Kellei Wright of Fayetteville; step-grandchildrren, Chrystal Nicole Britton, Joshua Thomas Britton, Caleb Daniel Britton and Liam Morgan Rydberg.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday September 29, 2012 at the Victory Pentecostal Church with Ron Wood and Charles Mayo officiating.

9/28/12 — Mildred Murray Moore

Mrs. Mildred Murray Moore, age 95 of Tullahoma, passed away Tuesday September 25, 2012 at the Lynchburg Nursing Center.

A native of Jasper, Arkansas she was a daughter of James Benjamin Murray and Ollie Seals Murray.

She and her husband were former owners of the Moore County News. Mrs. Moore was a member of Lincolya Hills Baptist Church in Donaldson, Tn.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 28, 2012 beginning at 1 P.M. with funeral to follow at 2 P.M. at the Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Lynchburg Cemetery.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Linda Purnell of Tullahoma and daughter and son-law Susan and Frank Inman of Lynchburg. Grandchildren; Kim (David) Morris, Bryan (Shelley) Purnell and Jennifer (Brock) Blankenship. Great-grandchildren; Stephen and Jonathan Morris, Molly Purnell and Alex and Noah Blankenship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Moore, parents; James and Ollie Seals Moore; brohers, Joe, Jack, Jimmy and Bobby Murray. Sisters; Edith Sullivan and Dorothy Logan.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lynchburg Cemetery.

9/29/12 — Juanita Joyce Blanton

Funeral services for Juanita Joyce Blanton, age 69 of the Blanton  Chapel Community of Coffee County, will be conducted at 11am, Saturday,  September 29 at the Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Alan Adams and Bro.  Carl Sims officiating. 

Burial will  follow in the New Reddens Cemetery. 

Visitation with the Blanton family will be from 5pm until 9pm, Friday at  Manchester Funeral Home. 

Mrs.  Blanton passed away Thursday morning at her home surrounded by her loving  family.

Mrs. Blanton was born in Coffee County, Tennessee the daughter of the  late Roy G. Blanton and Johnnie Naomi Banks Blanton.  She was retired from Tennessee Apparel  Company and was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Manchester. 

Her survivors  are:

One Sister- Fay (James) Bishop of  Manchester

Niece- Angela Mullins of Manchester

Nephew- Dwayne (Kim) Mullins of  Manchester

Great nieces and nephews- Courtney Mullins, Bobby Mullins, Tina  Farrar, Mandy Haley, Brian Farrar and David Farrar, all of  Manchester.

9/28/12 — Tiffany Ann Lendley

TIFFANY ANN LENDLEY, age 26, of Tullahoma, Tenn., departed this life on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, unexpectedly at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Tiffany was born in Tullahoma.  She was a homemaker.  Most of all she was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece and cousin.

She is survived by her mother, Sheila Sweeton, father, Eddie (Dawn) Lendley, son, Nicholas McMahan, daughter, Alaya “J.J.” Lendley, brother, Justin Lendley, sisters; Dusty Lendley all of Tullahoma, Laila Lendley of Manchester, Tenn.  and Maternal grandmother, Shirley Floyd of Manchester.

Services for Tiffany are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with visitation from 1:00-2:00 Friday prior to service time.  Pastor Robert King officiating.

Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma.

9/29/12 — Wanda L. Hill Trail

Wanda L. Hill Trail, age 60, of  Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Medical  Center of Manchester.
She was a Registered Nurse and most recently served with  the Medical Center of Manchester.
She was born in Manchester, TN to her parents,  the late John  C.  Hill and Elizabeth  Garner  Hill.
She was  also preceded in death by her sister, Melissa Bennett.
Wanda will be fondly  remembered as a hard worker, loving mother and devoted daughter who devoted her  later years to taking care of her parents.
She is survived by her sons, Greg  Trail and his wife Terra of Manchester, TN and Steven Trail of Manchester, TN;  two grandchildren, Libby Trail and Tyler Trail; and a host of friends.
A  Memorial Graveside Service will be conducted on Saturday, September 29, 2012  at   11:00 a.m.   at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

10/6/12 — Betty Camp King

Betty Camp King of Monteagle, wife of Glenn King for 61 of her 82 years. Her life started in Gwinnett County Georgia and upbringing was in Stone Mountain where she was a star on the high school basketball team and had the lead in their school theatrical production. Her adult life started as owner and operator of Betty’s Beauty Salon. After her marriage they relocated to several cities in the Mid-West and eventually to AEDC in Tullahoma. Betty was an avid member of the Tennessee Ornithological Society and Girl Scouts of America. She especially enjoyed serving as Nature Consultant for the Middle Tennessee Girl Scout Council leading nature hikes and giving slide presentations about birds and wildlife to schools and civic organizations. She also served as an unpaid advisor to state park rangers and naturalists. Daughters Kim and Glenda were raised in Tullahoma, and a move to Monteagle for Betty and Glenn followed after their daughters left home for college and eventual marriages. Betty was very active in several organizations, and an ardent booster of this mountain. She served on the Grundy County Election Commission and Foster Care Review Board, represented Grundy County in Mental Health matters in the Joe Johnson Mental Health Organization, and served 20 years as a member of the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute Board of Trustees. She was a dedicated member of the Republican Party and worked at county, state and Federal levels including time with Senator Bill Brock and Congressman Zack Wamp. She was elected and served three terms to represent this area’s State Senatorial District as a member of the state GOP Executive Committee. Several years were spent as a Docent with the National Medal of Honor Museum of Military History in Chattanooga and managing the museum gift shop. A favorite activity was helping Glenn support his WW 2 Army Air Force Association Reunions. They procured a plaque to install in the Air Force Museum Memorial Garden in Dayton, Ohio and co-hosted a dedication ceremony. Many became acquainted with Betty when she was Public Relations Representative for Cliff Tops Real Estate Development, secretary of the Monteagle Mountain Development Group and manager of the Smokehouse and Pottery and Crafts Gift Shops. For Betty though her most pleasurable and favorite activity was playing grandma to grandchildren, Lillian and little Glenn. Her last years were spent in an unsuccessful battle against a rare horrible disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) which is similar to Parkinson’s but untreatable.

Survivors include her husband, Percy Glenn King; daughters, Kim King (Allen) Stout, Franklin, TN and Glenda King (Charlie) Beals of Mt. Juliet, TN; sister-in-law, Carla Camp of Atlanta; grandchildren, Glenn and Lillian; nephew, Blaine; nieces, Kelly and Sherry.

A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 6, 2012, in the chapel of Cumberland Funeral Home with Bishop William Millsaps officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.

9/27/12 — Bittie Sells Morris

Bettie Sells Morris, age 93 of Winchester, Tennessee passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012, at Willows at Winchester.

She was born May 7, 1919 in Sherwood; the daughter of the late John and Mollie (Summers) Sells.

She was employed by the Franklin County Nursing Home and worked as a certified nursing assistant.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Morris, Sr.; son, James Phillip Morris, daughter, Ruth Stewart, three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are son, Elmer (Connie) Morris, Jr. of Manchester, TN, daughters, Molly (Corky) Garner of Winchester, TN and Lynn (Danny) Wiseman of Winchester, TN; grandchildren, Chris (Tina) Garner, Lori Beth Wiseman, Danny Wiseman, Jr., David Stewart, Bryan Stewart, John (Tonya) Morris, Jason Morris, and Jeff Morris; and great-grandchildren, Courtney Garner, Kayla Garner, Jane Anne Morris, and Jack Morris.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Dan Jones officiating.

Mrs. Morris’ grandsons will serve a pall bearers.

Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave. NW, Winchester.

9/28/12 — Michael Dudley Doty

Michael Dudley Doty, age 63 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012, at his home.

He was born October 31, 1948 in Huron, South Dakota; the son of the late Charles Robert and Anita Jo (Jackson) Doty.

He was an officer for the Winchester Police Department and served his country in the US Army.

Surviving is wife, Rebecca Darlene Doty; sons, Doug Doty of Tullahoma, TN, Scott Doty of Tullahoma, TN and Steven Doty of Nashville, TN, daughter, Marianne Ray of Tullahoma, TN, sisters, Charon Rae Doty Harrell of Tullahoma, TN and Renita Jo Doty of Tullahoma, TN, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Rudy Wilkinson officiating.

The Winchester Police Department will serve as pall bearers. Interment will be in Summitville Cemetery, Manchester, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave. NW, Winchester.

Betty Saussy age 67, passed away on September 21, 2012 at her residence in Sewanee.

9/29/12 — Tyrin Rippy

Tyrin Rippy 15, of Tullahoma passed Sunday, September 23, 2012.

He was the son of Dameon Rippy and late Jodi Middlebrook. He attended school in Manchester most of his life. He currently was a sophomore at Tullahoma High School.

He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Jodi Middlebrook , grandmother, Glenda West, great-grandparents, Chester and Mickie Williams and great grandmother, Clara West.

He is survived by his father, Dameon Rippy(Jessica Jordan) both of Tullahoma, TN; siblings, Gwen Brewer, Gulf Breeze, Florida; Mycionna Middlebrook, Haley McKinney of Hillsboro, TN; Aaliyah and Kristopher Rippy , Jadyn and Makayla Jordan all of Tullahoma, TN; grandmother, Jacqualine Rippy of Tullahoma, TN; grandfather, Coley (Ginger) Rippy of Shelbyville, TN; grandfather, David West.

Host of devoted aunts, great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The body will lie in state Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00am. at MT. Zion Baptist Church with Visitation to follow with family at 12:00 Noon .
