3/17/15 —- Albert Edward Jones

Albert Edward Jones, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 81.

Mr. Jones was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to the late Theopolis and Lena Frazee Jones.

During his life, he worked as a Machinist with Cleveland Pneumatic and was a member of First Baptist Church in Tullahoma.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Jones; and three children, Eddie, Jeffery, and Kathy Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Jones of Tullahoma; one daughter, Sandy Vaughn and her husband Roger of Tullahoma; two sons, Roger Jones of Smithfield, Pennsylvania, and Scott Jones of Tullahoma; one sister, Mary Alice Brown and her husband Charles of Tullahoma; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Mandy Vaughn, Erika and Brad Jones, Bud Jones, Joy Valente, Jackie Zyla, and Tara Larew; seven great-grandchildren; and his faithful dog and best friend, Buddy.

Visitation for Mr. Jones will be held on Monday, March 16th, 2015 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Christian Watts officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

3/17/15 —- Linda Lee Ellis

Linda Lee Ellis, of Estill Springs, passed this life on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 66.

Mrs. Ellis was borfuneral flowern in Rutherford County, Tennessee to that late William E. and Mary Christina Dyer Brohawn.

During her life, she worked as hairdresser, owning Linda’s Hair Design. She was a member of New Brick Church of Christ and was formerly involved with the Girl Scouts of America, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Order of the Rainbow for Girls.

Mrs. Ellis is survived by her husband, Don Ellis of Estill Springs; three children, Lisa Logan and her husband Joe of Ringold, Georgia, Pam Ellis of Tullahoma, and Donny Ellis of Estill Springs; two brothers, Bob Miller and his wife Phyllis of Manchester, and Bill Brohawn and his wife Pat of Palm Beach, Florida; and two grandchildren, Sydney and Allie Logan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 16th, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 at 2:30 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lynn Thorpe and Bro. Bill Williams officiating.

3/15/15 —- James David Hughes

James David Hughes, age 51, of Tullahoma, TN, went to be with Jesus on March 11th at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

There will be a celebration of his life at 2:00, Sunday, March 15th at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN.

A graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

David was born October 20, 1963 in Decatur, GA to Elinor Gayle McAfee Hughes and the late James Houston Hughes.

His sisters are, Laura (Allan Rudie) of IL, and Amanda (Larry Price) of GA.

David was a devote husband to Gaye Brewster Hughes for their 25 years of marriage. They have four children, Anna (Danilo Vara) of OK, Bethany (Wesley Crews) of NC, Abigail Hughes, and Nathan Hughes who remember their daddy as a loving, God- fearing man and a strong leader who strived for excellence in everything he did.

He was a very talented mechanical engineer at Arnold Engineering Development Center for 25 years. David enjoyed hiking, golfing, and fishing with his family. He served as a song leader, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at Forest Mill Baptist Church. He bravely battled pancreatic cancer for more than 4 years and demonstrated a strong faith in Jesus Christ. His goal in life can be read in Matthew 5:16. He frequently reminded others that life is short and only the things done for the Lord will last.

3/17/15 —- Vivian Northcutt

Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian Northcutt, age 95 of Manchester will be conducted at 2:00pm, Tuesday, March 17 at the Chapel of Manchester Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Elam officiating.

Burial will follow in the Cypress Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation with the Northcutt family will be from 6 pm until 8 pm, Monday evening at Manchester Funeral Home.

Mrs. Northcutt passed this life Friday, March 13 in Manchester surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Northcutt was born in Viola, Tennessee the daughter of the late Paty and Eileen Gwyn.

She worked for many years as a cook for the family of Dr. Clarence Farrar and was a member of the Lane Street Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vivian was also preceded in death by her husband, Mack Northcutt, son, Jimmy Northcutt and by a grandson, Sylvester Norman.

3/16/15 —- WILLIAM “Bill” L. LENTZ

Mr. William “Bill” Lentz, 88, went home to be with the Lord on March 13, 2015, after a three-year battle with melanoma.

He was born on September 2, 1926 in Florence, Alabama to Luke V. and Mabel Chittam Lentz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Jerri” Conry Lentz of 57 years and brother, Kenneth D. Lentz, Sr. of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He is survived by his nephews, K. Douglas Lentz, Jr. of Tullahoma, Tennessee; John V. (Penny) Lentz of Flintstone, Georgia, and William R. (Angie) Lentz of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and several great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lentz graduated from Chattanooga Central High School in 1944.

Mr. Lentz was employed as Product Manager of the Engineering and Design Department at Royal-DeSoto, Inc. During his 34+ years of employment at DeSoto, Mr. Lentz was issued two patents for Fireplace Screen assembly (solo) and Miniature Greenhouse (jointly).

He was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church of Chattanooga prior to moving to Manchester. For the past 13 years, Mr. Lentz attended the Tullahoma First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Lentz was a kind, gentle man who cared for his loving wife and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends at Central Funeral Home, 2812 Hillsboro Highway in Manchester, Tennessee from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2015 and the funeral will be on Monday, March 16th at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Athens City Cemetery in Athens, Alabama.

3/15/15 —- HAYES C. AUSTIN

HAYES C. AUSTIN, age 56, of Cowan, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems of Winchester.

He attended Cowan Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Austin was a veteran of the United States Army. Hayes enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.

Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his father, Heyward Austin, father-in-law, Johnny Ake and brother-in-law, David Ake.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Donna Austin of Cowan, Tenn., daughters; Jennifer Austin and Ashlee Austin both of Cowan, mother, Elon Austin of Cowan, sister; Kathy(Bill) Hane of Tullahoma, Tenn., brothers; Butch(Jenny Sue) Austin of Cowan and Randy(Linda) Austin of Cowan, brother-in-law, Darrell(Kathy) Ake of GA, mother-in-law, Jean Ake of Cowan, special grandson, Bentley Hayes Austin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. at Grant Funeral Services.

Funeral services will also be held on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Brother Josh Haun and Brother Dan Williams, officiating.

3/14/15 —- Katherine “Peggy” O’Neal Gilliam

flower 24Memorial visitation for Katherine “Peggy” O’Neal Gilliam will be held from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 14 at Manchester Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gilliam, age 97, of Manchester, passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2015.

Ms. Gilliam was preceded in death by her parents, Charles V. and Sallie C. O’Neal; her husband, Fred H. Gilliam; and her brother, Charles E. O’Neal.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Gilliam of Manchester; a nephew, Charles W. O’Neal of Murfreesboro; a great niece, Jody (Michael) Wrather of Murfreesboro and their children, Harrison, Sumner, and Katherine “Katie”; a great nephew, Justin (Sara) O’Neal of San Antonio, TX and their children, Morgan and Parker; and a host of friends of every age.

She was the oldest member of First United Methodist Church in Manchester and the most long-standing member of that church. She was a charter member of the Green Thumb Garden Club, long-time treasurer of the Coffee County Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of the Literary Forum. The Manchester Rotary Club presented her with the Paul Harris Fellowship medal.

3/14/15 —– Edward Kenneth Finney

On March 11, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Manchester, Edward Kenneth Finney, aged 85, passed peacefully from this life to the next.

The son of the late Jesse Lawrence and Elizabeth Little Finney of Decherd, he married the love of his life Dorothy LaVerne Boyd, also of Decherd, on May 28, 1948.

In 1957, they moved from Franklin County to Coffee County, buying their first diary farm in the Sixteenth Model community. As a professional farmer, he row-cropped, administered a Grade-A dairy, and specialized in raising and selling heifer clav As an active member of both the church and community, Mr. Finney and his family attended the Antioch Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder for twenty-six years. Additionally, he served as president of the Coffee County Farm Bureau for three years, sitting on the Board of Directors for more than fifty years. Likewise, he served on both the Duck River Electric and Coffee County Farmers Co-Op boards of directors. While farming, he received many accolades, including the Farmer of the Year in 1978 and the Heritage Farm Award in 2008. Mr. Finney stated, “The Lord has blessed me throughout my life. I could not have done this without Him and my family.”

He is preceded in death by his infant son, Marvin Earl Finney; his brother, Elroy Finney; and his half-brother, Howard Warren.

His survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Dorothy LaVerne Finney; his sons: James (Roberta) Finney, Larry (Patricia) Finney, and Dewayne (Connie) Finney, all of Manchester; his daughters: Alma (Terry Wayne) Cowan of Hillsboro, Valda Barrett, Doris (Marlin) McCullough both of Manchester, and Phyllis (Richard) Bishop of Winchester; his brother: Bobby (Regina) Finney of Decherd; and his sisters: Henrietta Van Natter, Elizabeth Ann (Cornell) Meeker, both of Kokomo, IN, Sue (Pete) Raney of Culter, IN, Jo Ella (Ulyless) Partin of Manchester, Mary Walls and Margaret (Gary) Rigsby, both of Decherd. He had nine grandchildren, two step-grandsons, eight great-grandchildren, and six step great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Finney will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 on Friday, March 13, at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN, as well as on Saturday, March 14, with a tribute to his life, officiated by Edward Scot Crosslin, following at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Compasses, Alzheimer’s Association, or Juvenile Diabetes.

flowers 7Martha Bush McKenzie, age 78 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on March 10, 2015 at the NHC Health Care Center in Murfreesboro.

She was a retired secretary with MCA Sign Company and a member of the Church of Christ at Cedar Lane in Tullahoma, TN.

Mrs. McKenzie was born in Wartrace, TN to her parents, the late Lonnie Houston Bush and Bernice Messick Bush. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. McKenzie; son, Stephen Wesley Fults; sister, Jane Carlton and brother, Roy Lee Bush.

She is survived by her daughters, Jan Worley (Mike) of Murfreesboro, TN and Robin Bailey (Andrew) of Harvest, AL; sister, Carole Bush of Murfreesboro, TN; two grandchildren, Lyndsay Hannah of Murfreesboro, TN and Sarah Bailey of Birmingham, AL; two great-grandchildren, Lucas Riley Hannah and Charlie Quinn Hannah; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Donny Edward Ferrell, age 53 of Tullahoma passed away, Tuesday, March 10.

Graveside Services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 1 PM at Maplewood Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Smith officiating.

Mr. Ferrell, a native of Dover, Delaware was the son of the late Jessie Edward Ferrell and Doris Gilliam Ferrell of Tullahoma.

He was a Mason and enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his father, he was preceded by one brother, Chad Ferrell.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Moore Ferrell of Tullahoma; one son, Donny Ferrell Jr. of Tullahoma; one daughter, Jessica Ferrell of Tullahoma; one sister, Carla Ferrell of Hillsboro and five grandchildren, Kensley, Jessie, Lucas, and Kadie Ferrell and Bella Brashears.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the memorial fund at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.
