12/14/15 — Joe Wayne McElderry

flower27Funeral services for Mr. Joe Wayne McElderry age 73 of Manchester will be
conducted at 2:00pm, Monday, December 14 at the Manchester Funeral Home
Chapel with Bro. Danny Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the
Hurricane Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the McElderry family will be
from 12 Noon until service time Monday at the funeral home. Mr.
McElderry passed this life Saturday at the St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital
in Murfreesboro.

Mr. McElderry was born in Elora, Tennessee and was a home builder. He
also was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church. In addition to
his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Alton McElderry
and by 2 sisters, Ethel and Mildred. Joe is survived by:

One daughter- Lisa (Jason) Osborn of Murfreesboro
One son- Michael McElderry of Manchester
One brother- Ralph McElderry of North Carolina
Three grandchildren

December 10, 2015 at the Nashville Veterans Hospital. Visitation with the
family will be Thursday, December 17 from 6 PM till 7 PM with a Celebration
of Life Service at 7 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, December 18 at 1 PM at the
Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN.

A native of Bedford County, He was the son of the late Jerry and Mamie
Cooper Rippy. He was a graduate of Tullahoma High School and had served in
the U S Navy. He enjoyed listening to music, fishing and working in his
yard. He also enjoyed playing with his pet Pomapoo, Lucky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry
Rippy and two sisters, Diana Young and Irma Rippy.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Enna Anikwe of Antioch; two sisters,
Sarah Stovall and her husband, George of Estill Springs and Mary Emma Rippy
of Manchester and a special ‘Lil’ friend, Ayrie Roper.

flower 24Frances Darlene Frazier, of Normandy, passed this life on Monday,
December 7th, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville
at the age of 63. Mrs. Frazier was born in Coffee County to the late
Elwood and Mary McClure Rollins. She was a member of Canaan Baptist
Church in Tullahoma. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Frazier was
preceded in death by one son, Jeremy Chad Frazier; two brothers, Carl
Rollins and Junior Rollins; and one sister, Vivian Rollins. She is
survived by her husband Hershel “Buck” Frazier of Normandy; two sons,
Scott Frazier of Normandy and Tracy Frazier of Normandy; one daughter,
Valerie Baker of Tullahoma; one brother, Ronnie Rollins and his wife
Brenda of Normandy; three grandchildren, Bethany Baker, Nathan Baker and
Shelden Frazier; and one great-grandchild, Jaxon Baker. Visitation for
Mrs. Frazier will be held on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015 at Kilgore
Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday,
December 10th, 2015 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with
Bro. Brian Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Bomar Cemetery in
the Raus Community.

12/12/15 — Kathryn Elizabeth Wertzbaugher

wertzKathryn Elizabeth Wertzbaugher, age 95, passed away, Sunday, December 6,
2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma, TN. Funeral Services
are scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 2 PM at
Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home in Akron, Ohio with burial to follow at
East Akron Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1 PM until
service time. No local services are scheduled.

A native of Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Edna
Faye Broughton Ringer. Mrs. Wertzbaugher relocated to Tullahoma to be near
her daughter. She was a staunch Republican and very active in the GOP for
over fifty years. She was the first female city councilwoman in Akron in
1957. She was a precinct committeewoman, member of the Ohio Council of
Republican Women and a member of the Republican Executive Committee. She
was also a member of the Akron Civic Theater Women’s Guild and a member of
Firestone Park Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John
Wertzbaugher and one brother, John B. Ringer Jr.

She is survived by one daughter, Janice Rayburn and her husband, John of
Tullahoma; three grandchildren, Todd Rayburn and his wife, Kelly of Lake
Minneola, FL, Jonathon Rayburn and his wife, Christina of Tampa, FL and Amy
Creasman and her husband, Pat of Longwood, FL and eight great
grandchildren, Tucker and Tanner Rayburn, Devin Uphoff, Jade and Jeremy
Rayburn, Dalton and Dillon DeChristopher and Patrick Creasman Jr.

flower 9Mr. Ricky Jo Floyd of Tullahoma, age 57, passed away Sunday, December 6,
2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma. Services will be
Wednesday, December 9 at 2:00 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home
Chapel with burial to follow at Concord Cemetery. Visitation with the
family will be Wednesday from 12:00 PM until time of service.

A native of Winchester, he was the son of George and Lois Bass Floyd of
Decherd. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School and a member of
the Lighthouse Church in Shelbyville. He enjoyed completing woodworking
projects, cooking and gardening.

Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by one brother, Tracy Floyd.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Jami Fuller
and her husband, Ryan of Estill Springs; one son, Jody Floyd of Huntland;
one brother, David Floyd of Winchester; a special cousin, Diane Baker and
her husband, Doyle of Lynchburg; ex-wives, Cathy Sullenger Floyd of
Huntland and Debbie Kennedy of Tullahoma; step daughters, Angie Elder and
Sandy Baker both of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Justin Reeves, Libbie
Elder and Kaleb Clark and one great grandchild, Elijah Reeves.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the
memorial fund at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

December 5, 3015 at the St. Thomas- West Hospital in Nashville. He was a
a retired quality inspector with the Whirlpool Corporation in Lavergne,
Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. White and
Francis Rebecca Sanders White; sisters, Mary Francis Gant and Marilyn
Waltman. Survived by his loving wife, Doris J. White, of Manchester;
children; Bob G.(Rhonda) White, of Manchester, Monica L. Hall, of Cisco,
Illinois, and Debbie J. McGilvrey (Jerry), of Paris, Illinois;
grandchildren, Jennifer (Johnny ) of Hollywood, California, Stephanie
White (Lee), of Manchester, Joe White, of Manchester, Dustin White
(Whitney), of Tullahoma, Joshua White, of Hermitage, Tennessee, Jessica

Sherry Byers Hoffman

flower 23Mrs. Sherry Byers Hoffman, age 53, of Manchester, TN., passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Unity Medical Center in Manchester, TN. She was the daughter of the late little Bill Byers and Helen Byers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her wonderful late husband J.C. Hoffman, her daughter Crystal Gayle Layne, and her sister Jerri Nunley Byers.

Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her sons Michael Dwight Layne, Bobby Michael Layne, Jr., Stoney Dustin Hoffman, and Nathan Keith Layne, grandchildren Shelby, MaKayla, Jaggar, John Henry, and Jade Layne, brothers Larry “Bones” Byers, Billy “Bump” Byers, and Terry “T” Byers, and sister Mary “Boog” Byers Arnold.

Mrs. Hoffman passed away peacefully with her son Dwight Layne, daughter-in-law Hollie Layne, grandchildren MaKayla and Jaggar Layne, and her spiritual sister Deb Anderson, at her bedside.

No services are planned at this time. The family will have a graveside memorial service at a later date.

boylanFuneral services for Mrs. Velma Jean Boylan, age 72 of Manchester will be conducted Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Brandon Stutts officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Boylan passed away surrounded by her loving family Friday, December 4, 2015 at her residence.

She was born March 26, 1943 in Kalamazoo, Michigan the daughter of the late Arlington Guernsey and Mary Hearld Guernsey. Velma met her husband of 55 years, George W. Boylan in 1960. They have raised a family of 5 children, Roger Boylan and wife Debbie of Manchester, William Boylan and wife, Tina of Hillsboro, Frederic Boylan (Deceased) and Paula Butcher of Manchester and Kristine Yates and husband, Rocky of Belvidere, TN.

Velma enjoyed music, bingo laughing and joking with family and friends. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was a loving homemaker and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Plunkett and Dawn Lewis.

In addition to her loving husband, George Boylan of Manchester and her five children, she is survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and a brother, Michael E. Guernsey of Parchment, Michigan and a sister, Patricia Ann Shelton of Murfreesboro, TN.

kellyMr. James “Roger” Kelly, age 58 of Manchester passed away Friday, December 4 2015 at Unity Medical Center in Manchester, Tennessee. Funeral services are schedule for Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Monday, December 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.
A native of Corbin, Kentucky, he was of the Baptist Faith. He like to cook, fish and loved the water, fast cars and animals. Roger was very musical and a proud truck driver. He was “the strong one of the family and life of the party”.
Roger was preceded in death by his father James Arthur Kelly and one nephew, Ricky Wayne Aldridge. He is survived by his son Ricky James Kelly of Tullahoma; his mother Wilma Newton of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; two sisters, Diane Kelly of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and Brenda Aldridge and husband Wayne of Memphis, Tennessee; nieces Jackie Hill of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and Rhonda Stus of Memphis, Tennessee; 5 great nieces and nephews and 1 great great niece and special family member, Carolyn Crawford of Tullahoma, Tennessee.

12/08/15 — James Ralph Reeves, Jr.

reevesFuneral services for Mr. James Ralph “ Jim” Reeves, Jr., age 84 of Manchester will be conducted Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church in Manchester with Dr. Scott Parkison and Dr. Kerry Walker officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens, 3042 Hwy 41, Jasper, TN 37347 with military honors. Visitation will be held Monday, December 7, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Mr. Reeves departed from this life for his heavenly home Friday, December 4, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 12, 1931, in Guild, TN the son of the late James Ralph Reeves, Sr., and Sadie Morgan Reeves.  He grew up in the Haletown community and graduated high school in nearby Jasper where he was an athlete lettering in four sports.  Also, Jim earned two Golden Gloves Boxing awards by being undefeated in the ring in the Chattanooga region.  He joined the United States Navy in March 1951 and was honorably discharged in February 1955 with the rank of Aviation Electronics Tech Second Class, USN-1.  He married his high school sweet heart, the girl of his dreams, Peggy Jane Tate, during his first leave home from the service.  After moving to Manchester, with the help of friends and colleagues, Jim went to MTSU full time while working full time at AEDC, earning an engineering degree.  Jim retired from AEDC as a senior engineer after 38 years of service in February 1993.  He was a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in many other dedicated positions through the years.  Jim felt that service to the Lord should come first in one’s life and he led by example.  An avid football fan, he also loved listening to gospel music and encouraging those who made it, fishing and playing pool with his friends.  Jim touched many lives through the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Lee Reeves, a grandson, James Ralph Reeves, IV, and four sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Peggy Tate Reeves; three children, Gaylynn Cheatham and husband, David, James Ralph “Jay” Reeves, III and wife, Delilah, and Penny Howe and husband, Page; seven grandchildren, Amber Sanchez (Rob), Joshua Warren (Andrea), James Warren, Alisha Rader (Brett), John Morgan Reeves, Jania Howe and Julie Howe; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
