3/19/17 — William Frank Johnson

William Frank (Bill) Johnson, 87 of Manchester TN, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2017. Bill is survived by two daughters, Johanna (Jim) Hutto of Gulf Shores, Alabama and Jessica (Matt) Towey of Alabaster, Alabama, Four Granddaughters, Nicole (Brody), Meghan, and Nashley Hutto, and Paley Towey, One Grandson, Matthew D. (Rachel) Towey, Three Great-Granddaughters, Adelynn Towey, Baylor and Gracie Olive and Three Great-Grandsons, Andrew Waite, Collin Moser, and Brody Towey. Pastors Neal Glass and Randy Brown will be presiding with Pallbearers; Brody Olive, Craig Hafer, Brent Parsley, Ulan Fisher, Mike Jackson, and Xavier Solis, Honorary Pallbearers; Tom Cook, Richard Dix, Judge Jerry Ewell, Ted Hackney, Coolidge Holt, Ken Kimball, Dr. Jesse Overall, Jerry Reid, Dr. Charles Rogers, Dr. Ben Spaulding, and Ed Turner. Bill was born on May 28, 1929 in Rossville, Ga., to Paul and Mabel Johnson. Mabel succumbed to leukemia in 1937 with his father remarrying shortly thereafter to Ettie Green. Bill graduated Rossville H.S. in 1948 and the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Pharmacy. He then began his 2 year enlistment in the Army during the Korean War, after which he located in Tullahoma, TN, and began work as a civilian at Queen City Pharmacy. He moved to Manchester in 1959 and opened Medical Center Pharmacy and partnered in Baker Brothers Drug Store for 25 years, after which he bought and operated the Pharmacy at Coffee Medical Center. In 2005, Bill retired and worked part time for Baker Brothers. Bill was married to Rita Biddle for 27 years and had 2 daughters, Johanna and Jessica. He married Sibbie Brixey Duke in 1976 and remained married to her until her death in 2015. Bill was an active member at First United Methodist in Manchester since 1959 serving as an usher, trustee and stewardship committee member. He was also a member of the Jaycees, the Exchange Club, the TN Pharmacy Association, The Manchester Rotary (where he served as President), the Manchester Industrial Board (where he served as Chairman). He was active in recruiting new businesses to Manchester and Coffee County and was vital in the establishment of the Joint Industrial Park. The family would like to thank Bill’s caregivers during his final days; Dee, Drea, Bethany, Sandra, Lisa and Rachel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Manchester or to Boys Town.

3/15/17–Larry Andrew Dohanos

Larry Andrew Dohanos, age 72, of Manchester, TN, passed away on Tuesday,
March 14, 2017 at Unity Medical Center in Manchester, TN. No services
are planned at this time.

Larry was born in Fremont, OH, the son of the late Andrew and Norma
Bechberger Dohanos. He was of Hungarian origin and was a
welder/fabricator for Transcor America. Larry enjoyed working on old
cars, walking his dog, talking on the CB radio with friends, visiting
with neighbors, and most importantly, spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Larry was also preceded in death by one
sister, Jeanne Pogorzelski. He is survived by his loving wife of 52
years, Eloise Dohanos; two sons, Terry (Esther) Dohanos of Smyrna, TN and
Larry (Natalie) Dohanos, Jr. of Gallatin, TN; one brother, Jerry (Carol)
Dohanos; one sister, Sandy Sorg; three grandchildren, Sierra, Juan and
Max; nieces, Kathy Miller, Cheryl Sorg and Michelle Sorg; and nephew,
Eric Sorg.

3/15/17–Jimmy Jones

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Jones, age 65 of Manchester, will be at 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Manchester Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ragsdale Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4 – 8 PM on Tuesday, March 14th and prior to service time on Wednesday. Mr. Jones passed away on Saturday, March 11 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Jimmy was born on September 9, 1951, the son of the late Homer Jackson and Birdie Cornelison Jones, in Coffee County. He was a retired truck driver for Batesville Casket Co. He loved hunting and watching drag racing.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by four brothers, Leighton, Gladus, R.L., and Roy Jones and one sister, Loretta Cornelison Warren.
Jimmy is survived by his “special companion” of 15 years, Diane Lowery Brandon of Manchester; three daughters, Lisa Crouch of Murfreesboro, Sharon Kapise (Barry) of Manchester, and Sherry May of Manchester; two sons, Joey Brandon of Tullahoma, and Michael Brandon (Wendy) of Antioch; one brother, Ray Jones (Lisa); two sisters, Joyce Thompson and Josie Baker (Meredith) both of Manchester; 13 grandchildren, Dalton and Mekala Crouch, Cody and Brittany Owens, Zachary Cox, Maggie May, Alesha Thompson, Amanda, Tammie, Jonathan, Matthew Kapise, Dustin Darnell, and Benjamin Brandon; 11 great- grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Zaiden Blaze St. John, age 6 weeks and 6 days, will be conducted on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Reverend Danny Anderson officiating. A balloon release will follow. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Zaiden passed away tragically on Wednesday, March 8, 2017.

Zaiden was the infant son of parents, Aaron “A.J.” St. John and Whitney Swearington. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Billy Joe Jernigan; great-grandmother, Bonnie Lynn Pogue; special friend, Sylvester Norman. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Maddoxx Joe St. John; great-grandmother, Carolyn Jernigan; great-grandfather, Michael Pogue; grandmother, Dawn Jernigan (Warren Seay); grandparents, Jason Swearington (Crystal), Troy Randolph (Leslile); great-uncle, Travis Swearington; great-aunts, Shannon Hill (Jeff Nunley), Debra Jennings, Lori Newsom (Tony); uncles, Wade Swearington, Trey Ramsey, Andrew Swearington, Caleb Swearington, Brandon Hill, Taylor Swearington; aunt, Kayla Welsh; a host of special cousins and friends.

Graveside Services for Ms. Jewel Dean Ray, age 86, of Manchester, Tennessee, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Summitville Cemetery with Reverend James Butler and Reverend Barry Phelps. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Manchester Funeral Home. Ms. Ray passed away on March 10, 2017 at NHC in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Jewel Ray was born in Coffee County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William Edmond Blackburn and Elma Glenn. She was an active member of Summitville United Methodist Church. She always enjoyed listening to gospel music. Jewel will always be remembered for her love for her family.

In addition to her parents, Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Ray; brother, W. E. Blackburn; sister, Mary Phelps. She is survived by her son, Glenn Ray (Samantha Day); sister, Nell McBryar; two special nieces, Marsha Baskin and Karen Edens; other nieces.

3/12/17 — Jo Ann Hickerson Biddix

Mrs. Jo Ann Hickerson Biddix, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 08, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born on January 28, 1935, in Coffee County. She was the daughter of the late Joe Hickerson and Lela Gore Hickerson. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Johnnie Keele (Leighton) and Catherine Meredith (Bill); brothers: Ewin Hickerson and J.D. Hickerson (Kathryn) and two very special nephews: David Leighton Keele and Judd Treadwell. She was also preceded in death by her cousin Geraldine Winn Stewart who was like another sister to her. Survivors include her daughter, BeLinda Jo Ivins (Jonathan), Granddaughters: Lela Ivins Grosch (Andy) of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Alexandra Ivins. She is also survived by very special nieces: Diana W. McAfee, Kathy Keele, Kim Floied, Teresa Farless, Star Little and Nikki Nee. She is survived by special nephews David Meredith, Dwight Keele, and Butch Stewart. In her early career, she worked as a telephone operator, a cannery secretary, and as a dental assistant for Dr. James Threet. She spent most of her career working at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens helping people during their time of need. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was an avid bowler, collector of beanie babies, devoted grandmother, and loved raising beautiful flowers. Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to attend. 3/12/17 — Grady West, Jr.

Graveside Services for Mr. Grady West, Jr., age 83, of Manchester, Tennessee, will be conducted at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 before the service. Mr. West passed on March 8, 2017.

Grady West, Jr. was born in Wartrace, Tennessee, the son of the late Grady West, Sr. and Gracie Mae Duke. He served his country in the United States Army. Mr. West was an active member of Goose Pond Methodist Church. Grady worked as an assembly line worker for United Tech. for many years. He was an amazing musician, who could play any stringed instrument. He also spent a lot of his time riding his motorcycle. Grady will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family.

In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin and Marlin West. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mintie Arnold West; son, Randy West; brother, Roger (Peggie) West; three grandchildren, Addison, Cannon, and Emily West.

3/13/17 — Thalyea L. Yoder

Thalyea L Yoder of Tullahoma, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at
her residence at the age of 59 years. Funeral Services are scheduled for
Monday, March 13, at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to
follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be
Monday, from 12 PM until the service time.

Mrs. Yoder, a native of Arcadia, FL, was the daughter of the late Ora
Joseph and Violet Lorretta Cross Lippincott. She was born on May 3, 1957.
She
enjoyed cooking and doing crafts. She especially enjoyed being with her
family and going for car rides along scenic routes in the country.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother,
Donald Lippincott.

Mrs. Yoder is survived by her husband, Michael Yoder of Tullahoma; sons,
Joshua Yoder and Samuel Clayton, both of Tullahoma; daughters, Michele
Lippincott of Alabama, Rachel Sanders and her husband, Terry of Tullahoma,
Sarah Dodson and her husband, Russell of Tullahoma and Stephanie Yoder of
Alabama; brother, Richard Lippincott of Tullahoma; sisters, Debbie Sanders
and her husband, Ronnie of Murfreesboro and Linda Wells and her husband,
Paul of Watertown; nieces, Skye Jones of Tullahoma and Angela Ward of
Murfreesboro; nephews, Joey Wells of Watertown and Adam Head and his wife,
Callie of Shelbyville; great nieces, Eliah Ward and Ora Mitlow, both of
Murfreesboro; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Fay R. Brown, age 73 of Manchester, will be conducted on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Manchester Funeral Home with Reverend James Butler and Reverend Barry Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in Summitville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Manchester Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Unity Medical Center.

Fay was a lifelong member of Summitville United Methodist Church. She retired from Sain Construction after 43 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and loved to watch her kids and grandkids at their sporting and school events.

Preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Lena Mae Robertson; infant sister, Mary Jane Robertson; brother, Joe Frank Robertson. Survived by her loving husband of 53 ½ years, Buford B. Brown, Jr.; sons, Brian “B.B.” Brown (Judi), Chad Alan Brown (Kelly Guinn); daughter, Amy Denise Sadler (Craig); brothers, Stanton Robertson (Judy), Gary Robertson; sister, Brenda McAfee (Ivan); grandchildren, Brandon Shelton, Tyler Shelton, Lauren Brown, Kirsten Massey (Dallas), Sara Brown, Blanton Brown, Garrett Sadler, Grant Sadler, Grayson Sadler, Genna Sadler; great-granddaughter, Vanna Massey; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and Facebook family.

Mary Sue Steverson passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Waters of
Winchester at the age of 80 years. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2
PM, Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to
follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be
from 12 PM until the service time.

Mrs. Steverson was the daughter of the late Robert and Maudie Sons Prince.
She was born on July 25, 1936 in Coffee County. She worked as a Seamstress
at Tennessee Apparel for many years and was a member of College Street
Baptist Church. She loved playing bingo, solitaire and other card games.
She also enjoyed watching Law and Order on TV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Gilbert N. Steverson; two brothers, Devroe and Wiley Prince; three sisters,
Mildred Prince, Effie Mae Painter and Dorothy Reynolds.

Mrs. Steverson is survived by two sons, James N Steverson and his wife,
Bobbie of Tullahoma and Randy S Steverson and his wife, Stephanie of
Tullahoma; daughter, Rita Cornelius and her husband, Kraig of Tullahoma;
six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
