5/30/14 —– Jo Ann Lynch

Mrs. Jo Ann Lynch, age 53, of Manchester, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, May 30 at 2:30 PM at Lynch Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, May 30 from 1 PM – 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

A native of Dalton, GA, she was the daughter of John and Dorothy Blackwell Manley.

She had worked as a waitress and cook for many years. She enjoyed “Yard Sales” and going for walks in the woods.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Chris Lynch of Manchester; two sons, Grant Manley of Dalton, GA and Michael Cowart of Dalton, GA; two daughters, Sandra Cowart of Dalton, GA and Dorothy Berel of Texas; one brother, Ray Manley of Dalton, GA; seven grandchildren and her black Lab, “Free”.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the memorial fund at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

5/30/14 —- Mary Ruth Majors Parkes

Mrs. Mary Ruth Majors Parkes, age 83 of Huntsville, AL passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Grandview Gardens at Red Stone Village in Huntsville.

Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, May 30, 2014 at 1 PM at Lynchburg Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Etheridge officiating. Burial will follow at Lynchburg Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 11 AM until service time.

A native of Franklin County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Winstad Majors.

She was a member of Alders Gate United Methodist Church in Huntsville. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed cooking for them. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed volunteering her time to help others. She had volunteered at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester and in later years at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville. She also enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Curtis Parkes who passed away in September of 1995; two brothers, Charles and Wilson Majors and one half brother, Rodolph Ray.

She is survived by her son, Mike Parkes and his wife, Patricia of Libertyville, IL; daughter, Kathy Forsythe and her husband, Randy of Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Wilma Shasteen of Tullahoma and Mabel Ervin of Winchester; four grandchildren, Jennifer Parkes Kozak and her husband, Chris of Chicago, IL, Jason Parkes and his wife, Eleni of Linden Hurst, IL, Michael Forsythe of Huntsville, AL and David Forsythe and his wife, Lainie of Huntsville and her first great granddaughter, Athena Marie Parkes, who is expected in a few days.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Grandview Gardens at Redstone Village, 12000 Turnmeyer Drive, Huntsville, AL 35803.

5/29/14 —- William E. Harden

Mr. William E. Harden of Mulberry passed away Monday May 26, 2014 at Lincoln Donalson Care Center in Fayetteville.

A native of Lincoln County he was a son of the late Claude Harden and Maggie Bailey Harden.

He was a WWII Army Veteran and retired from Amana in Fayetteville and also a farmer. He was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ and loved to fish.

Mr. Harden is survived by his wife, Susie Harden of Mulberry; daughter-in-law Hallie Harden of Mulberry; granddaughter, Rochelle Harden of Mulberry; and great-granddaughter, Brittni Harden of Bartlett, TN and sister, Pearl Bailey and her husband Joe of Mulberry.

He was preceded in death by his sons William Henry Harden and Bobby Joe Harden; grandson; Vincent Harden; brothers; Joe Henry Harden and Claude Harden and sisters; Mary Lee Henderson and Inez Harden.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 5-8 PM at Lynchburg Funeral Home.

Mr. Harden will lie in state Thursday, May 29, from 12 noon until service time at 1 PM at Elm Street Church of Christ with Bro. Chris Whitaker officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mulberry Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Camp Joy or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

5/25/14 —- Gloria Mae Davis

Mrs. Gloria Mae Davis, age 74, of Tullahoma, TN, passed away Friday afternoon, May 23, 2014, at Life Care Center of Tullahoma.

A native of Tullahoma, TN., she was the daughter of the late James W. Holt and Rose Emma Sneed Holt.

In earlier years she was an LPN, but for the last several years she was a caregiver and homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Richard Leon Davis. 

She is survived by a special niece/ daughter Donna (Tim) Sanders of Winchester, TN., one grandson Alex (Hanna) Sanders of Winchester, TN., and one great grandson Jaxon Merritt Sanders, brother Johnny Holt of Lynchburg, TN., sisters Martha Brazelton and Bonnie Algood, both of Tullahoma, and several nieces and nephews. 


Visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon, May 25, 2014, from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside Services will begin at 3:00 PM with Brother Jack Hice officiating in Gault Cemetery in Franklin County, TN.

5/24/14 —- Bradley “Soldier” Wade Melton

Mr. Bradley “Soldier” Wade Melton, age 41 of Decherd, Tennessee lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, May 24 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, surrounded by his family.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Melton was known to enjoy a good time and repeatedly stated tFlower 12hat it had been “a good run”.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Sawyer.

His is survived by his father, Donald Melton of Decherd; sister, Mindy Melton of Monteagle; brother, Timothy Melton of Alto; three nephews, Elijah, Levi and Wyatt; one niece, Jillian and many friends.

James Raiford Seagraves age 70 of Manchester, TN. passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at Harton Regional Medical Center, Tullahoma, TN.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia with Bro. Pat Allison officiating.

Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 11:00 AM until time of service..

A native of Fulton County, Georgia he was the son of Charles Wright Seagraves, Jr. and Mary Virginia Williams Seagraves.

Mr. Seagraves served in the United States Navy as a barber. Following his service in the Navy, James owned and operated Seagraves Septic and Sewer for 30 years. After retirement he worked for NAPA delivering parts for 10 years. In 2007 James and his dear wife Mary moved to Manchester, TN to be closer to his family. He enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wright Seagraves,Jr , his mother Mary Virginia Seagraves and one brother Charles W. Seagraves, III.

In addition to his devoted wife of 46 years Mary, he is survived by one son Brian Seagraves and wife Darby of Manchester, TN, two grandsons Walker Seagraves and Waylon Seagraves of Manchester, TN.; one sister Diane Parks and husband Jim of Dahlonega, Ga.; sister-in-law Sandra Seagraves of Symrna, GA.; niece Jenna Seward and husband Charles of Athens, GA.; nephews, Charles W. Seagraves IV “Chuck” of Symrna, Ga. ,Michael Seagraves of Symrna, GA. and Clay Parks of Altanta, GA.

5/25/14 —– Johnnie Edman Horne

 Johnnie Edman Horne, age 90, passed into rest on May 22, 2014 at his home in Manchester, Tennessee.

Mr. Horne retired as Superintendent of the Gulf Coast Farms in Florida and moved to the Manchester, TN area where he was employed until retirement with Carrier Corporation, Inc. Mr. Horne was a United States Army WW II veteran and a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.

He was born in Fort Myers, FL to his parents, the late James Elbert Horne and Clara P. Nipper Horne. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Mae Massie Simmons, Violet Viola Vick Scott and Betty Beatrice Padilla; and brothers, Linley Edward, Ernest Elbert, Francis Everett, Donald Edison, Kenneth Elmer and Robert Ervin Horne. Mr. Horne, a member of Trinity Baptist Church, will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed farming, fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Jane Hambrick Horne of Manchester, TN; daughter, Betty Marlene Kelly of Manchester, TN; two grandchildren, Chris Kelly and his wife Kim of Murfreesboro, TN and Erin Dobson and her husband Jim of Manchester, TN; three great-grandchildren, Loren Elizabeth Kelly, Maura Leeann Kelly and John Bridges Dobson; Gene & Linda Horne and Jim & Massie Shari; and a host of other relatives and friends.

5/24/14 —— Ramon Glen Cintron Winfrey

Mr. Ramon Glen Cintron Winfrey , age 31, of Tullahoma, TN., passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester, TN.

Ramon was born in Tullahoma, TN., and was the son of Ricky Winfrey and the late Carmen Cintron Benson.

He was a member of College Street Baptist Church in Tullahoma. He loved music, fishing, hunting, and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandfather Ramon Cintron. 


He is survived by his sister Kristi Fanning, grandmother Julia Cintron of Tullahoma, Aunts Jackie York and Mary Houston of Estill Springs, Lori (Eddie) Saldivar of Winchester, TN., Cousins John York, Jenny Armstrong, Shelly Killian, Brian Houston, nieces Brittany Cintron, great nieces Abby and Daisie. 


Visitation with the family of Mr. Ramon Winfrey will be Friday evening, May 23, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.

5/24/14 —- Alan Lewis Bisby

Alan Lewis Bisby of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, May 21st, 2014 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester at the age of 26.

Alan was born in Tullahoma to Troy and Diana Bisby.flower4

He was a 2006 graduate of Tullahoma High School, where he played trumpet in the band. He was a very caring, open-minded, and compassionate person and had unmatched empathy. He also loved animals and enjoyed pranks and laughter. Alan was passionate about studying psychology and was always kind to anyone he ever met. He loved his family, and his brother, Eric, was his best friend.

Alan is preceded in death by his grandmother, Jane Boatman, and grandfather, Claude M. Bisby.

He is survived by his father, Troy Bisby of Tullahoma; his mother, Diana Bisby of Tullahoma; brother, Eric Bisby of Chicago; girlfriend, Kristen Youree of Tullahoma; grandfather, James Boatman of Tullahoma; grandmother, Viola Bisby of Palestine, Texas; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation for Alan will be held on Saturday, May 24th, 2014 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Father Michael Murphy officiating.

Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.

5/25/14 —- Jean M. Vanattia

Funeral services for Mrs. Jean M. Vanattia, age 74, of Hillsboro, TN will be conducted Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. 

 Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.  

Mrs. Vanattia passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at her residence in Hillsboro.  

She was born April 16, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Matthew Schaffrath and Anna Harling Schaffrath.  

She was a homemaker who enjoyed needle point, brain teaser games including crossword puzzles, which she excelled at and was known to be a diligent “ list maker” to the point of joyful  compulsion to those who loved her.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family.  She enjoyed a special relationship with Susie, her beloved dog and Lucy, her feline  friend.  She was a member of the Catholic faith.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Paul Vanattia and two grandchildren, Brian Vanattia and Reyna Vanattia.

She is survived by seven children, Paul Edward Vanattia of Tullahoma, TN; Kenneth Robert Vanattia and wife, Debra of Spring City, TN; John William Vanattia and wife, Karin of Elizabethtown, KY; Timothy Michael Vanattia and wife, Hope of Ocoee, TN; and Anne Marie Arms and husband, Michael of Hillsboro, TN; Susan Carol Granados and husband, Eddie of Atlanta, GA;  and  June Allison Johnson of Hillsboro, TN; 15 grandchildren; Stacy Holman, Melissa Vanattia, Emily Vanattia, Kaylene Vanattia, Christapher DeCent, Shawn DeCent,  Matthew Vanattia, James Vanattia, Shawn Vanattia,

Paige Vanattia, Jarod Vanattia, Maria Granados, Christian Granados, Gabrielle Johnson, Gavin Johnson and 9 greatgrandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother, James Schaffrath and a  sister, Carol Kohlstedt and husband, Michael all of Midlothian, IL.
