12/07/15 — Mavis King Carter

mavisMavis King Carter, age 91 of Tullahoma formerly of Waverly, TN, passed away Friday December 4, 2015 at Lynchburg Nursing Center. Mavis was the owner of Carter’s Daycare and was a great mother and loved her family very much. She is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Catherine Baker King; husband Joseph M. Carter Jr.; brothers Luther Carroll King, Sandy King, Connely King and Henson King
She is survived by her children Catherine (Terrell Spence) Carter, Carol (Eddie) Ivey, Joseph M. (Dona Patton) Carter III and Candace (John) Osteen; six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday December 6, 2015 from 5-7pm at Tullahoma Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday December 7, 2015 at 10:30am at Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel. The committal will follow at Hurricane Cemetery Lynchburg, TN

12/05/15 — Latrisha Mae Eddie Horton

hortonLatrisha Mae Eddie Horton, age 68, of Lynchburg passed away on Wednesday,
December 2, 2015 at her residence. Funeral Services will be conducted on
Saturday, December 5 at 1 PM at the Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
Carl Tucker officiating. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from
11 AM until the service time of 1 PM. Burial will follow on Sunday,
December 6 at 11 AM at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Paragould, Arkansas.

Mrs. Horton was the daughter of the late W. C. and Leatha Elizabeth Jarrett
Miller. She was a Quality Control Inspector and retired from ICP in
Lewisburg. She was also a Hairdresser. She was a member of the Estill
Springs Crossroad Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed studying the Bible.
She
taught Sunday school and was very active in her church. She was a loving
mother who enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson,
Dewayne Eddie Nichols.

Mrs. Horton is survived by three daughters, Shirley Mae Chapman of
Lynchburg, Sandy Cornelison and her husband, Billy of Shelbyville and
Sherri Fox and her husband, Robert of Lynchburg; one brother, Clint Miller
and his wife, Rhonda of Holiday Island, Arkansas; seven grandchildren,
Larry Neal Nichols, Jr. and his wife, Amber, Pamela Kaye Allen, Jessica
Denise Moyer, Jonathan Loyd Moyer, Hope Fox, Loyd Fox and Britany Fox and
seven great grandchildren.

12/5/2015-Doris Virginia Almond Stewart “Betty Stewart”

Mrs. Doris Virginia Almond Stewart “Betty Stewart”,
age 89 of Chapel Hill, Tennessee passed from this life on Tuesday,
December 1,
2015 surrounded by her loving family. 
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her late husband, Jimmy Stewart,
parents, Jerome and Mary Almond, three sisters, Martha Almond Langford, Jean
Almond Givens Langford, Robby Almond Moss, and three brothers, George
Almond,
Jack Almond, and Sonny Almond.  

 

She is survived by two daughters, Leigh Hill of Chapel
Hill, Tennessee, Robby Stewart Joyce and husband Jerry of Chapel Hill,
Tennessee,
two grandsons, Bart Joyce and wife Amy of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, Clayton
Joyce
and wife Bequi of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, one great grandson Gillen Joyce
and
several nieces, and nephews also survive.

 

Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Trinity Baptist
Church in Manchester, Tennessee for over thirty years.  She was a devoted
wife and Christian.  Mrs. Stewart helped start the Banner Ministry at
Trinity Baptist Church.  Cross stitching
was her passion.  She enjoyed spending
time with her grandchildren, reading, and entertaining.  Mrs. Betty had a
quick wit and was a precious
friend to many.  She will be dearly
missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty Stewart will be
conducted on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 12 Noon at Trinity Baptist
Church,
Manchester, Tennessee with Brother Kerry Walker, Pastor Scott Parkison, and
Pastor Cliff Vines officiating.  Burial
will follow in the Swanson Cemetery, Chapel Hill, Tennessee.  Visitation
will be held on Friday, December
4, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel,
Manchester, Tennessee.  

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations

12/4/2015-Sharlotte Jo Smith

Sharlotte Jo Smith, age 58 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away, Tuesday,
December 1, 2015. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, December 4 at
2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Maplewood
Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Friday, December 4 from 12 PM
– 2 PM.

A native of Tullahoma she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Frances
Riddle Mathis.  She enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren and
going shopping.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David
Smith and one brother, Ricky Mathis.

She is survived by two daughters, Evie Smith and Tabitha Cazzell, both of
Tullahoma; two brothers, Eddie Mathis of Winchester Springs and Floyd
Mathis and his wife, Penny of Winchester; one sister, Wanda Painter and her
husband, Larry of Winchester Springs and four grandchildren, Mark Steele of
Chicago, Brianna Cazzell of Tullahoma, Robert Cazzell of Tullahoma and John
Fischer III of Tullahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the

James ‘Jim’ T. Enos, age 83 of Tullahoma, passed away Friday November 27, 2015 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma.

Jim was a United Sates Navy Veteran and was retired from the Manchester City

School System.

He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Jimmie Enos.

He is survived by many family members and a host of friends.

 

There will be a memorial service held Saturday December 12, 2015 at 10:00am St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

12-03-2015 Fletcher Slatton

Funeral services for Mr. Fletcher Slatton, age 82 of Nashville

 will be conducted Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM at

 Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Larry Floyd, pastor

 of Una Baptist Church in Nashville, TN officiating. 

 Interment will follow at Ivy Bluff Cemetery in Cannon County, TN.

  Visitation will be held Thursday from 12:00 Noon until tim of services at 2:00 PM.  Mr. Slatton passed away Monday

, November 30, 2015 at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, TN 

after a strong and courageous journey.  

 

Mr. Slatton was born March 1, 1933 in Warren County, Tennessee

 the son of the late Dewey Slatton and Willie Sanders Slatton.

  He served in the United States Army from May 1953 until his

 honorable discharge May 1955.  Mr. Slatton retired from

 St. Thomas Hospital after 15 years of service in the accounting field.

  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved the game of golf and

 enjoyed quail hunting and fishing.

  He was known by family and friends to be a passionate UT Football fan

 who also enjoyed watching the NFL games

.  In earlier years after his retirement, he and his loving wife, Peggy

 spent time traveling together to various destinations such

 as Florida and wonderful adventures out west.

 He was a member of Una Baptist Church in Nashville since 1998.

 Mr. Slatton will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, 

Felicia Slatton Marshall, a sister, Ruth Veech, and three brothers

, Grey Slatton, Jack Slatton and Billy Slatton.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Peggy M. Duke Slatton

 of Nashville, TN; two sons, Garry Slatton of Cookeville, TN

 and Tony Slatton of LaVergne, TN and a step-son, Dennis Traughber of Nashville, TN;  and one grandson

, Michael Marshall.  Also surviving is a sister, Patsy Austin of McMinnville, TN

  and a brother, Jim Slatton and wife, June of McMinnville, TN.

A native of Monticello, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late
Marvin and Louise Malone Lumbley. She was a member of the Decherd
Christian Center. She loved children and enjoyed babysitting and spending
time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Melvin McGill.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Spivey of Wartrace and Damon Phillips of
McGehee, AR; two daughters, Charlotte Winchester and her husband, Danny of
Rohwer, AR and Patsy McDaniels and her husband, Timmy of Wartrace; two
brothers, James Lumbley of Normandy and Billy Wayne Lumbley and his wife,
Peggy of Manchester; three sisters, Gerri McKinney and her husband, Walt of
Hillsboro, Ruby Lumbley of Normandy and Del Breedlove of Manchester; nine
grandchildren, Chase Spivey, Trey Winchester, Chris Spivey, Austin Ivie,
Alex McDaniels, Ashley McDaniels, Colton Spivey, Austin Star Phillips and
T.J. McDaniels and one great grandchild, Landon Spivey.

flower 7Funeral services for Miss Christine Anderson, age 91, of Beechgrove, TN,
will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Noah’s Fork
Baptist Church in Beechgrove. Burial will follow in Farrar Hill
Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM
on Wednesday, December 2 at Manchester Funeral Home. Miss Anderson
passed away Tuesday morning at her niece’s residence in Beechgrove.

Christine was born in Beechgrove, TN, the daughter of the late Horace and
Bessie Harmon Anderson. She was a homemaker and a caregiver. Christine
was a member of Noah’s Fork Baptist Church, where she loved worshiping
her Lord.

In addition to her parents, Christine was also preceded in death by two
brothers, Bennett and Claude Anderson; and one sister, Annie Ruth Trail.
She is survived by one brother, Nolan Anderson of Beechgrove; her niece
and nephew, whom she raised, Annice (Bart) Clemons and Adam (Kimberley)
Trail, both of Beechgrove; nephews, Leon Anderson, Ronnie Anderson, Tony
Anderson, and Horace Lee Anderson; nieces, Evelyn Shultz, Maggalyn
Carter, Mary Ellen Majors, Sarah Felts, Anita Alford, and Kathy Roberts;
and several great nieces and nephews.

G. Rigney of Manchester, Tenn., R. Ethan Rigney, Jessica Still (Darrell),
Kayla E. Howard all of Manchester, Tenn, and Trevor S. Howard (Cayla
Spraggins) of Smyrna, Tenn.; parents, Aaron Monroe RIgney and Vicky
Ginger Rogers Rigney of Manchester, Tenn.; sister, Beth McCoy of
Manchester, Tenn.: brother, Aaron, M. Rigney (Jennifer Rigney of
Manchester, Tenn.; grandchildren, Emma Still and Easton Still of
Manchester, Tenn,; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation,

12/02/2015-James Doyle Nelson

Mr. James Doyle Nelson, age 24, of Tullahoma, TN, passed away at his
residence on Saturday, November 28, 2015. Visitation with the family
will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at
Manchester Funeral Home.

James was born in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Robert Nelson of
Manchester, TN and Teresa D. Hall of Booneville, AR. He served his
country in the United States Marine Corps and was employed as an
ironworker for Gilley Construction.

James was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Doyle Hall and
his paternal grandfather, Bob Nelson.

In addition to his parents, James is also survived by one son, Owen
Robert Nelson; one daughter, Ava Grace Nelson; the mother of his
children, Tiffany Nelson; two sisters, Kelsea Dianne Nelson and Kascey
Summers of Jerusalem, AR; his paternal grandmother, Katherine Nelson of
Manchester; his maternal grandmother, Elaine Hall of Mansfield, AR; three
aunts, Tyna Martin, Kem Ross, and Kristin Rondolet.
