3/21/15 —- ALINE JUDGE BARNES

ALINE JUDGE BARNES, age 91, of Cowan, departed this life Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Lakeside Manor in Winchester.

Aline was born on December 31, 1923 to the late John and Betty Morris Judge.

Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Cowan First Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school for over 40 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, James Barnes.

Aline is survived by her sons; Bruce Barnes and his wife, Betty, Ricky Barnes and his wife, Linda and Barry Barnes and his wife, Angie all of Cowan, nine grandchildren; Brenda Welch and her husband, Stan of Winchester, Beverly Smith and her husband, Bret of Winchester, Brent Barnes and his wife, Jodi of Phoenix, AZ, April DuBois and her husband, Curt of Huntland, Tenn., Angie Sellers and her husband, Phil of Winchester, Cody Mason and her husband, Mikie of Winchester, James David Barnes of Winchester, Phillip Trevor Barnes of Winchester and Matt Barnes, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Grant Funeral Services.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of Grant Funeral Services, with Bro. Tim Brown and Bro. L.Z. Johnson, officiating.

Interment will follow beside her loving husband, James at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery in Cowan.

3/21//15 — Jeffery Sherman “Jeff” Lowhorn

Jeffery Sherman “Jeff” Lowhorn, age 48, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, March 18th, 2015.

Jeff was born in Tullahoma to the late Sherman and Dorothy Ingleburger Lowhorn.

He was a graduate of Tullahoma High School and went on to attend Middle Tennessee State University. Jeff worked as an Assembler with TE Connectivity in Tullahoma and was an avid fan of Lynyrd  Skynyrd, University of Tennessee Football, NASCAR, and Facebook.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Lowhorn.

Jeff is survived by one brother, Gary Lowhorn and his wife Robin of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Ivy Lowhorn of Estill Springs; niece, Jennifer Judy of Powell, Tennessee; two nephews, Ryan and Aaron Lowhorn, both of Estill Springs; two great nephews, Cole and Ty Judy; two great-nieces, Lexi and Audrey Lowhorn; many special aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins; and his faithful dog and companion, Chico.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21st, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home with the funeral service to immediately follow at 3:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tullahoma Animal Shelter, 942 Maplewood Avenue, Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388.

3/23/15 —- Lori Ann Voisin-Arms

Lori Ann Voisin-Arms, 55 passed away on Sunday, March 15,2015 at her residence in Tullahoma, TN.

Beloved Wife of the Late Michael C. Arms. Daughter of the the Late Emilie (Lovie)Nassar and the Late Clifford R. Voisin. Mother of Monique DeBlieux. Cousin of the Late Lawrence E. Nassar, the Late Dewey A. Nassar III, and Karen N. Brown(Brad). Aunt of Brad Brown(Nicole), Jason A. Brown(Paige) Denise N. Cabral(Chris) and Dewey A Nassar IV. Also survived by a Host of Cousins, Great Nieces, and Nephews, Family and Friends.

She was a life long resident of Lakeview and the North shore of New Orleans but has lived in Tullahoma, TN for the past 2 years.

Services will be held Monday, March 23 at Saint Dominic Church at 12:00 pm and will be followed with interment immediately after services at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.

Robert Kenneth Anderson, age 83 of Hillsboro, Tennessee, passed away on March 17, 2015 at the St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.

Mr. Anderson was a salesman with Security Seed & Chemicals and an avid UT Football fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Anderson; parents, Abb Anderson and Willie Jane Phillips Anderson; sisters, Virginia Moore and Shirley Driver; brothers, Donald Anderson and Dewey Anderson.

He is survived by his children, Robert Kenneth “Kenny” Anderson, Jr. (Sandy) of Hillsboro, TN, Michael Kelly Anderson (Melinda) of Manchester, TN, Karen Anderson Hampton (Phillip) of Lexington, KY, Brian Keith Anderson of Hillsboro, TN and Kimberly Lea Adams (Mike) of Manchester, TN; seven grandchildren, Michael Kelly Anderson, Jr. (Andrea), Sam Anderson (Mandy), Brian Anderson (Scarlett), Phillip Wayne Hampton, Jr., Brittany Renee Hampton, Kelsey Michaela Adams, and Linsey Mae Adams; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Alex; and many other special relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Central Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

3/19/15 —- Clara J. Wray

Mrs. Clara J. Wray, 80  of Lewisburg, TN  passed away on March 14, 2015 at St. Thomas Rutherford.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Aline James.

She was retired from the Marshall County School System.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. William Wray and three daughters, Mrs. Monae Fletcher, Ms. Tonja Wray, and Ms. Jacqueline London; one son, Darryl Wray; and sister, Mrs. Mary Ruth Horton; one granddaughter, Kristen Wray.

Visitation will be Wednesday, at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home from 3-7 p.m. The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m.

Viewing will begin at Greater First Baptist Church Thursday, March 19th at 11 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at Noon. Rev. Robert Bell officiating.

3/20/14 —- James W. Swoape

Mr. James W. Swoape, age 60 of Manchester, Tennessee passed away, Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury, TN.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 20 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 12:00 PM until service time at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery.

Mr. Swoape, a native of Tullahoma, was the son of the late Jessie W. and Virginia Blanche Swoape.

He worked as a brick mason and also drove trucks. He was a U S Navy veteran and served in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and drawing/painting pictures. He also enjoyed playing cards, chess, dominoes and checkers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Swoape.

Mr. Swoape is survived by one son, Josh Swoape and his wife, Jacqueline of Manchester; one adopted son, Jimmy Swoape of West Plains, MO; two adopted daughters, Jessica Southerland and Sheirie Posey, both of West Plains, MO; two sisters, Susan Snow of Woodbury and Connie Willis and her husband, Gordon of Tullahoma; two nieces, Angela Bowden and her husband, Jason of Tullahoma and Candie Knox and her husband, Robert of South Pittsburg; one nephew, Thomas Farrar and his fiancé, Glenda of Woodbury and one granddaughter, Jocelyn Swoape.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the memorial fund at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

3/17/15 — ARNOLD “JACK” JARNAGIN

ARNOLD “JACK” JARNAGIN, age 89, formerly of Cowan, Tennessee, departed this life on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Golden Living Center-Mtn. View in Winchester, Tennessee following an extended illness. 

Mr. Jarnagin was a Navy veteran. 

He was employed in the woodworking department of a Furniture store in Morristown, Tenn. for approximately forty years. His hobbies were watching sports on T.V., “especially women’s sports.” He also loved dogs and they loved him as well. 

He is survived by his daughters; Judie Cleary and husband, Joe of Reno, Nevada, Nancy Scott of Winchester, TN, Anita Winchester and husband, David of Lucas, Ohio, Janet McDaniel of Quitaque, Texas, sons;  Rick Jarnagin of Warsaw, Indiana and John Jarnagin, of Joliet, Illinois.11

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening, March 17, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with military honors bestowed.

3/17/15 —- Violet Louise Bennett Roberts

Funeral services for Mrs. Violet Louise Bennett Roberts, age 83, of Manchester will be conducted Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Howard Carroll officiating.

Interment will follow services at Shelton Cemetery in Beechgrove, TN.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Roberts passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN.

She was born December 20, 1931 in Coffee County, Tennessee the daughter of the late George Walker Mayfield Bennett and Bertha Basham Bennett.

Mrs. Roberts was a wonderful homemaker who loved her children and grandchildren. She was a people person and in earlier years, worked as a waitress. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, who always looked forward to her rhubarb pies and chocolate pies. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. Mrs. Roberts was a longtime member of New Life Church in Manchester.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph H. Roberts in December 1998; her daughter, Brenda Joyce Roberts Stapler and three sisters, Naomi Bennett Devault, Mildred Bennett Miller and Georgia Bennett.

Survivors include her loving son, Larry Joe Roberts of Hillsboro, TN; four grandchildren, Kim Roberts Potter of Tucson, AZ, Nathan Roberts of Hillsboro, TN, John Randall Roberts of Manchester, TN and Darlene Stewart also of Manchester, TN and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six brothers and sisters, U.G. Bennett of Rock Island, TN, Howard Bennett of Manchester, TN, William Bennett of Hillsboro, TN, Leonard Bennett of Manchester, TN, Myrtle Bennett Richie of Manchester, TN, and Betty Bennett Hale of Chattanooga, TN, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

3/17/15 —- Brad Anthony McCollough

Brad Anthony McCollough, age 43 of McMinnville, Tennessee, passed away on March 14, 2015 at the St. Thomas-Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.

Brad was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and will be remembered as a wonderful son, husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ladd and Alvine McCollough; maternal grandparents, Jim and Kate Jones; and father-in-law, Stephen Garner.

Brad is survived by his wife, Christina Marie Garner McCollough of McMinnville, TN; parents, Orville McCollough and Betty Joyce Jones McCollough of Manchester, TN; son, Robert A. McCollough and his wife Michele of McMinnville; daughter, Amber L. McCollough of McMinnville, TN; brother, Orville McCollough (Nicole); nephews, Cole McCollough and Tyler Sircy; nieces, Luci Kate McCollough and Aleia Garner; and many friends.

3/21/15 — James W. Whitt

Mr. James W. Whitt, age 83 of Tullahoma, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 21 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Murdock officiating.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, March 21 from 12:00 PM until the service time.

Mr. Whitt, a native of Mt. Sterling, KY was the son of the late John Kelly and Lutie Reed Whitt.

He graduated from Mt. Sterling High School where he was a very active student, playing on the football team and being President of his senior class. During High School he wrote a poem titled, “Rain”, which was nationally published. He was a U S Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career working for Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach, FL. In the fall of 1962, he and his wife, Faye and their young daughter, Stacye relocated to Tullahoma, where he began work at AERO/Sverdrup. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and served as President of IEEE from 1978-1979. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Tullahoma.

Mr. Whitt enjoyed many hobbies and activities. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing tennis, sailing, swimming and diving. He also loved to read and research a variety of topics. He had a special interest in astronomy. Many people will remember meeting and visiting with Mr. Whitt at his wife’s restaurant, “The Stuffed Goose” in Tullahoma. He would come every day and help with the closing duties.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Anne Chatman Whitt; five brothers, Otto Vernon Whitt, Earl Gray Whitt, Paul Whitt, John Kelly Whitt Jr. and Charles Calvin Whitt and two sisters, Earsel Powell and Una Whitt.

Mr. Whitt is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Faye Brown Whitt of Tullahoma; son, Andrew Clay Whitt and his wife, Aimee of Tullahoma; daughter, Stacye Reed Clark and her husband, Michael of Brentwood; five grandchildren, Spencer Conley Clark and his wife, Kayela of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Rachael Elizabeth Clark of Brentwood and Elizabeth Clay Whitt, Caroline Rowan Whitt and Sarah Wallace Hyde Whitt, all of Tullahoma; two great grandchildren, Charles Henry Clark and Katherine Lovell Clark and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
