5/17/14 —- Christopher Douglas Parker

Graveside services for Mr. Christopher Douglas Parker, age 79, of Snellville, GA, will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Parker Family Cemetery in the Goosepond Community of Coffee County, TN.

Mr. Parker passed away at Embracing Hospice in Snellville, GA on May 11, 2014.


 veteran --- Flag 2Mr. Parker was born in Coffee County, TN, the son of the late Orman and InezLeek Parker. 

He graduated from Manchester Central High School, lettering in football, wrestling, and baseball.  He attended University of Chattanooga on a football scholarship.  He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.  After graduating from Middle TN State University, Mr. Parker taught high school math and social studies in Jacksonville, FL.  He also worked as a parole/probation officer in Starke, FL.  Mr. Parker rose to Assistant District Director for the GA Dept of Vocational Rehabilitation while attending law school.  After graduating from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, GA, he practiced law for the remainder of his life in Atlanta and Tucker, GA.  He obtained his real estate broker license and taught real estate preparation classes.  He was past president/chairman of Jaycees, as well as being involved with the March of Dimes and Heart Fund.  He was also a past trustee at the First Christian Church of Atlanta. 

Mr. Parker’s ready wit, unending wellspring of talents, and gentle nature will be sorely missed by all who came to know
him.

 
In addition to his parents, Mr. Parker was also preceded in death by four siblings, Orman, Jr., Bernice, Mildred, and Phyliss. 

He is survived by his son, Douglas Parker of California, and one brother, Austin Parker.

Flower 12Mr. Anthony Glen Totherow, age 57 of Morrison, Tennessee passed away, Friday, May 16. 2014 at the Medical Center of Manchester.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Stockton officiating.

Burial will follow at Summitville Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 12 Noon until service time at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

A native of Manchester, he was the son of the late Charles Totherow and Bessie Fults Totherow of Manchester.

He had worked for M C A Sign Company of Manchester for seven years. He had also worked at Adam’s Market. He was a reserve officer for the Coffee County Sheriffs Department for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, coloring, reading and teaching them new things.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Totherow..

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Bonnie Carr Totherow, one daughter, Christine Totherow; four grandchildren, Christopher Hunter Totherow, Tristen Xavier Totherow, Jasmine Americus Mikayla Totherow-Hackney, Chazmyn Isabella Nykayla Totherow-Hackney; six sisters, Frienda, Abby, Anita and Gloria Totherow, all of Manchester, Luverta Totherow of Chattanooga, and Faye Shrum of Monteagle; four brothers, Bearl, Chester, George and Ronnie Totherow, all of Manchester and special friend, Kathy Rankhorn.

5/17/14 —- Edward “Junior” Guinn

Mr. Edward “Junior” Guinn , age 78, of Tullahoma, TN., passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his residence in Tullahoma, TN.

Junior was born in Huntsville, Alabama and was the son of the late Jess and Ruby Farris Guinn.

He was a member of The First Church of The Nazarene in Tullahoma and was an employee of Tullahoma Funeral Home for the past 12 years. He was retired from Wilson Sporting Goods where he worked for 31 ½ years, and was also retired from Lincoln Street Shell where he was owner/ operator for 8 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Ricky Guinn, daughter Sarah Guinn Partin, grandson Jeremy Scott Partin, son-in-law Jerry “Buddy” Partin, and brother Willard Guinn.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Mrs. Billie Guinn of Tullahoma, TN., sons Danny Guinn of Buchanan, GA., Terry Guinn of Grand Rapids, WI., Eddie Guinn of Chattanooga, TN., daughter and son-in-law Penny and Michael Barnes of Tullahoma, TN., son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Carol Guinn of Tullahoma, TN., daughter and son-in-law Norma and Randy Anderson of Tullahoma, TN., son and daughter-in-law Nelson and Michele Guinn of Murfreesboro, TN., sisters Minnie Guinn Chisam, Faye Guinn (Will) Buckner, Linda Guinn Hopkins, Mary Ann Guinn (Bill) Hopkins, brothers Charles (Mary Jo) Guinn, Joe (Brenda) Guinn, Hershel (Dean) Guinn, all of Tullahoma and Winchester, sister-in-law Brenda Lewis Wimberley (Shelley and Staci) of Manchester, brother-in-law Jerry Lewis of Shelbyville and sister-in-law Diane Lewis Roberts (Rick) of Lewisburg, grandchildren Nicole Barnes Scott and Taylor Scott, Erin Barnes Barefoot and Justin Barefoot, Andrew Guinn, Jessica Anderson, Allen Guinn, Dalton Guinn, Adam Guinn, Tucker Anderson and Mackenzie Guinn, many nieces and nephews, and life-long family friends Mrs. Winnell Pittenger and Brenda Lackey.

5/18/14 —- Albert Epsy Stone

Mr. Albert Epsy Stone, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Delene, in 2007. He was the son of the late Herbert and Raba Snell Stone of Moore County.

He is survived by a daughter, Cyndy Stone Allen, granddaughter, Layne Michelle Allen of Murfreesboro, and a son, Robin Stone. He is also survived by two sisters, Alberta (Claude) Parks of Warren Michigan, Lynda Phillips of Shelbyville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert graduated with a B.S. degree from UTK in 1958 and earned his Master’s degree from MTSU in 1971. In his early career, he taught vocational agriculture at Giles County, Franklin County, and Columbia Central High Schools. He later broadened his career by working as manager of the Maury County PCA, Counselor at the Pulaski Vo-Tech School, and a Job Development Officer at Columbia State Community College. After Columbia State, he was employed by ARO at AEDC in Tullahoma, TN., as a Training Coordinator. He held numerous positions while at AEDC for 18 years. After an early retirement from AEDC, he was employed at the Tennessee Technology Center in Shelbyville as a youth facilitator which involved working and counseling with at risk students.

His devotion for helping people was beneficial to three Kiwanis Clubs in Columbia, and in Tullahoma. He was an active member for a total of 45 years. He also served as a Lt. Governor in the Kiwanis Organization.

Albert accepted Christ when he was 13 years old and served in various capacities in the Methodist Church throughout his life.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.

The service will begin at 4:00 PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edd Templeton and Rev. Paul Purdue officiating.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Donations be made to First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma, TN.

5/18/14 —- JOHN HENRY PRICE

JOHN HENRY PRICE, age 77, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Mr. Price was born on March 4, 1937, in Polk County, Tenn. to the late Arrie and Annie Qualls Price.

Before retiring, Mr. Price was employed for many years as a manager in the clothing industry.  He was of the Baptist Faith and last attended the Elk River Baptist Church.

Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Deborah Price, sons; Jeremy Price and James Price and wife, Jamie all of Winchester, daughters; Debbie Cope and husband, Alan and Kay Jones all of Cleveland, Tenn.  grandchildren; Josh Jones, Jonathan Cope, Whitney Cope, Kayla Whaley, Ellie Rose Price and Jack Riley Price, and one great-grandchild, Cason Whaley. Brothers; Roscoe Price, Ronnie Price both of Benton, Tenn. and Clyde Price of Washington State.  Sisters; Arlene Bramlett of Cleveland, Tenn., and Teena Brannan of Benton, Tenn.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, May 18, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Leon Williams, officiating.

Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 until service time at 4:00 P.M. Sunday prior to the Service.

5/18/14 —— Aileen B. Lane

Aileen B. Lane, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro at the age of 88.

Mrs. Lane was born in Coffee County to the late John Harvey and Marjorie Conry Burnett.

During her life, she worked as a Bookkeeper for Southern Standard Newspaper. She also worked for WBMC Radio, ARO, and the Dept. of Welfare and was a member of Hillsboro Methodist Church.

Mrs. Lane is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rickey Peek, who passed away in 2008; and her sister, Nell Vanatta.

She is survived by two daughters, Dian Peek Rayfield and her husband Terry of Tullahoma, and Gayle Spencer and her husband Larry of Chattanooga; two sons, Charles B. Sartin of Murfreesboro, and Philip Sartin and his wife Phyllis of Bell Buckle; twelve grandchildren, Katie Peek Smith, Hunter Peek, Kevin Herndon, Amy Coady, Ashley Sartin, Misti Jackson-Derringer, Nathan, Joshua, Caleb and Hannah Sartin, and Natalie and Jill Rayfield; and six grandchildren, Lindsay and Justin Herndon, Madeline Coady, Liza Grace Jackson, Avery Grace Smith, and Hagan Derringer.

Visitation for Mrs. Lane will be held on Saturday, May 17th, 2014 from 5:00-8:00pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 18th, 2014 at 1:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Purdue and Rev. Mark Ashley officiating.

5/16/14 —- EDITH MARIE SMITH ISBELL

EDITH MARIE SMITH ISBELL, age 86, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Harton Regional Medical Center, Tullahoma, Tenn., following a brief illness.

Ms. Isbell was born in Union County, Tennessee on August 7, 1927, to the late Henley Sheridan and Eliza Bailey Smith.

She was a member of the Estill Springs Baptist Church. Ms. Isbell retired from Southern TN Medical Center in Winchester after twenty-five years of employment as a patient representative. When her children were growing up she was active with the cub scouts, brownie troups, teaching Sunday School classes and all the sports they were active in.  She was known to have a neighborhood “round table” at her home for all of her children’s friends and neighbors. She loved to cook and never measured any ingredients in her cooking and baking. No one left her house hungry and most of the time they took food home with them.  One of her favorite hobbies was reading. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother.

Ms. Edith was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 63 years, Robert Tyson Isbell.

 She is survived by her son, Howard (Sharon) Isbell of Estill Springs, Tenn., daughters; Debbie (David) Michael of Tullahoma, Tenn., Pam (Ken) Turner of Estill Springs, Tenn., grandchildren; John David (Erin) Michael of Atlanta, Ga., William Joshua (Crystal) Isbell of Norfolk, Va., Westley Kyle Isbell of Estill Springs, Tenn., Tyson Isbell of Virginia Beach, Va., Megan Marie Turner of Nashville, Tenn., Brandi (Andy) Giel of Estill Springs, Tenn., Chelsea Turner of Nashville, Tenn., Kristin Turner of Estill Springs, Tenn., great-grandchildren; Hailey Giel, Trenton Giel, Ansley Giel, Grayson Michael.

5/22/14 —- Leslie Keith Redmon

Mr. Leslie Keith Redmon, age 73, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed from this life on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Vanderbilt
University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family. 

Leslie was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Magdalene Taylor and one brother, Donnie Frances Nicolo.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Ann Redmon, of Manchester, Tennessee;  two sons Thomas Redmon and wife, Loraine, of Tullahoma, Tennessee and John Redmon of Murfreesboro, Tennessee;  two daughters, Myra Jane Raines and husband, Paul, of Indianapolis, Indiana and Amy May Redmon of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

 
Mr. Redmon was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Manchester, Tennessee.  He was a 30 year career accountant.  Les loved his time outdoors, walking the greenway and boating.  His passion for photography captured the beauty of life as he saw it and his love for reading fed his imagination.

 
Graveside Services for Mr. Leslie Redmon will be conducted on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Ragsdale Cemetery in Manchester, Tennessee, with Pastor Frank Bell officiating.  Inurnment will follow.

5/16/14 —– Jerry Wayne Wiser

Jerry  Wayne Wiser, age 38 of Beech Grove, Tennessee, passed away on May 12, 2014.

He was a Timber Cutter who loved his family and enjoyed fishing, music and the outdoors.

He was born in Manchester, TN to his father, the late Boss Wiser, Jr.  and mother, Jesse B. Majors Wiser of Shelbyville, TN who survives. In addition to his mother, Jerry is also survived by his loving wife, Jesse Nichole Spry Wiser of Beech Grove, TN; children, Alexis M. Rhoton and Allison N. Rhoton both of Manchester, TN; sister, Shirley A. Wiser; niece, Amber Nicole Ash; nephew, Alex Ash; great-niece, Alyss Ash; great-nephew, Alonzo Ash; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 11:00 a.m.  –  1:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be conducted following the visitation on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Allbright officiating.

Burial will follow at the Farrar Hill Cemetery.

5/11/14 —– Mary Jean James Fergus

flower5Mary Jean James Fergus expired May 11, 2014 at her residence.

She was born February 18, 1928 in Blackwell, Oklahoma where she attended secondary schools and later in San Antonio, Texas. She was a civic volunteer all her life, starting in San Antonio as a USO volunteer. The family moved to Tennessee in 1945, graduating from Tyner High School in 1946. She graduated from the University of Chattanooga with an BA degree in music. She was a member of Collegium Musicum, honorary music majors, and Quadrangle for honorary academics. She played flute with the Chattanooga Symphony and was vocalist in local opera. Moving to Tullahoma in 1953 with family, she instrumental in obtaining government funding for the federally impacted area (AEDC) for Tullahoma School System. 
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, active in the Methodist Women, served on a volunteer in Mission team to Honduras, and was a soloist and member of the sanctuary choir, handbell choir, flutist, and Strangely Warmed church school class. As coloratura, she also enjoyed singing for area churches and the Tullahoma Civic Chorus for many years. 

She was honored as Outstanding Citizen by the Tullahoma Jaycees in 1962 and as Volunteer of the year in 1981 by the Tullahoma Kiwanis Club for volunteer work with the American Red Cross blood mobile and founding Contact Lifeline in Tullahoma where she also was a phone volunteer and statistician. 

She loved horseback trail riding at the family Double J Ranch and facilities throughout the state. From a friend in Chattanooga, she became interested in therapeutic horseback riding programs for handicapped children. With her husband they built the first enclosed riding arena locally and founded Horse Play, the first local program of this type in 1996. To accommodate adults as well as children, the founded a second handicapped rider program, Freedom Friends, in 2001. Jean served as start up Instructor for both programs. Initial funding for the start up of the programs was provided by the Tennessee Valley Paso Fino Horse Association where she worked as a volunteer during their horse shows. 

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph L. Fergus Jr., daughters, Dr. Victoria Fergus of Morgantown, WV, Catherine Fergus Watson (Don) of Paducah, KY, son, J. Gary Fergus of Tullahoma, TN, granddaughter, Zannie Brewer, Nashville, TN, grandson, Zachary Thacker, Paducah, KY, first cousins, Robinell Oldham, Blackwell, OK and Wilbur Rust, of Sheffield, IA. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to the music ministry of the First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma.
