2/27/15 —– Rhonda Lynn Meeks Pleasant

Rhonda Lynn Meeks Pleasant age 47 of Shelbyville passed away Monday evening, February 23, 2015, at United Medical Center in Manchester.

She was formerly of Pelham and was a cosmetologist.

She is survived by her husband, Albert Eugene Pleasant, Shelbyville; son, Patrick Meeks, Pelham; daughter, Alexis Pleasant, Shelbyville; parents, Ralph C. and Helen Medley Meeks, Pelham; brother, Richard Meeks, Murfreesboro; sister, Cindy McCord, Austin, TX; aunts, Reeda Kay Shelton, Willie Jo Medley and Mary Medley; uncle, Clifton Medley.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend De Hennessy officiating.

Burial will be in the Church of Christ Cemetery in Pelham.

The family will receive friends Thursday 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.funeral flower

2/27/15 —— William Marvin “Bill” Moss

William Marvin “Bill” Moss, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, February 23rd, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 73.

Mr. Moss was born in Doyle, Tennessee to the late Byron S. Moss Sr. and Dimple Shelton Moss.

Mr. Moss was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, where he served during Vietnam. After his retirement, he worked with the security department at AEDC/ACS.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moss is preceded is preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Lloyd Moss.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Moss of Tullahoma; three step-children, Kathy Garner and her husband David of Tullahoma, Stevie Wilhoit and his wife Kim of Tullahoma, and Camie Chilton of Tullahoma; two brothers, Byron S. Moss Jr. and his wife Gail of Chattanooga, and Aaron L. Moss and his wife Barbara of Chickamauga, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Jimmy Lee Wilhoit, Stevie Wilhoit Jr., Jessie Wilhoit, Amanda Bohanan, Kaylan Ingle, Crystal Ocheltree, Leslie Groce, Brandy Chilton, and Richard Lee Chilton; and 16 great-grandchildren, Thomas, Tessi, Pazily, Tyler, Taylor, Torie, Spencer, Alexis, Dalton, Tampa, Nevaeh, Alayah, Joshua, Christopher, Bryan, and Shylah.

Visitation for Mr. Moss will be held at Kilgore Funeral Home on Thursday, February 26th, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 27th, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Alexander officiating.

2/26/15 —— Mary Ruth Fisher McInturff

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ruth Fisher McInturff, age 96, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Bush officiating.

Burial will follow in Summitville Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. McInturff passed from this life on Tuesday morning at her granddaughter’s residence in Murfreesboro.

Mary Ruth was born in Franklin County, TN, the daughter of the late John Henry and Emma Bell Smith Fisher.

She became a Christian at an early age, while attending Center Grove Church of Christ in Franklin County. In later years, she attended the Pocahontas and Shady Grove congregations in Coffee County, where she resided for 55 years. The last four years of her life, she lived with and was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Jo Anne Malone, and her family in Murfreesboro.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lazarus McInturff; three sons, Eugene, John Wesley “Johnny”, and Larry Wayne McInturff; one daughter, Emma Elizabeth (Ralph) Bush; three brothers, Charles, Wilbur, and David Fisher; and two sisters, Pauline Fisher Phipps and Ethel Fisher Arnold.

She is survived by one son, Stanley (Betty) McInturff; one sister, Inez Fisher Partin; eleven grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend, Sally Reynolds and her daughters, Nicky and Kelley.

Mrs. Linda Eileen Clark, age 68 of Manchester,Tennessee passed from this life on Monday, February 23 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Beatrice Elizabeth Peterson McDougle.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-six years, Odrey Clark, two daughters, Stacey Clark of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Trisha Lantz and husband Shannon of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, one son Scott Clark and wife Shannon of Jacksonville, Florida, one sister, Brenda Duley and
husbandDennis of Charlotte, North Carolina, five grandchildren, Aaron, Jayden, Camden,
Makena and Kelton, an honorary sister, Pam Trantham and husband Jim of North Carolina.

Mrs. Clark was a member of the First Baptist Church in Manchester, Tennessee. She was very active
in many Church ministries including Bible Buddies and Multi-focus WMU Missions. Mrs. Linda was a registered nurse for fifty-one years, devoting her knowledge and care to help others. She
enjoyed spending time with her precious grandchildren and family. Her faith and her family were her life.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Linda E. Clark will be conducted on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery in Hillsboro, Tennessee with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

2/25/15 —– Raymond Howard Buckner

Raymond Howard Buckner, age 74 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on
February 22, 2015 at the Medical Center of Manchester.

Howard owned and operated the B & B Texaco Service Station in Manchester since
the early 1970’s. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Germany during
the 1960’s. He loved farming, raising horses and showing horses.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Buckner and Ester Brannon
Buckner; and brothers, Charles Buckner, Garrett Buckner and B.F. Buckner.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Good Buckner of
Manchester, TN; daughter, Lisa Ann Holbrook (Mike) of Manchester, TN;
sister, Jessie Reed of Chattanooga, TN; brother, Joe Buckner of
Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Jordan Jones and Justin Jones; two
great-grandchildren, Laine Jones and Logan Jones; and many other
relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 4 – 8 p.m. at
Central Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at
1 p.m. at the Central Funeral Home with Brother Benny Benjamin and Pastor

2/28/15 —- John Mitchell Sawyer

Rev. John Mitchell Sawyer, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at Life Care Center in Tullahoma at the age of 92.

Rev. Sawyer was born in the Lois Community in Moore County to the late Zery Norman Sawyer and Byrd Alice Mitchell Sawyer.

He served his country in the United States Navy During World War II and preached his first sermon at Pearl Harbor in 1945.

Rev. Sawyer continued his education at Tennessee Tech University, Middle Tennessee State University, and Emory University Seminary School. He became licensed to preach on July 1st, 1948 and received ordination as a deacon on July 1st, 1952. On July 1st, 1955 he was made an elder in full connection: he served many United Methodist congregations, including, The Pelham Charge, The Rickman Charge, Wartrace/Normandy Charge, Elkton, Shelbyville Whiteside Church, Wesley Heights Church in Tullahoma, Hillsboro/Prairie Plains Charge, Forrest Mills, Coffee County Cooperative, Forest Street Church in Clarksville, Cannon Church in Shelbyville, Bethel/Farris Chapel Charge, Clarkrange Church in Fentress County, Lynchburg Parrish, and Fredonia Church in Manchester. Rev. Sawyer also served one Presbyterian congregation at Hillsboro Cumberland Presbyterian.

He retired on June 15th, 2009. Rev. Sawyer was a member of the Order of Masons, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Royal Arch Masons of Tennessee, Order of the Eastern Star-Winchester Chapter 196, Oddfellows Lodge, The Navigators, United Daughters of the Confederacy, American Legion-Manchester Post 78, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Sawyer is preceded by his wife of 59 years, Etta Lois Stewart Sawyer; one daughter, Carolyn Sawyer Damron; two brothers, James “Jim” Sawyer and Billy Earnest Sawyer; and one sister, Lucille Stewart.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandi Sawyer Nichols and her husband Bruce of Lynchburg; son-in-law, Donald Damron of Tullahoma; five grandchildren, Dewayne Damron and his wife Jennifer of Lynchburg, Cindy Damron Goodwin of Tullahoma, Dr. P. Brent Nichols and his wife Tanya of Spokane, Washington, Dr. Carrie Nichols Elkins and her husband Michael of Heflin, Alabama, and John Paul Damron and his wife Darla of Shelbyville; 11 great-grandchildren, Cory Damron and his wife Chelsee, Reagan Damron, Callie Goodwin, Thomas Mitchell Goodwin, Hannah Nichols, Chloe Nichols, Seth Elkins, Sawyer Elkins, Lucy Damron, Katherine Damron, and Jeanna Damron; one great-great-granddaughter, Alyssa Walls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. AJ Alderman, Bob Case, and J.C. Stewart officiating. Masonic Rites will also be held at the funeral home to conclude the funeral service.

2/25/15 —– Edward “Jack” Phillips

Edward “Jack” Phillips, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday, February 22nd, 2015 at his residence at the age of 81.

Mr. Phillips was born in Franklin County, Tennessee to the late John Clayton and Emma Pauline Phillips.

Mr. Phillips served his country in the United States Army during Korea and Vietnam as well as the Army National Guard. He went on to work as a machinist with Carrier Technology, where he retired from in 1995.

Mr. Phillips attended Vine Street Church of God and was an avid hunter, particularly of squirrels, rabbits, and raccoons. He also raised and bred beagles for many years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by two brothers, Aubrey “Cobb” Phillips, and Wayne Phillips; one sister, Doris Neal; and one son, Randall Phillips.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Benson Phillips; four children, Michael “Eddie” Phillips and his wife Sherry of Gallatin, Karen Phillips Hargrove and her husband Jimmy of Tullahoma, Judy Phillips Evans and her husband Keith of Tullahoma, and Johnny C. Phillips and his wife Grace of Tullahoma; seven grandchildren, Jeremy and his wife Nycole, Justin and his wife Jada, Renia and her husband Cody, Tifini and her husband Josh, Andrea and her husband Jason, Amanda and her husband Andy, and Cruz; five great-grandchildren, Colin, Carter, Riley, Michael, and Hudson; one brother, Ronald Phillips; and three sisters, Era Wilhoit, Lillian Stewart, Linda Hane.

Mrs. Nancy Olive Hart age 63 of Lynchburg, Tennessee passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hart a native of Monroe, Michigan, was the daughter of the late Silas Arthur Prater, Sr. and Catherine Hagner Prater.

Mrs. Hart worked at Jack Daniel Distillery as a machine operator. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church. She dearly loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Taylor passed away at her residence in Nashville, TN on Thursday evening.

Lois was born in Coffee County, TN, the daughter of the late Hardy R. and Hessie Lee Brandon Holt.

She was a homemaker and was previously employed at Vester Music Company in Nashville, TN. She was a member of Glendale United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Lois was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Warren Taylor, who passed away in 1996; and five siblings, Lurene Byars, Lorene Batte, Leighton Holt, Jane Willis, and Ann Cline.

She is survived by three sons, Keith (Judy) Taylor and Hal (Celia) Taylor, both of Murfreesboro, and Glenn (Michelle) Taylor of Germantown; one daughter, Kay Dayton of Hendersonville; ten grandchildren, Kyle (Jamie) Taylor, John Dayton, Laura (Brandon) Wells, Michael Dayton, Emily Dayton, Sarah (Dan) Shanaman, Brandon Taylor, Claire Taylor, Erin Taylor, and Amy Taylor; one great grandchild, Lyla Shanaman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
