10/19/12 — Dorothy Jane “Dot” Lowhorn

Dorothy Jane “Dot” Lowhorn, 82, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, October 16th, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a short illness.

 Mrs. Lowhorn was born in Estill Springs, TN to the late Lloyd and Dimple Carroll Ingleburger.

During her life she worked as a homemaker and was an active member of Wesley Heights United Methodist Church and The Tullahoma Senior Citizens Center.

 In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowhorn is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Lowhorn; one son, Dennis Sherman Lowhorn; one sister, Henrietta Arnold; one brother, Lloyd Carroll Ingleburger; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Stone.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Lowhorn and his wife Robin of Knoxville, Anthony Lowhorn and his wife Ivy of Estill Springs, and Jeff Lowhorn of Tullahoma; three sisters Betty Davis-Pratt and her husband Don of Tullahoma, Barbara Stone of Tullahoma and Mary Turner and her husband Malcom of Tullahoma; three grandchildren, Jennifer Judy and her husband Wally, Ryan Lowhorn and his wife Ace and Aaron Lowhorn and his wife Ana; three great-grandchildren, Cole Hunter Judy, Ty Alan Judy and Alexis Rayn Lowhorn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs.  Lowhorn will be held on Thursday, October 18th, 2012 from 4:00-8:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 19th, 2012 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Fields and Bro. Billy Ray Painter officiating.

 Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. ?>

10/19/12 — Benjamin Franklin Ellis, Jr.

Benjamin Franklin Ellis, Jr. of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, October 15th, 2012 at Morning Pointe at the age of 86.

Mr. Ellis was born in New Milford, Pennsylvania to the late Benjamin F. Ellis Sr. and Clara Hall Ellis .

During his life, he lived in Schenectady, New York where he formerly worked for General Electric as a Guard and was a 40 year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1174.  Mr. Ellis also served in the United States Army, Navy and Air Force and retired from the United States Army Reserves in 1984. Ben moved to Tullahoma in 1993 and was a member of Wesley Heights United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Bakeman Ellis and three brothers .

Mr. Ellis is survived by two daughters, Linda Cournoyer and husband Paul of Birmingham, AL and Lora Ross and husband Kenneth of Schenectady, New York; one sister, Harriet Nichols of New York; five grandchildren, Christina, Paul, Adelle, Julie and Ken; and four great-grandchildren, David, Dayton, Anthony and Elaina.

Visitation for Mr. Ellis will be Friday, October 19th, 2012 at 6:00pm in Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service immediately following at 7:00pm with Bro. Jim Fields officiating.

10/19/12 — George Donald (Don) Young

Mr. George Donald (Don) Young, age 86, of Tullahoma, passed away October 15, 2012 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester.

A native of Winchester, he was the son of the late Leonard and Miriam Weaver Young.

He was a retired automobile mechanic. He retired from Stan McNabb, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Olds in 2004. He was a brave US Navy Veteran and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where he served as Trustee, money counter, and choir member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Roy Young, and one sister; Dorothy McGriffe, his in-laws, Stanley and Sue Cowan, two sister-in-laws; Rachel Young and Anna Mae Rothwell, four brother-in-laws, John Cowan Charles Marshall, Allen Rothwell, and Howard McGriffe.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Juanita Cowan Young, one son; Stanley (Delores) Young, two daughters; Donnita (Steve) Propst of Tullahoma, and Denise (Rev. Tracy) Tucker of Standardsville, VA., seven grandchildren; Stephen (Sarah) King, Stephanie (Jared) Turner, George (Davida) Propst, Adam (Ashley) Young, Stephanie (Allen) Williams, Allison and Andrea Tucker, two step-grandchildren, Jeff (Tes) Wilkinson and Stacey (Anthony) Allison, ten great- grandchildren; Brittany, Tyler, Jacob, Landon, Hayden, Hayley, Jesse, Lily, Christian, and Amarah, and four step great-grandchildren; Tyler, Dillon, Cheslyn, and Jaylen; one step great great-granddaughter; Aleah, three sister-in-laws; Amy Young, Euline Marshall, and Carlotta Pickney.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5:00PM till 8:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00AM at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Elbert Smith and Rev Tracy Tucker officiating. Eddie Guinn will be in charge of the music.

Pallbearers will be Junior Guinn, Buford Wilson, Jim Kinsey, Larry Stone, Jim White, and Randy Nichols.

Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens., Cowan Highway.

10/18/12 — James Hervey

Mr. James Hervey, age 71, of Tullahoma, passed away Monday night at Harton Regional Medical Center.

A native of Trumann, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Jess William and Martha Holcomb Hervey.

He was a brave military Veteran and was retired from RockTenn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son; Terry Nix.

He is survived by his loving wife; Helen, one son; Gerald (Judy) Nix, two grandchildren; Jackie (Jason) Byrom of Lynchburg, and Bryan (Lynette) Nix of Tullahoma, four great-grandchildren; Jacob and Jarrett Byrom and Shelby and Halle Nix, and one daughter-in-law; Janice Nix.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, from 1:00PM until 2:00PM in the chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Bro. Horace Lee Jacobs officiating.

10/17/12 — Martha Sue Baker

Martha Sue Baker, age 77 of Lynchburg passed away on Monday October 15, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

A native of Moore County she was the daughter of the late Grady and Evalee Woosley Reese. She was a homemaker and a member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Lynchburg Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2012 at 2 P.M. at the Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Myers officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter; Kathy (Ronny) Champion of Normandy. Sons; Danny (Debbie) Baker of Lynchburg, Jimmy (Paula) Baker of Turkey Creek, Dale Baker and Joey Baker both of Lynchburg. Sisters; Betty (Richard) Baker of Lynchburg, Mildred (Browder) Gossett of Decherd, Alice (Sam) Johnson of Lynchburg. Brothers; Tony (Nettie) Reese of Decherd, Reagor (Linda) Reese of Lynchburg, Wayne (Evelyn) Reese of Tullahoma and Harlan Reese of Tullahoma. 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Baker, parents, Grady and Evalee Reese, sister, Kathy Gossett, brothers; Joe Reese, Charles Reese and David Reese.

10/18/12 — Wesley Cordell Johnson

Wesley Cordell Johnson left the green fields and mountains of Coffee County on Oct. 14, 2012 to be with his lord.

He was born on August 15, 1937 in the Stephenson Community to the late Claude M. Johnson and Mollie Stubblefield Johnson.

 A 1955 graduate of Manchester Central High School, he later spent 4 years in the US Navy with several tours of duty on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock. He retired from the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1986 after 25 years of service as an equipment operator in the shipping department. After retirement Wesley moved back to the Hillsboro Community and became a gentleman farmer on the Johnson family farms.

Wesley, sometimes affectionately called Hoss, was known throughout the County for his gentle kidding, his quick smile, his frank but honest comments, and His “never met a stranger” attitude.

For years he struggled with congestive heart failure and diabetes. He recently was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Wesley indeed fought the good fight before succumbing to his health issues.

Wesley was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church.

Wesley is survived by two brothers, Bryce (Linda Gail) Johnson of Cedar Creek, Texas and Arlis (Sarah) Johnson of Tullahoma TN.; three nephews, Larry Johnson of Deer Park, Texas, Dave Johnson of Tullahoma TN, and Steve Johnson of Lexington KY.; two nieces, Kathy Nouis of Las Vegas Nevada, and Sharon Nelius of Tullahoma TN.; and six grand nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hillsboro Methodist Church or the Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, October 17, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday morning, October 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Jared officiating.

Burial will follow at the Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery.

10/17/12 — Clyde “Stub” Stubblefield, Jr.

Mr. Clyde “Stub” Stubblefield, Jr., age 62, of Tullahoma, passed away Monday morning at his residence.

A native of Winchester, he was the son of the late Clyde, Sr. and Mamie Summers Stubblefield. He was an electrician and plumber.

He is survived by his wife; Debbie Stubblefield, one daughter; Kena Stubblefield Sanson of Tullahoma, three grandchildren; Kinsley, Kaiden, and Kambrea, nine siblings; Jean (Leon) Parker, Helen (Donald) Penny, Ruby (Earl) Berryhill, James Stubblefield, Pat (Millard) Bratton, Tommy Stubblefield, Ronnie Stubblefield, Kathy (Randy) Cofer, and Mike (Rhonda) Stubblefield, all of Winchester and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, from 12-4PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be conducted at 4PM in the chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home with Gary Wilcox officiating.

10/16/12 — Brenda Joyce Raby Hunt

Brenda Joyce Raby Hunt, age 55 of Lynchburg passed away October 14, 2012 at her residence.

A native of Bedford County she was a daughter of Felton Raby of Lynchburg and the late Sara Moore Raby. She was a factory worker and a member of New Herman Church of Christ.

The family will receive from 5-8 P.M. on Monday October 15, 2012.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 16, 2012 at 10 A.M. with Bro, Danny Hale officiating.

Burial will follow in the Jolley Cemetery.

Mrs. Hunt is survived by her husband, Brian Hunt, daughter; Kelly (Tracy) Hart ,son; Wesley Hunt and his fiance’ Becky Thomas all of Lynchburg. Sister, Carolyn Rowland of Flat Creek, brother; Wayne Raby of Moore County,father; Felton Raby of Lynchburg and granddaughter, Harley Hart of Lynchburg and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sara Moore Raby and brother, David Raby.

10/15/12 — Blanche “Tabby” Owen

Blanche “Tabby” Owen , age 59 of  Hillsboro, Tennessee, passed away on October 12, 2012.
She was a Machinist with  A.T.A. at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC); a member of the  Hillsboro Church of Christ and the Manchester O.E.S.
She was preceded in death  by her son, Shawn Martin Holdaway. Mrs. Owen or “Tabby” as she was  affectionately  known, was born in Madison, West Virgina to her parents,  Walter “Jim” Rabenstein and Dorothy Marie Doss Rabenstein of Hillsboro who  survive.
She is also survived by her loving husband, Roger  D. Owen of  Hillsboro; children, Cindy L. Rabenstein of Hillsboro,  Jacki R. Whipple of  Charlotte, NC,   Joshua T. Owen of Nashville, TN,  and David W.  Holdaway of Manchester;  two sisters, Rebecca Stokes of Charlestown,  WV  and Glenna Bond of Manchester; three grandchildren, Wesley Rabenstein  of Hillsboro,  Brady Whipple and Ava Whipple both of Charlotte, NC; and a  host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday evening,  October 15, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.  until  7:00 p.m. with a Memorial  Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home.

10/17/12 — Richard Leon Russell

RICHARD LEON RUSSELL, Sr., age 58, of Tullahoma, Tenn., departed this life on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at his residence, losing his battle with cancer.

Mr. Russell enjoyed repairing automobiles and riding motorcycles.  He was the owner of Richard’s Automotive in Tullahoma.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Brazier.

Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Patsy Russell of Tullahoma, daughters; Michelle (Damon) Dye of Shelbyville, Amanda Mines and Shelley Russell of Louisiana, Misty Nunley of Tullahoma, Rebecca Russell of Louisiana, Amy (Derek) Tipps of Tullahoma, Tania Russell of Louisiana, sons; Richard Leon (Marissa) Russell, Jr. of Normandy, Dillon (Danielle) Dotson of Tullahoma, brothers; Jim Russell, Joe Russell, Hugh Russell all of Estill Springs, Tenn., Patrick Russell of Tullahoma, several grandchildren and 3-great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2012, with Rev. Joe Butler, officiating.

Interment will follow in Pennington Cemetery in Estill Springs, Tenn.
