12/13/12 — Mary Elizabeth Shelton

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Shelton, age 85, of Pelham, TN, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Miriam Seyler, Rev. Gary Bell, and Rev. De Hennessy officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shelton passed away Monday afternoon at Erlanger Health Systems in Chattanooga, TN.

Mrs. Shelton was born in Sewanee, TN, the daughter of the late Jim L. and Macie Hill Francis. She retired in 1988 from Coffee County Board of Education as a teacher at Hillsboro Elementary School. Prior to retirement, she taught at Manchester City School on College Street, Grundy County High School, and Highland Rim Girl’s School. She was also a home demonstration agent for the UT Extension Office. She loved both Pelham United Methodist Church and Morton Memorial United Methodist Church and was very active in each UMW. She loved to “go” and try new stuff, and was an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shelton was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Wayne Shelton, who passed away in 2004; and one brother, John Francis.

She is survived by her sons, Larry (Reeda Kaye) Shelton and Charles Mark Shelton, both of Pelham; one sister, Virginia Ann Thompson of Elton, KY; and two grandchildren, Dustin (Holly) Shelton and Dera Shelton.

12/15/12 — Eulalia Maria Harris

Memorial services for Mrs. Eulalia Maria Harris, age 66, of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Manchester.

Mrs. Harris passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Mrs. Harris was born in San Jose, CA,  the daughter of the late Juan Rodriguez and Mary Jaurique Rodriguez, who  survives. 

She was a property manager for ATA and  was of the Catholic faith.  She was  loved by all, and in return, loved everyone.

In addition to her mother, she is also  survived by her husband, Willie Harris, of Manchester; one son, Willie Harris,  III, of Manchester; two daughters, Ruby (David) Lara and Rose Marie (David)  Turner, both of Jacksonville, FL; eight brothers; four sisters; eight  grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

12/15/12 — Jesse Paul Shelton

Funeral services for Mr. Jesse Paul  Shelton, age 96, of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Manchester, will be conducted  at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel  with Bro. Ronald Longmire and Bro. Gary Bell officiating. 

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial  Gardens with military honors. 

Visitation with the Shelton family will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on  Friday, December 14 at the funeral home. 

Mr. Shelton passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Premier Nursing  and Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, NC.

 

Mr. Shelton was born in Rutherford  County, TN, the son of the late Waistal Watson and Annie Dera Oren Shelton.  He was a veteran of WWII, having  honorably served in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the Manchester Cumberland Presbyterian  Church.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelton  was also preceded in death by his wife, Freddie Mae Wilhelm Shelton; four  sisters, Katie Pearl Welch, Maggie Ruth Shelton, Lucille Novello, and Rena  Shores; two brothers, his twin, Tommy Hall Shelton and Wayne  Shelton.

 

Mr. Shelton is survived by his  daughter, Paula (Otto) Daly of Jacksonville, NC; one son, Fred Shelton of  Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Otto (Casey) Daly, IV of Boise, ID, Dr.  William (Lani) Daly of Jacksonville, NC, Elizabeth (Christopher) Severt of  Wilmington, NC, and Dr. Karen (David) Seymore of Morehead City, NC; five great  grandchildren, Zoe Marie Daly, Oliver Michael Daly, Keani Anderson, Jordan  LaFountain, and Davin Joe Seymore; and three brothers, William “Billy” Shelton,  Kendall Shelton, and James O. Shelton.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the  Wounded Warriors Fund or to your local DAV in Mr. Shelton’s  name.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeannette Winton Patton, age 64 of Manchester will be conducted Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ricky Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Lynch Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 12  from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patton passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

Mrs. Patton was born August 28, 1948 in Manchester, Tennessee the daughter of the late James Gilbert and Dollie Estelle Swanger Winton.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, cooking and playing with her cats and dogs.  She helped with the family logging and farming operations and “was her husband and son’s favorite skidder driver”.  She was a member of Wesley’s Chapel Methodist Church.

Mrs. Patton is survived by her loving husband, Howard Douglas Patton of Manchester; one son, Mark David Patton and his wife, Sheila of of Manchester; one daughter, Connie Sue Finney and her husband, Dewayne of Manchester; one brother, Carl Wayne Winton of Murfreesboro and many other loving friends and family.

12/13/21 —- Agnes Bloodworth Royster

Agnes Bloodworth Royster, age 79 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on December 10, 2012 at the McArthur Manor in Manchester.
 
She was a retired Teacher’s Aide at Westwood Elementary School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manchester.
 
She was born in Cedar Hill, TN to her parents, the late Sam Bloodworth and Ruth Davis Bloodworth and was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Royster in 2009; and brothers, Hubert Holman, John Bloodworth and Robert Bloodworth.
 
Mrs. Royster is survived by her son, Billy E. “Ron” Royster and his wife Anita of Manchester, TN; daughter, Jane Royster of Manchester, TN; two grandchildren, Karla Royster and Sam Royster both of Manchester, TN; and a host of friends.
 
Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, December 12, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
 
The Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday morning, December 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home.
 
Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services for Mrs. Louise H.  Willis, age 84, of Hillsboro, will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, December  11, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jon Bell and Rev. Bob Jared  officiating. 

Burial will follow at  Hillsboro Methodist Cemetery. 

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday  at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Willis  passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at her residence, surrounded by her  family.

Mrs. Willis was born in Viola, TN, the  daughter of the late Paul F. and Octa Roach Haston. 

She was a homemaker and a very active  member in the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church for many years.  She served as Thompson Hall’s 4-H Volunteer leader and  a Coffee County 4-H sponsor for nearly 60 years.  She and her family were named as 1991  Tennessee Master 4-H Family of the Year.  Mrs. Willis was a member of the Thompson Hall Home Demonstration Club and  served on the Coffee County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee.  She and her husband served as advisors  for Coffee County Young Farmers and Homemakers organization.  During her lifetime, she logged in many  hours as a volunteer for the Hillsboro Elementary School  PTA.

Mrs. Willis is survived by her loving  husband of 64 years, Fred C. Willis of Hillsboro; four daughters, Jeanne (Jon)  Bell, Bobbie (Bill) Myers, Charlotte (Joe) Keele, and Angie Banks; two sons,  Charles (Terri) Willis and Brent (Linda) Willis, all of Hillsboro; one brother,  Lowell (Patty) Haston of Viola; sixteen grandchildren, Diana (Matt) Clarady, Jon  (Jennifer) Bell, Jr., Emily (Kevin) Ragland, Bryan (Jane) Myers, Beth (Brian)  O’Reilly, Beverly (Jeff) Keele, Belinda (Chad) Black, Quent (Amanda) Willis,  Whitney (Mandy) Willis, Lance Willis, Wesley (Margaret) Keele, Maggie (Michael)  Millraney, Amy Willis, Ethan Willis, Zachary Banks, and Remington Banks; and 15  great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Zyphia Ann  Douglas, age 59, of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday,  December 12, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Anderson and  Bro. Ross Banks officiating. 

Burial  will follow in Lynch Cemetery in Coffee County, TN. 

Visitation with the family will be from  5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Douglas passed away Saturday  afternoon at Centennial Medical Center in  Nashville.

Mrs. Douglas was born in Bedford  County, TN, the daughter of the late Eddie and Sara Estell Ledbetter  McCart.  She was a cook for the  Coffee County Schools System at the high school and attended Hurricane Grove  Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs.  Douglas was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Comwell McCart, Jr.  and Ray McCart. 

She is survived by  her loving husband of 41 years, Ronnie Douglas of Manchester; one son, Ronnie D.  Douglas, Jr. of Manchester; two daughters, Christy L. (Chuck) Alford and Donna  A. (John Jones) Douglas, both of Manchester; three brothers, Edward McCart,  Thomas McCart, and Robert McCart, all of Manchester; one sister, Margaret Jones  of Manchester; and eight grandchildren, Zyphia Lynn Douglas, Chuck D. Alford,  Jr., Austin C. Alford, Isaiah Jones, Elijah Jones, Michael Jones, Hannah Jones,  and Josh Jones.

12/12/12 — Clifford Oscar Taylor, Jr.

Mr. Clifford Oscar Taylor, Jr , age 62, of Tullahoma, passed away Saturday night at his residence.

He was a native of Alto, TN , and the son of Rosie Lee Mearse Taylor and the late Clifford Oscar Taylor, Sr. He was employed by Tennessee Tanning in Tullahoma. Mr. Taylor enjoyed fishing and gardening. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by brothers James, Leonard, Howard, and Horace Taylor, and also a grandson Jeremy Wade Steele.

He is survived by his wife Lora Taylor of Tullahoma, three daughters Tiffany Steele of Elora, Rebecca Gail Pierce of Dickson, Jennifer Taylor of Memphis, two sons Clifford Howard Taylor of Tullahoma and Roger Taylor of Pennsylvania, four brothers Jerry, Johnny, Carl, and Danny Joe, all of Tullahoma, and sisters Annie Lou Painter and Margaret Ann Corbin, both of Tullahoma, Linda Kay Elliot of Estill Springs, Debbie Smith of Fayetteville, twenty grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 5:00PM until 9:00PM at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Wednesday at11:00AM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Daniel Boyd officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manchester.

12/11/12 — Kenneth Lewis Thomas

Kenneth Lewis Thomas, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 68.

Mr. Thomas was born in Tullahoma to the late George and Esther Thomas Jr. During his life, he worked as a truck driver for Coca-Cola. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Thomas; two sisters, Dorothy Jean Thomas and Betty Sue Vann; and two brothers, Henry Clay Thomas and Billy Joe Thomas.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth Dewayne Thomas and his wife Yvette of Tullahoma; one daughter, Cindy Louise Powell and her husband George “Jody” of Tullahoma; two brothers, Donny Thomas and his wife Wilma of Manchester and Bobby Thomas of Tullahoma; one sister, Mary Nell Whited of Hendersonville; one sister-in-law, Josephine Thomas of Tullahoma; three grandchildren, Dewayne Kincaid Thomas and his wife Megan, Robert David Brown and Kimberly Whooten; one great grandchild, Kaycee Yvette Thomas; and one special family friend, Liz Smith.

Visitation for Mr. Thomas will be held on Tuesday, December 11th, 2012 from 4:00-7:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home with a memorial service to immediately follow at 7:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Hart officiating.

12/11/12 — TIMOTHY RAY CRAIG

TIMOTHY RAY CRAIG, age 53, of Decherd, departed this life suddenly on Saturday,December 08, 2012, at Southern TN Medical Center in Winchester, Tenn.

Mr. Craig was born in Manchester, Tenn.  He was disabled.  Before becoming disabled Mr. Craig worked in maintenance at 100 Oaks Castle.  He was also a “shade tree mechanic”.  Mr. Craig’s favorite hobby was collecting all types of guitars.  He last attended the Decherd Church of God.

Mr. Craig was preceded in death by his twin sister, Tammy Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Craig, daughters; Jessica Craig and Breanna Craig all of Decherd,  sisters; Clemmie (Junior) Conn of Winchester, Gail (Terry) Gipson of Decherd, Ram (Randy) Womack of Oak Grove Community, Lucy (Danny) Bennett of Winchester, brothers; Ronald (Peggy) Sanson of Decherd, Gary Sanson of Estill Springs and Stanley Sanson of Decherd. 3-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Craig will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Monday evening, December 10, at the Decherd Church of God.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Church with Bro. Johnny Carr officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd.
