1/3/15 —— Delores “Dorsey” B. Hastings

flower 16Delores “Dorsey” B. Hastings, age 85 of Tullahoma, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 2, 2015 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home from 5 PM until 8 PM.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Lois Burger Ballard.

Delores originally worked for Southern Bell as a switchboard operator and this is where she met her husband, Bill. They were married September 03, 1949, and they remained married until Bill’s death in 2006.

During her years as a stay-at-home Mom, Delores (or Dorsey) was, first and foremost, a loving mother and wife and a kind and compassionate friend. She devoted her time to volunteer work with her children’s schools and activities. She was a member of several bowling teams and served on committees with Welcome Wagon clubs.

After caring for her dying mother, Delores began a second career as office manager and travel agent for “Travel First” in Tullahoma. She enjoyed visiting many places and meeting new friends. In the latter part of her life, Dorsey was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother known as “Nanny”. Her warm and gentle ways will be missed by family and friends alike.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bill R. Hastings, she was was preceded in death by three brothers, Rodney, William Ollie and Ronald Louis Ballard; one sister, Juanita Brassfield; grandson, Brett Allen Hastings and one sister-in-law, Lissa Ballard.

Mrs. Hastings is survived by one son, Bill Hastings and his wife, Gwen of Tullahoma; one daughter, Linda Hastings and her husband, Tom Vowell of Manchester; three grandchildren, Jennifer Moore and her husband, Jeff of Huntsville, Jared Hastings and his wife, Martha of Kingston Springs, TN and Ryan Vowell of Manchester; five great grandchildren, Cooper and Grady Moore, Charlotte and Amelia Hastings and Alex McClure; sister-in-law, Bonnie Ballard of Hillsboro and brother-in-law, Joe Brassfield, Hillsboro.

Memorial services for Mrs. Evelyn Marie Erickson, age 85, of Tullahoma, will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM till service time.

Mrs. Erickson was born in Chicago, IL to the late Ralph and Helen Baldwin Krueger. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Erickson and a son, Fredrick Erickson.

She is survived by her sons, Edward (Magda) Erickson, Steven Erickson, William Erickson, grandchildren, Edward Eric Erickson III, Elizabeth Erickson and Amanda Erickson.

1/2/15 —- Harvey Andrew Maddle, Jr.

Mr. Harvey Andrew Maddle, Jr., age 64 of Beechgrove, Tennessee, passed from this life on December 28, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Maddle was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey A. Maddle, Sr. and Martha Cordilla Luton Maddle.

He is survived by one daughter, Penny A. Gilbert of Springfield, Tennessee, two sons, Jeffery D. Maddle and wife Stacy of Beechgrove, Tennessee, Jason Keyt and wife Amanda of Beechgrove, Tennessee, two sisters, four brothers, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and dear friends, David and Becky Pittman of Beechgrove, Tennessee.

Mr. Maddle was of the Baptist faith. He was an electrician by trade and he enjoyed mud boggs, playing poker machines, and hanging out with his friends. Harvey will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services for Mr. Harvey Maddle, Jr. will be conducted on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Alvin McGill officiating.

Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery in Greenbrier, Tennessee.

Joshua Nathanael Rose, age 25 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on December 26, 2014 at the St. Thomas-Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.

Josh was a loving husband, father, son, brother and a friend to many people. He had numerous talents and abilities. A member of the Beechgrove Church of Christ, he will fondly be remembered as a compassionate helper to all of his loved ones and friends.

Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lee & Iva Rose and maternal grandparents, Henry Clayton & Elizabeth Aline Freeze.

Josh is survived by his loving wife, Lacy Jane Jones Rose of Manchester, TN; daughter, Victoria “Tori” Rose of Manchester, TN; father, Brent Lee Rose of Murfreesboro, TN; mother, Bonnie Freeze Cardwell and her husband Bruce of Wesley Chapel, FL; sisters, Jennifer Rose Allan (and Matt) of Murfreesboro, TN and Emily-Kate Cardwell Taylor (and Wade) of Beaver Dam, KY; brothers, Justin Rose and Garrett Cardwell both of Wesley Chapel, FL; grandparents, Bill and Carolyn Cardwell of St. Augustine, FL; nephews, Carter Matthew Allan and Preston James Jones; nieces, Eliza Caroline Taylor and Hayley Abrianna Tant; and a host of other relatives and friends.

1/9/15 —– Henry Louis Morsette

Henry Louis Morsette, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday, December 26th, 2014 at Life Care Center at the age of 83.

Mr. Morsette was born in Batesville, Mississippi to the late Archie Joseph and Bessie Lee Downs Morsette.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Korean Era and was a Combat Engineer with the Second Infantry Division. Mr. Morsette went on to work as a Lithographer with the Southern Publishing Association and was a member of the Tullahoma Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He loved his family dearly, and enjoyed making different wood patterns that his wife would later paint. He also enjoyed building bird houses and working in his yard. Mr. Morsette especially loved caring for his rose bushes. Every morning, he would pick a rose from his bush and have it waiting at the breakfast table for his wife Mary. He would also pack her lunch every day before she went to work and write her note, telling her to have a good day, that he loved her and he would see her when she got home.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morsette is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Morsette; and one sister, Mary.

He is survived by two loving children, Henry Wayne Morsette and his wife Nancy of Tullahoma, and Brenda Morsette Wilson of Tullahoma; one brother, Eddie Morsette and his wife Nita; three grandchildren, Ryan and Joey Bulger, both of Colorado, and Erin Davis and her husband Bug of Tullahoma; two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Natalie Davis; three special nephews and niece, Mike Morsette and his wife Shawn, Robbie Morsette, and Bonnie Morsette; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2015 at 11:00am at the Tullahoma Seventh-day Adventist Church, 908 Cedar Lane, Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388.

12/29/14 —— Brenda Kay Duggin

Brenda Kay Duggin, age 58, a McMinnville, TN resident and Stevenson, AL native died December 26, 2014 in St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, Murfreesboro, TN following a brief illness.

She was an employee of Smarty Pants Daycare, charter member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church and daughter of the late James C. and Martha Pauline McGuire Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Lee and Ronnie Lee and sister, Doris Watts.

Mrs. Duggin was married November 5, 1977 to Danny Duggin who survives. She is also survived by son, Darrell (Collette) Lee and daughter, Tina Tyler all of McMinnville; grandchildren, Isaac Tyler, Deserra Lee, Dillon Lee and Noah Pack; step-great-grandchildren, Gunnar Hillis and Madison Hillis and sister, Jean Hudson of McMinnville.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday in High’s Chapel with Kenneth W. Kirby to officiate.

Interment will follow in the Long Cemetery in Van Buren County.

Visitation will b e 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Sunday, December 28, 2014 and 8:00 A.M. Monday until time of service at High’s.

Funeral services for Finney Weaver, age 71, of Belvidere will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Uselton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be held Sunday afternoon from 3:00 till 8:00 PM at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Mr. Weaver passed away Thursday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Mr. Weaver grew up on horses from the time he was born. He showed walking horses at local shows and at the Celebration in Shelbyville as a child. As an adult he owned and operated a dairy farm in Lynchburg for years. During that time he owned and raised, and fell in love with, spotted saddle horses. He founded the first registry for spotted saddle horses and was the first president of the registry. Once the dairy operation was sold, he and Melissa raised, owned, and sold walking horses until his death. Their passion was their family, and their escape was horseback riding. He was inducted, for accomplishments and promotion of spotted saddle horses, as a Hall of Fame member in SSHBEA, a spotted saddle horse organization.

He loved people and he loved life. He never met a stranger and he influenced the lives of many people, young and old.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Weaver, daughters, Kelley (Dwayne) Cawthon, Jenni (Jeremy) Byford, Pallie Weaver, sister, Brenda (Bill) Uselton, grandchildren, Krissy Delaughter, Meghan Brayton, Lauren Moore, R.J. Moore, John Michael Moore, Emma Ingram, Chesnie Ingram, and great grandchildren, Nathan and Gabriel.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn Marie Banks, age 69, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Matt Hastings and Richard Reed officiating.

Burial will follow in Prairie Plains Methodist Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 AM until time of service on Sunday.

Mrs. Banks passed away on Thursday, December 25 at Medical Center of Manchester.

Mrs. Banks was born in Franklin County, TN, the daughter of the late William and Willie Mae Baker Hill.

She was a homemaker and a member of Estill Springs Nazarene Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Banks was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers, Pauline Hill, Neil Walls, Leslie Wimbley, Verna Mae Hice, Richard Hill, Preston Hill, and Hobart Hill.

She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, William Manuel Banks of Manchester; four sons, Troy David Rogers, Jr. of Decherd, Jeffery Wayne Rogers of Winchester, Ronald DeWayne Banks of Whiteville, and Rodney Guinn of Moore County; two brothers, Ronald Dewayne (Barbara Sue) Hill and Donald Dewayne (Helen) Hill, both of Manchester; one sister, Maymie Ruth Bennett of Manchester; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Tommy Brewer, age 74 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away, Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Keller and Bro. Bobby Watkins officiating.

Burial will follow at Owens Chapel Cemetery in Franklin County.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, December 27, 2014  from 5 PM till 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Mr. Brewer, a native of Winchester, was the son of the late James Louis and Sally Morris Brewer.

He was a member of the Christian Lighthouse Church in Tullahoma. Mr. Brewer enjoyed piddling, working with his pet chickens and going to flea markets. He was a fan of gospel and bluegrass music and enjoyed attending singings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Brewer and four sisters, Alma Owens, Edna Klamt, Jean Campbell and Nellie Hubbard.

He is survived by two sons, Randy Brewer and his wife, Diania of Tullahoma and Terry Brewer and his wife, Rowena of Tullahoma; two brothers, David Brewer of Winchester and Floyd Brewer and his wife, Sylvia of Wartrace; two sisters, Molly Brewer and her special friend, Winn Greene of Tullahoma and Ann Evans of Flat Rock, AL; four grandchildren; ex-wife, Judy Brewer Pruett of Tullahoma; special friends, Frances Bunn of Manchester and Vivian Zimmerman of Tullahoma and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
