9/11/15 —- Shirley Paulette Baker

Shirley Paulette Baker, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday, September 6th, 2015 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville at the age of 66.

Mrs. Baker was born in Bedford County, Tennessee to the late Alton E. and Stella Mae McAdams McEwin.

She was formerly employed with Worth where she was a ball sewer and also worked in the bat factory.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baker is preceded in death by one daughter, Deserie Baker; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Prince; two grandchildren, Monica Rollins and Ashley Baker; and one great-granddaughter, Leah Hill.

She is survived by her husband, James H. Baker Sr. of Tullahoma; two daughters, Crystal Rollins and her husband Willie of Tullahoma, and Kasandra Rowlett and her husband Bobby of Tullahoma; four sons, James Baker Jr. and his wife Vickie of Normandy, Mickeal Baker of Tullahoma, Jeffery Baker of Tullahoma, and Bradley Baker and his wife Toni of Tullahoma; three brothers, Charles, Ricky, and Ronnie McEwin; grandchildren, Jessica and Shelby Rollins, Christopher Baker, Caitlin Rowlett, Jamie Sue Hall, Amber Pierce, Natasha Hill, and Joshua Hill; and seven great-grandchildren, Lexus, Harley, Jaden, Jesse, Jayden, Raiden, and Kason.

Visitation for Mrs. Baker will be held on Thursday, September 10th, 2015 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 pm. flower 18

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11th, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bobby Watkins officiating.

Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.

9/10/15 — Loyd Smith Jr.

Mr. Loyd Smith Jr., age 89, passed away Sunday evening at Life Care Center in Tullahoma.

He was born in Franklin County in the Belvedere Community to the late Loyd and Mattie Smith. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Roy, Bob and Jack and six sisters, Mildred, Frances, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Madeline and Robbie.

Mr. Smith was retired from Wilson Sporting Goods and was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He was also a member of the Hoover’s Grove Church of Christ where he served as an elder.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia P. Smith of Tullahoma, daughters, Marilyn (Clayton) Knight of Lynchburg, Sharon (David) Rolman of Tullahoma, a son, Timothy (Lisa) Smith of Brentwood, TN, grandchildren, Jamie Knight, Jeremy Knight, Richie Rolman, Angie Adams, Katelyn Smith and Hayley Waldron, five great grandchildren, sisters, Peggy Rowe of Estill Springs, Evelyn Moredock of Nashville.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday at Hoover’s Grove Church of Christ with Bro. Frank Ford and Bro. Jim Sanders officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hoover’s Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 till 7:00 PM, Wednesday evening at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Mr. William “Bill” Hickerson 77,  of Tullahoma passed Friday, September 4, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by two daughters,  Lutricia Diane Hickerson of Nashville and Merideth Hickerson of Tullahoma, TN.

9/10/15 —– Bernell Shaw Musso

Bernell Shaw Musso, age 92 of Sterrett, Alabama passed away, Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Life Care Center of Tullahoma.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 1 PM at the Bolton Funeral Home in Columbiana, AL with burial to follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, September 9, from 5 – 7 PM and Thursday, September 10 from 11 AM until the service time at Bolton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Musso, a native of Sterrett, AL was the daughter of the late Walter Eugene and Minnie Isabell Shaw.

She enjoyed flower gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, reading and cooking. She was also a talented seamstress. She attended Pleasant Site flower4Baptist Church in Sterret, AL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Musso; one brother, Houston Shaw Sr and one sister, Lorene Beddington.

She is survived by one son, Jimmy Musso of Chelsea, AL; one daughter, Sandra Seale and her husband, Jerry of Lynchburg, TN; two brothers, John Shaw and his wife, Genice of Birmingham, AL and Jack Shaw and his wife, Minnie Lee of Chelsea, AL; three sisters, Louise Harris of Birmingham, Jo Ann Holcomb of Chelsea, AL and Dot Buckley of Detroit, MI; two sister-in-laws, Virginia Musso Guarino of Bessemer, AL and Chuck Musso of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, Reana Musso of Covington, LA, Jake Musso of Chelsea, AL, Jamie Musso of Clay, AL and J J Musso of Clay, AL and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ruth Whittaker, age 90 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away, Friday, September 4, 2015 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8 at 1 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pat Allison officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 11 AM until the service time.

Mrs. Whittaker, a native of Cullman, AL was the daughter of the late Horace G. and Ethel Simms Tidwell.

She was a Cafeteria Manager. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Cedar Lane. She loved to cook and bake for people and many people remember her for all the wedding and birthday cakes she baked thru the years. She enjoyed flower 22gardening, reading and sewing. She also loved her family dearly and doted on her grandchildren.

In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Omar Whittaker; two sons, Gerald David Whittaker and Kenneth Wayne Whittaker; two brothers, Glenn and Jimmy Tidwell and four sisters, Wynelle Middleton, Nancy Horton, Dorothy England and Patricia McGuire.

She is survived by four daughters, Cathy Whittaker of Tullahoma, Susan Whittaker Watson and her husband, George of Tullahoma, Lynn Whittaker Woosley and her husband, Tom of Powder Springs, GA and Kim Whittaker Cooper of Lynchburg; two sisters, Betty Giardini and her husband, Bill of Huntsville, AL and Helen Lowery of Lawrenceburg, TN; four grandchildren, Taylor Winton and her husband, Ryan, Hannah Woosley of Austin, TX, Rachel Woosley of Powder Springs, GA and George Whittaker Watson of Tullahoma and one great grandchild, Sydney Winton,

Bettye C. Brasier passed away Wednesday, Sept 2, 2015 at her residence in Tullahoma at the age of 82.

Private services were held.

A native of Tullahoma, she was the daughter of the late Main and Daisy Sawyer Campbell.

She retired from Goodyear where she was a Credit Manager. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tullahoma and enjoyed reading and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J W Brasier and one sister, Ann Killie.

She is survived by one son, James Steven Brasier and his wife, Gena of Tullahoma; two daughters, Sharon Bottorff and her husband, Ron of Franklin and Terry Summers and her husband, Don of Iron Mountain, MI; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

9/8/15 — Lewis E. (Phil) Phillips

Mr. Lewis E. (Phil) Phillips, age 84, of Tullahoma, passed away Monday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He was born in Hillsboro to the late Vernon and Fannie Stubblefield Phillips. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Clyde and Jerry Phillips, a son in law, Jon Ratliff.

Mr. Phillips was a machinist at A.E.D.C for 42 years, a passionate animal lover, enjoyed gold prospecting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Phillips, sons, Thomas (Jan) Phillips, Timmy Phillips, daughter, Suzette Ratliff, grand children Catherine and Amanda Phillips, Christopher and Nicholas Ratliff, sister in law, Barbara Phillips, several nieces and nephews, friends, Bobby Felts and Wayne Burton.flower 16

Funeral services for Ms. Marguerite (Dolores) Wellman, age 88, of Manchester, TN, will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday evening at the funeral home.

Dolores was peacefully ushered in the blessings of her Savior on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma, TN.

Dolores was born in Lucasville, OH, the daughter of the late Luther and Jettie Moore Martin.

She worked a short time for the Navy Department during World War II in Washington DC following High School and later retired from Timken Company out of Canton, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was also preceded in death by three brothers, William, Robert, and Gerald; and one sister, Rhea.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Jim) Wight of Wilmington, NC; niece, Teresa (Jim) Fleenor; nephew, Mike (Becky) Wellman, along with other nieces and nephews. Dolores cherished her faith, the love and kinship of her special friends, Jo Ann, Carole, Evelyn, and Tammy, along with her church Sunday School Class members and her extended family of Trinity Baptist Church in Manchester.

9/9/15 —- Charles Austin Spaulding

Mr. Charles Austin Spaulding, age 80 of Manchester, Tennessee passed from this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Spaulding was preceded in death by his parents, Burke and Margaret Spaulding, and one great grandson, Ryan Spaulding.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Jean Spaulding, one daughter, Geneva Miller and husband Greg of Manchester, Tennessee, two sons, Layne Spaulding and wife Donna of Manchester, Tennessee, Chuck Spaulding of Manchester, Tennessee, one sister, Mary Lillian Thomason and husband Frank of Monroe, Georgia, one brother Billy Spaulding of Antioch, Tennessee, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Spaulding was a member of the First Baptist Church in Manchester, Tennessee for over fifty years. Mr. Spaulding was the owner and operator of the Spaulding Milling Company for many years. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed baseball, football, and wood working. Mr. Spaulding was a diehard Vandy fan and he liked to take in a game of pool. He exercised daily and enjoyed walking. His faith and his family were his life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial Services for Mr. Charles Austin Spaulding will be conducted on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating.

Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel from 12 Noon until the time of the service.

Funeral services for Mr. James Murry Sain, Jr., age 63, of Hillsboro, will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Marcrom officiating.

Jimmy passed away Wednesday afternoon at Unity Medical Center in Manchester.

Jimmy was born in McMinnville, TN, the son of the late James M. and Alma Louise Mayo Sain.

He was an Administrative Supervisor for Tennessee Department of Corrections. He farmed in Hillsboro for many years, was a member of the Coffee County School Board for 12 years, and served on the Hillsboro Homecoming Association for over 20 years. Jimmy made an unselfish gift of tissue donation continuing to be the giving person he was in death, as he was in life.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was also preceded in death by his first wife, Debbie Ashby Sain.

He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Pamela Mayberry Sain of Hillsboro; four daughters, Brittany Sain Stiles and husband, Lee of Doyle, TN, Whitney Stacy Howard and husband, Lee of Hillsboro, Ashley Sullivan Stevens and her husband, Mark of Lynchburg, and Candace Sullivan Franks and her husband, Kacey of Winston, GA; one brother, Dr. David Sain of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren, Sawyer Wesley Stiles, Gunnar Blaine Howard, Savannah Stevens, Delaney Stevens, Boone Franks, and Huck Franks; his four-legged kids, Choo Choo, Bella, Beardog, and Rosie, and Willie; and his great grand dog, Stuffy.
